Earlier that day

Walking towards Rowen was Catherine as she patted his back slightly

"Son how are you doing"

Nodding Rowen replied "I’m good Ma"

"That’s good to hear well you see"

Already knowing what she wanted to talk about Rowen cut her off "Mom there is absolutely nothing you will tell me that will make me marry Rachel so forget about it"

Rowen said as he monitored Vanessa who was busy with the guests

"I know what she did was very wrong and trust me when I say that I am just as upset but she did all that because she loves and cares about you Why don’t you consider that and give her a second chance, I promise she will be a good wife and mother to your daughter"

"Enough Mother I don’t want to talk about this anymore" Rowen refuted his attention fixed on Vanessa who was going from one place to another making sure everything in the party was going well

Upon hearing her son’s words Catherine frowned as she traced where Rowen’s eyes were fixated only to realize he had been staring at Vanessa all this while this immediately started to make her blood boil

"Now I know the reason why you don’t want to listen to me it’s that woman She is bewitching you Rowen and you can’t see it"

Getting tired of her rants Rowen voiced out "Listen Mother I know Vanessa was a terrible mother in the past and more so a terrible wife but she has changed at least I have been seeing some changes in her attitude and behavior for crying out loud see all she is doing just for Tara Do you think the old Vanessa would have done any of this"

Catherine scoffed "I don’t care She’s probably doing this because she has an ulterior motive, I can’t believe that she’s changed so suddenly after so many years please you got to be kidding me"

Facing his mother Rowen muttered "Well I guess I’ll just have to keep kidding you because I believe she has changed At least she is better than how she was before So enough Mother I don’t want to talk about this anymore"

Saying that Rowen turned around and left as Catherine just frowned anger obviously visible in her eyes

Back to the present

"Now tell me Vanessa will you marry me"

Erin said his eyes fixed on Vanessa as he grinned widely

Meanwhile Vanessa felt as though all the pressure of the world was suddenly placed on her shoulders All eyes were literally fixed on her all awaiting her response

Turning her head, she met Rowen’s cold gaze once again his expression was unreadable, she wondered what the hell was going on in his mind

"Vanessa" Erin drew her attention one more time in his direction obviously getting impatient

Facing him Vanessa let out a silent sigh before nodding in agreement "Yes I’ll marry you"

She nodded as Erin smiled immediately placing the ring on her finger as she stood up and hugged him tightly

Meanwhile there was an awkward silence among the guests some clapped while others just stared. It was totally the most ridiculous place to ask for someone’s hand in marriage they all thought

"Vanessa, you stupid woman how dare you" Catherine’s voice was heard as she made her way towards Vanessa landing a hot slap across her face

This took everyone by surprise except Vanessa She was already embracing it the moment she said yes to Erin After all she knew how foolish her actions were, but it was the only way she could exact her revenge on Erin

"I feel like laughing so bad After pretending to be a good person you dare stab my son in the back You can do rubbish anywhere but why the hell did you do it on your own daughter’s birthday. Now, I see why you took your dear time preparing this entire party"

"Mother you are getting me wrong" Vanessa wanted to explain but Catherine cut her off

"I don’t want to hear a single word from you Take your things and get out of this house We don’t want to have anything to do with you anymore"

Catherine said as she called some guards "Guards get them out" she instructed, and the guards nodded already taking hold of Vanessa Erin and Hannah

"Catherine how dare you throw us out of your house Don’t you have respect for me and my family anymore" Hannah shouted annoyed by Catherine’s behavior

Just then Tara’s tiny voice was heard among the chaos her eyes filled with tears as she witnessed everything that had just happened

Upon seeing Tara Vanessa just stood there feeling absolutely weak She didn’t mean for her birthday to turn out this way at all

Meanwhile upon seeing Tara Rowen then walked towards Vanessa and Erin his eyes darker than usual Just his presence near her was enough to send shivers down her spine

"Before you leave, I would like to invite you to my engagement two days from now I hope you and your fiancé will attend"

Saying that Rowen then passed by her as he walked towards Tara carrying her in his arms

Upon hearing her son’s words Catherine immediately beamed with happiness

Turning to the guards he instructed, "Send them out and make sure none of them step foot into this mansion without my permission"

Rowen said and the guards nodded immediately dragging Vanessa Erin and Hannah away While she was being pulled away Vanessa’s eyes didn’t leave Rowen and Tara for a second 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

But Rowen didn’t spare her a second glance as he turned around and left the party with his daughter

"The party is over everyone Please go back to your various homes" Mariam announced, and the guests all left one by one leaving the entire house empty and gloomy

Turning to her mom Mariam sighed "At a point I really thought she had changed Mom How I pity Rowen"
