Chapter 664: 13.29 - Soulmateless

Xuan Mu scooped Bing Shi into his swan mouth as if she was a fish and took off into the sky, flying next to Tyrion.

Dai An had tired herself out and was sleeping in Ru Quan’s arms. He cradled her in a protective manner, sitting immovably in the center, making one wonder how he was able to keep his balance at high speed.

Ziek and Stinky Bun were holding onto Xuan Mu’s swan neck, not wanting to fall off.

Bing Shi wondered why she was suddenly hidden away when they were this close to the land, then peeked through the gap in his swan mouth to see a spaceship.

It was large enough to block the sun, slowly sucking in Bing Shi’s small ship.

A descending ice cube, ready to freeze the beast world forever, stopped in its tracks.

A male of majestic stature and a cold look in his eyes stood behind the ice walls, using them as a protective barrier.

His presence alone commanded respect, and his aura was so powerful that it seemed to radiate from every fiber of his being.

Nathaniel Hauxley had his arms behind his back, his gaze moving across the beast world as he looked for something.

Victor by his side, who was trying to find the same thing, was the first to speak up, "Shina must be inside someone’s space ring. We should start from there."

"I agree." Nathaniel’s gaze shifted from the forest to two dots that were approaching them.

’They’ve been having fun without me for too long,’ Lu Kai, who occupied Nathaniel’s body, thought, ’I’m having wifey all to myself after this. We need to continue our love story. Enemies to lovers then back to enemies, preferably.’

Lu Kai planned to keep the promise he wrote in the note for their valentine’s day (ch. 5.59), about how their story won’t have a happy ending. It will be happy, unfinished, never ending, forever and always.

Living as Nathaniel Hauxley was a challenge, one that Lu Kai accepted to be able to love Bing Shi in every way possible.

Shina Night was not the type of girl who Nathaniel Hauxley would be interested in, but Lu Kai wanted to make it possible anyway, to make their story come true.

Not by acting like her husband and treating her like his wife, but by staying true to the characters they were portraying.

So in case they ever died and reincarnated into a different life, no matter their circumstances or their tastes in people, they would fall in love again, as Mr. and Mrs Jelly. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

There were plenty of strong individuals in the world, and he was not going to leave anything to chance.

Who knew what the HQ had in store for them and they ended up having to hide from them?

What if another past life like Dai An resurfaced? He had to be ready to fall in love with whatever version of her that showed up next.

Also, they became soulmates which meant the HQ was going to milk their bond for all its worth, and like hell would he let them without gaining something in return.

The only way to be on top was to have enough influence, and he planned to make the most out of the situation.

They thought they could use his wife’s debt against him, but he could use their soulmate bond against them in return.

Victor followed Nathaniel’s gaze, and saw the two dots coming closer.

He didn’t recognize anyone but Ru Quan, a fellow drinking buddy from their academy days. It was a shock to see him again, alive and well.

It was the gloomy aura that was so specific to Ru Quan that gave him away. No one else had such a unique signature.

’Did he transmigrate into this world after he died?’ Victor rarely viewed someone as an equal in the worlds he visited, and Ru Quan was a rare exception. Sometimes, he enjoyed his company more than his lover’s.

Victor suffered from constant boredom, and Ru Quan provided something he couldn’t find elsewhere, but then he died, and it was boring without him, until he found the same drive to live with Nathaniel.

He found it strange until he realized that it was thanks to the soul shard he had been sustaining with his life source that he was able to enjoy life again, no boredom in sight.

’Was she trying to advance her soul after destroying it? Had she been using these men’s souls in order to be reborn as a god soul?’

A vein throbbed on Victor’s forehead. He realized he was used as an incubator until the dead soul was strong enough to leave his body, becoming a part of a newborn god soul.

Well it cured his boredom, so he was not complaining. But what about the rest of the incubators she had been using?

’A God Soul?’ The more he thought about it, the more sense it was making.

He didn’t pray to it, but he did pray for his boredom of life to not leave him after the dead soul was sucked out of his body.

’Are you telling me she’s the God, I’ve been begging this whole time?’

Dai An looked quite mighty and divine in his eyes, but he didn’t feel any need to worship her.

That’s when a hand waving at him from inside the swan’s mouth caught his attention, "..."

"One of my biggest followers," Bing Shi grinned when they got close enough, looking very proud as she spotted Victor.

Victor was about to say no, "Yes, I am."

Why did he agree? He felt the drive to live leave his body, and the constant boredom started creeping back in before it returned.

"Do you know her?" Nathaniel asked, watching the swan land before them.

Lu Kai was trying his hardest to hold back from fawning over her like her biggest fan. He was supposed to be interested in Shina Night, not this snake lady. He had a role to play, and it was not a role of a fan boy.

"Could you create a barrier around this world to keep it off aliens’ radar?" Bing Shi asked Victor, slithering out of the swan’s mouth.

Sne pretended not to recognize Nathaniel either, no matter how much she missed Lu Kai, "There seems to be an intergalactic war going on, and the aliens are hunting planets with resources to fuel their ships. I am afraid they might find this one and destroy it."

"..." Victor was speechless at her casual demand. Didn’t she devour enough of his energy already? Why didn’t she do it herself?

Bing Shi didn’t want to exhaust her husband, and a new powerful addition to her team sounded perfect. If Victor refused, she would just have to force him.

Bing Shi never felt boredom, and was incapable of feeling it, which was helping Victor feel alive. He didn’t love her but was dependent on her. He was able to enjoy Elera’s presence thanks to her after all.

Similar to the rest of her team members, Victor didn’t have a soulmate either.
