Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate-Chapter 837: Implication
James Reed sat behind the stage, a heap of microphones set up in front of him, like gun barrels aimed at him.
The journalists below had almost filled the venue to capacity. Just the cameras alone were lined up in several rows at the back, not to mention the photographers squeezing in. The flashes never stopped.
Fortunately, James Reed was accustomed to such lighting; otherwise, the flashes alone could blind him.
He looked up to check the time; there were ten minutes left.
After taking a sip of water, James Reed prepared for his speech. Right then, a sudden commotion broke out at the door, catching everyone’s attention. The reporters whispered and crowded towards the entrance.
"What’s happening?" James Reed asked.
Before the staff could inquire, they saw security escorting Ophelia Wilson inside.
The staff who had been maintaining order at the venue’s entrance shouted loudly, "Everyone, please give way! You’ll have time for your interview later!"
Spotting Ophelia Wilson among the crowd, James Reed stood up abruptly. With the crowd too dense, he couldn’t get through and had to wait for Ophelia Wilson to be escorted onto the stage.
"Ophelia, why are you here?" James Reed asked worriedly, grasping Ophelia Wilson’s icy hands. "I can handle this myself. Why did you come?"
Ophelia Wilson fixed her gaze steadily on James Reed. From his eyes, she could still see deep emotion. Once, those eyes full of tender affection were the sunlight in her life... now... they burned her like molten lava.
Ophelia Wilson pulled her hands back and forced a weak smile, saying, "I want to face this myself."
James Reed sensed that something was off with Ophelia Wilson’s emotions, but given recent events, her unusual behavior was understandable.
"Sit down first." James Reed considerately pulled out a chair for Ophelia Wilson and had someone pour her some hot water. "Warm your hands first. They’re ice-cold."
Ophelia Wilson accepted the cup, holding it in her palms, lowering her head in silence.
Fortunately, the staff quickly restored order at the scene, and it was time. James Reed spoke directly, "You have all seen certain unpleasant things circulating online. I don’t know who deliberately spread those things online..."
Ophelia Wilson’s grip on the cup tightened, the scorching heat from the glass wall burning from her palm to her heart.
"I condemn this behavior! Detest it!" James Reed said angrily, taking a deep breath to ease his discomfort, and then spoke sadly, "Because someone did such an immoral thing, Ophelia and I could have had a happy marriage, but it was all destroyed by him!"
"I just want to ask that person, can’t you bear to see me happy? Can’t you stand that I have a happy, fulfilled family? What are your intentions? Just because your life is unfortunate and incomplete, do you want to ruin others’ happiness too? You are too malicious and shameless!"
James Reed’s righteous questioning was met with Sophie Wilson’s cold sneer at the computer: "Screw you!"
What did James Reed mean by this?
His every word was a veiled accusation!
What did he mean by ’that person’?
His words clearly hinted at her family’s Mr. Seymour.
If it weren’t for James Reed and his mother, how would her family’s Mr. Seymour lack a complete family?
