Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse-Chapter 150: Stadium 5
As Mo Chenxuan was thinking, he heard a loud buzz and looked up.
A moment later, he saw a four-winged mutant flying out of the stadium
The mutant was human-shaped but had four brown wings on its back.
At a glance, Mo Chenxuan could tell that the being was originally a human who became a moth mutant after the apocalypse.
Unfortunately, the person evolved in the stadium and couldn’t escape the surrounding zombies.
’It’s a pity.’ He thought, sighed, but shook his head to regain his composure.
From a distance, he could see that the zombified moth mutant sprinkled a layer of powder with every flap of its wing.
"Retreat. Don’t let it fly above your heads." He shouted, and everyone reacted.
In no time, an empty space appeared between the stadium and the camp.
However, the moth was still approaching, and continued retreat was not a viable option.
Thinking of this, Mo Chenxuan recalled everything he knew about moths.
Moths used celestial light sources like the moon to navigate.
However, their senses were not discerning and were easily confused by artificial light sources like fire.
As long as a fire appeared, the moth would be fatally attracted and inevitably burn itself to death. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
’I don’t know if the moth mutant has the same trait.’ He wondered with a thoughtful expression.
However, he didn’t wonder for long.
At this time, Xu Hongying rushed forward.
"Boss, let me deal with it." She said, and without waiting for Mo Chenxuan’s reaction, she condensed a fireball and threw it at the moth mutant.
As expected, the zombified moth mutant was immediately distracted.
Rather than continuing to fly towards the survivors, it shifted its trajectory and uncontrollably followed the fire.
Seeing this, Mo Chenxuan nodded.
The moth mutant was a peak-stage level two zombie, while Xu Hongying was a mid-stage level two ability user.
However, because of the moth’s innate inability to resist fire, Xu Hongying could surpass her level to easily deal with the moth.
Mo Chenxuan was relieved when he saw this, but he gave a last warning before shifting his attention to the stadium roof.
"Don’t let its powder fall on you." He reminded, and after receiving an affirmative reply, he looked away.
More zombies were flying out of the stadium.
Fortunately, all were low-level and ordinary ability users could deal with them.
At the same time, the remaining surveillance drones lapped the stadium and filmed the situation.
Most of the zombies were still in the stands, and only a few thousand had strayed to the pitch. Even then, the zombies were walking aimlessly, grunting and colliding with each other.
One hour passed in the blink of an eye.
During that time, the roof fully opened, the army killed all the flying zombies, and Qin Wu exited the stadium.
"Did you encounter any trouble?" She asked as soon as she reunited with Mo Chenxuan.
"It has been dealt with." The man said, pointing at the zombie corpses that were about to be burned.
After that, Mo Chenxuan revealed his new plan, and Qin Wu readily agreed.
"It will require a lot of gasoline, but it’s worth it if we can keep the stadium." She said, and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
Because time was of the essence, the two didn’t waste time and summoned the white throated needletail mutant.
His name was Wei Cheng.
He was about one hundred and sixty-five centimetres tall, had a slender build, and bird wings on his back.
"How fast can you fly, and can you carry a load?" Qin Wu asked.
"I can fly at one hundred and seventy kilometres per hour while carrying a load of one hundred kilograms." Wei Cheng said.
"The plan is to fly above the stadium while drizzling gasoline on the zombies. Can you do it?" Qin Wu continued, and Wei Cheng nodded.
"It’s not a problem." He said.
"Good."
After some preparations, Mo Chenxuan, Qin Wu, and Wei Cheng flew to the stadium roof.
Seeing this, several affiliated team leaders approached Xu Fei.
"How can the two bosses fly?" Xu Hongying asked with a confused expression.
She had wondered this since she first saw them flying during the refinery mission.
However, she didn’t have a chance to ask until now.
In her view, Mo Chenxuan was a lightning ability user, and Qin Wu was a space superpower. Even if they were level three superpowers, their abilities should still have nothing to do with flying.
"I have asked boss Mo about this." Xu Fei started with a thoughtful expression.
"He said the trick is to continuously condense a thin layer of ability and step on it before it dissipates. If the process is done fast enough, the result looks like flying or, at the very least, walking on air."
"This..." Xu Hongying muttered in a shocked voice.
Although Xu Fei made it sound simple, the surrounding ability users knew it was anything but.
After all, condensing ability not only took time but also energy and control.
What kind of monstrous control did one need to have to use their ability as a means of flying?
"Is this something that a human can do?" Someone muttered, and none of the gathered could argue.
Let alone achieving it, none of them could imagine what led Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu to even consider doing something like that.
’Is this the difference between ordinary people and monstrous geniuses?’ They wondered.
On the other side, Mo Chenxuan, Qin Wu, and Wei Cheng had begun drizzling gasoline on the zombies.
However, the stadium had a circumference of more than one kilometre and the zombies were stacked tens in a column.
Although the three tried to move fast, the drizzling took time, and challenges cropped up one after the other.
At first, they planned to douse all the zombies and then light the fire.
However, it was snowing and the stadium roof was open.
Before long, they realised that the gasoline and zombies might freeze by the time they circled the stadium.
After realising this, they changed strategy and lit the fire immediately after drizzling the gasoline.
