Rebirth, Seduce My Ex-husband-Chapter 60: Vanessa Quin
Chapter 60
Vanessa entered her car as Fiona pursued.
"Vanessa, wait!" she tried to stop her, but Vanessa wasn’t listening.
She wasn’t angry, just confused and sad.
The rain came pouring down so hard that the two women got drenched.
Finally catching up with her, Fiona took hold of Vanessa’s hand, stopping her.
"Where are you going? It’s raining so heavily. You have to go back inside," Fiona shouted as her words made Vanessa feel more annoyed.
"Go back inside? Did you just witness what happened or am I just losing my mind, Fiona?"
"Rowen has gotten another woman pregnant and you want me to go back in there with them? Why?"
Vanessa shouted, her voice blending with the slight lightning sound that appeared in the sky.
"I understand you, but at this moment, leaving doesn’t change anything. Leaving is exactly what she wants. She wants you to leave so she can take away what’s rightfully yours. You can’t go, especially not like this," she said to Vanessa as she cupped Vanessa’s face, making her focus her attention on her.
"Now listen to me. The biggest mistake you made before was abandoning your family, abandoning Tara. But now you can make things right. You have to be strong. Rowen said once she gives birth, she would be out of your lives. You have to go back and make her know that she can never take what is yours!"
Fiona said, her eyes filled with so much energy that it gave Vanessa a slight reassurance.
She was right. She couldn’t leave. Tara and Rowen were still there. Her leaving could just give Stacy exactly what she needed. She wasn’t going to let her win.
In this life, Rowen was hers and no one else’s. She would protect her family no matter what.
"Fine, but I don’t want to sleep here tonight," Vanessa said, her voice slightly weak.
Nodding, Fiona patted her slightly. "Don’t worry. You can sleep over at my place tonight. Then you must return first thing tomorrow morning, alright?"
"Vanessa! Fiona!" Just then, Kami came out with an umbrella and her handbag.
"Don’t tell me you want to leave without me?" she asked, almost tearing up as Vanessa just sighed and patted her head.
"How is Tara?"
"She’s asleep now, don’t worry. But what about Rowen and that woman? What exactly is going on?" she asked, still confused about the whole thing.
"Trust me, Kami. I’m just as confused," Vanessa said as she then turned around and made her way to the car before they all entered and drove off.
Meanwhile, from the window above, Rowen had been watching them all this while, his eyes slightly faint as he sighed and turned around.
Upon walking into his daughter’s room, he saw Tara sleeping so calmly as he smiled slightly.
He had missed her so much. Just then, his eyes drifted to a photo book that was placed on her bedside table.
On the front page was written "On Memories We Could Have Had."
It turned out that Vanessa had dedicated that whole month to spending time with Tara, doing everything she should have done with her daughter.
She documented it in a photo book as different photos of them having fun were placed there.
As Rowen flipped through the pages, his eyes started to tear up slightly. He removed his glasses, breaking down at that moment.
Just then, a familiar presence appeared at the door, and his expression was stern and stoic as usual.
"I’ve really messed up, George, haven’t I?"
Rowen asked as George just stood there silent until he then said, "The information just arrived. Turns out the drink you had taken was drugged. It was all planned, but I’m not sure who planned it."
"What do you mean? If not Stacy, then who?" Rowen asked, his voice growing louder.
But George remained unshaken, already used to it. He replied, "We traced Miss Stacy’s steps days before the meeting and nothing aligns with the drinks. But we are working on it. Soon we will find out who spiked the drink."
Rowen nodded as George then unexpectedly said, "Till then, it would be best for you to spend time with your real family. Stacy may be pregnant, but Vanessa is your wife, and she doesn’t deserve all this."
George’s words shocked Rowen. For a man who is usually quiet and tends to keep things to himself, George must have been annoyed by Rowen’s actions.
Rowen just sighed, "I’ll make it up to her. I will."
---
The next morning came quite fast.
Usually, the mornings in the Quinn mansion were slow and boring, but since Vanessa’s presence in the house, the entire routine and vibe had absolutely changed.
As early as six in the morning, Vanessa came back. This time, she wasn’t smiling. She wasn’t here for tears or foolish games.
She was here for her family, to stay and stand her guard. No one, absolutely no one, was going to take what rightfully belonged to her. No one.
Stepping in, a maid immediately came to welcome her in as she said to Vivian, "Vivian, I want each and every maid in this entire household here. Also, send someone to call the master and our guest over."
She instructed as Vivian nodded, knowing she was here for business.
Before she knew it, the huge hall was filled with maids and male workers as they all bowed in respect.
Soon, Rowen and Stacy came down as well, and upon seeing Rowen, something in Vanessa stirred, but she didn’t waver.
She blinked her eyes slightly as she turned to look directly at the maids.
Her voice loud and filled with command, she instructed, "Good morning, everyone. As we all know, we have a pregnant woman in our midst. During this period, I will assign three maids to take good care of Stacy. Make sure there is absolutely no problem."
"Meanwhile, I want the maids handling food and cleaning to be reshuffled. Send me the resumes of everyone. From now on, things in this house will be taken very seriously because I want absolutely no mistakes in my house. You may all leave."
And with that, they bowed once more before leaving. With them gone, Vanessa then turned to Rowen and Stacy.
Stacy was dressed in a blue dress that revealed her curvy waistline. Her hair was let down. She was beautiful, especially with her green eyes and curly blonde hair, but compared to Vanessa, she was just a walking stick.
Crossing her hands, Vanessa smiled slightly, her smile obviously bringing chills as she faced Stacy.
"We haven’t met officially yet, have we? Welcome. I’m Vanessa."
Vanessa extended her hand for a handshake as Stacy accepted it with a fake smile.
"It’s nice to meet you, Vanessa. I’m happy to see you have calmed down. You look much calmer compared to last night," she said, her words obviously stinging, but Vanessa just let it slide, replying with a smile.
"Well, you know, things happen, they say," Vanessa said as she then turned to Vivian.
"Vivian, get the side guesthouse cleaned and prepared. In three hours’ time, Miss Stacy here will be moving in. That will be her temporary residence until she gives birth."
Vanessa announced, her words taking Stacy by surprise.
"R-residence? Why am I moving? I thought I would be staying here at the Quinn mansion."
Vanessa scoffed. "Oh, so you thought. Well, too bad. I thought it would be better for you to stay at the guesthouse. It’s not far, just a few steps from the main mansion, and you’ll see your cute little home for the next nine months. Trust me, you are going to love it."
Obviously, Stacy wasn’t happy about that as she turned to Rowen, whose eyes had been fixed on Vanessa since he arrived.
"Rowen, aren’t you going to say anything about this?"
Rowen, without looking at her, replied, "Didn’t you hear my wife? She’s the owner of this house, and this is her household. Her rules are my rules, and everyone must follow. You are no exception."
His words only made Stacy frown as she turned to Vanessa, still disagreeing.
"No! I can’t move out. I am pregnant, and my baby needs his father at this stage. I can’t just leave."
Her words only made Vanessa burst into laughter.
"For someone who is carrying a married man’s child, you do tend to argue a lot. Rowen may be the father, but you, bitch, aren’t married, so there’s no need for you to need his presence all through your pregnancy."
Vanessa said as she walked towards Stacy, making Stacy move back slightly, her eyes fixed on Vanessa as she heard her say,
"If you need Rowen, then he will come see you. But I can’t have you live in my house. You see, this house can’t contain you and me, so you have to leave, Stacy."
"For I am Vanessa Quinn, and my word stands unshaken!"
