Rebirth in the 80's: The Daily Life of the Villain's Mom-Chapter 39: Tea Eggs
Jiang Ran prepared to make tea eggs.
Tea eggs are delicious and not troublesome to make.
In the morning, selling them alongside porridge and buns couldn’t be better.
First, boil the eggs until they’re cooked, then crack the shells slightly and set them aside.
Meanwhile, in another pot, boil some water, then add tea leaves, star anise, coriander seeds, bay leaves, cinnamon, spices, salt, and slices of scallion and ginger, along with dark soy sauce.
If possible, also add light soy sauce and chicken bouillon.
However, given the current conditions, these two ingredients were omitted.
Still, it doesn’t affect much.
Once the water is boiling, put the eggs in, continue to boil for another twenty minutes, then they can be taken out.
Tea eggs can be eaten cold or hot.
If they become cold and you want to eat them hot, just re-boil them in the pot.
After making the tea eggs, during dinner that night, each of them ate one.
The taste is certainly much better than plain boiled eggs.
Thinking these were meant to be sold, Pei Baoshan and Wang Cuilan were reluctant to eat at first, until they saw Jiang Ran glaring at them, then each took an egg.
After dinner, they prepared the filling needed for the next morning, and everyone hurried to wash up and go to bed.
Jiang Ran had no time to lament life, nor time to think too much, she practically fell into a deep sleep as soon as she lay down.
She had a dreamless night, and early the next morning, Jiang Ran was again awakened by Wang Cuilan.
Perhaps due to experience, this time, Wang Cuilan called Jiang Ran to get up with a louder voice, without being as cautious as before.
When Jiang Ran arrived in the kitchen, Wang Cuilan had already kneaded the dough, and everything else was ready to be loaded onto the cart, only waiting for Jiang Ran to adjust the filling, so they could set off.
Jiang Ran didn’t say much and quickly adjusted the filling.
Before leaving, Jiang Ran didn’t forget to remind Wang Cuilan, "After dawn, take Little Jing to the county town, I’ve already spoken to the kindergarten, he will attend school today."
This matter was already discussed the night before, and neither Wang Cuilan nor Pei Baoshan had any objections.
Jiang Ran repeated it now, just in case Wang Cuilan forgot.
Wang Cuilan promptly agreed, "Don’t worry, I won’t forget."
Pei Jing is the only grandson of the Pei Family, Wang Cuilan always cherished him dearly, regarding matters concerning him, surely keeping them in mind, and not daring to forget.
When Jiang Ran and the others arrived at the market stall, it was just getting light, about the same time as yesterday.
With yesterday’s experience, today, without Jiang Ran arranging, Pei Shanshan and Pei Yang each busied themselves automatically.
The first batch of buns had just finished steaming when the man from yesterday arrived punctually.
He didn’t come alone; there was a woman with him, who should be his wife.
Both of them were holding containers, intended for porridge and buns respectively.
As usual, five bowls of porridge and ten buns; upon seeing the tea eggs available, they asked for the price and unhesitatingly ordered five tea eggs.
Jiang Ran bought eggs for one cent each and sold them for two cents each.
The price wasn’t high, mainly relied on small profits but quick turnover.
The man and the woman had not yet left when a crowd began to gather around.
Jiang Ran has a good memory, recognizing many familiar faces from yesterday among them, though there are also many new faces.
Most people came carrying bowls or pans, taking their purchases with them to eat at home.
Some were in a rush to work or school, standing by to eat their breakfasts right there.
