Reborn As A Doomsday Villainess-Chapter 122: Captured(5)
Chapter 122: Captured(5)
The alarm sounded suddenly, its shrill blare reverberating through the walls, cutting through the silence of the command center like a knife.
Red lights flashed across the room, and the sharp beep of the system locking down echoed in their ears.
Qingran and Feng Yizhou barely flinched at the noise. Their movements were fluid, calculated, as they surveyed the room. The monitors displayed flashing warnings, showing security breaches,
obviously their handiwork.
The panic had already started to spread.
"Time to move." She muttered and turned to Feng Yizhou. "We need to get out of here while they’re mobilizing their backup."
Feng Yizhou didn’t need to be told twice. His sharp eyes scanned the room, quickly assessing the layout. The entrance they came through was already blocked off with a few additional guards moving in. It was only a matter of time before they’d be completely surrounded.
They both headed for the back of the command center, knowing they couldn’t risk getting pinned down here. Their best chance was to break through and keep pushing forward.
"Split up?" Feng Yizhou suggested, glancing at her.
"No." Qingran replied sharply, shaking her head. "Stick together. We’re not running. We fight our way out."
The guards flooded into the room, weapons drawn, their faces hard with determination.
Their movements were sharp and decisive. As though they had no value for their lives.
They had seen the mess Qingran and Feng Yizhou had left behind and weren’t going to underestimate them again.
Qingran drew her own weapon, her fingers quick but steady as she checked it, then slipped into a combat stance. "Get ready."
The first guard made a move, and Feng Yizhou was on him before he could get more than a step into the room.
A swift strike to the stomach and a twist of the wrist brought him down. Qingran didn’t hesitate as well, a clean shot was sent to the second guard who was rushing toward her.
The clash of combat filled the air as they engaged the rest of the incoming forces.
The first wave of guards was relatively easy to handle.
They were disoriented by the alarm and the sudden chaos, but the second wave? They were better prepared, their weapons aimed, trying to pin down Qingran and Feng Yizhou from all angles.
Qingran turned sharply to Feng Yizhou as another wave of guards stormed in. She raised her voice above the din of the alarms.
"Rather than losing your lives, we have no intention of killing you. Just show us to your leaders, so we can finish this. If not, we’ll have no choice but to kill you and then kill them."
The message was clear: cooperate, or face the consequences. She didn’t bring down her weapon as several guards hesitated, clearly weighing their options.
One of the guards, a young man with wide eyes and trembling hands, lowered his weapon. His voice cracked as he spoke.
"You don’t have to do this. Just... just leave. It’s not worth dying over."
Qingran’s gaze softened slightly, but her resolve remained hard. "We’ve already made up our minds. Now it’s time for you to choose the winning side."
She aimed a shot into the air, hitting a security panel and causing sparks to fly. The noise startled the group of guards, and for a moment, they still hesitated.
"Last chance," she called out, her voice steady. "Show us to your leaders or face the consequences."
The standoff lasted only a moment. The young guard, still visibly shaken, looked over at the others. After a brief, tense exchange of glances, one of the older guards stepped forward. He was taller, his movements slower, but his eyes held a hard glint.
"Follow me" he said, his voice low. "You’ve made your point. But if you think we’ll make it easy for you—"
"We don’t need it to be easy," Feng Yizhou cut him off, his grin sharp. "We just need you to move."
The guard nodded stiffly and turned, leading them out of the command center and down a new set of corridors.
Qingran stayed close to Feng Yizhou, her senses alert for any further interruptions. The entire facility was on edge, and with the alarm blaring, they were likely running out of time before reinforcements arrived.
They moved quickly, turning corners and passing armed personnel who watched them with suspicion. The guard in the lead guided them toward a set of double doors at the far end of a hallway.
"This leads to the central command office," the guard said, glancing over his shoulder. "Our leaders are in there."
Qingran gave him a nod. "Open the door."
The guard complied without a word, swiping a badge in front of the security panel. The doors slid open with a hiss, revealing a large, dimly lit office.
Behind a massive desk sat three men. They didn’t look surprised to see them.
"Is this your idea of a surrender?" the man asked coolly, his voice laced with irritation.
"Du Yuan, why didn’t you just finish them off. Now we have to get our hands dirty."
"..."
"Don’t talk to me like that. I don’t like that tone.."
Du Yuan stood up, the smile on his face vanishing.
"Miss Gu you should have just stayed in the isolation room. Now I’ll have to hurt your pretty face.."
Qingran hissed as she fired a shot but Du Yuan didn’t move, instead he smiled, the bullet came right in contact with his skin but nothing happened to him.
Rather the bullets had shattered to dust.
This had confirmed their suspicion of him being a system user.
[Ding! Congratulations host. You met a member of the Elite Team. This is Du Yuan, he has a Tiger system, or at least what he named the system. Things like guns and poisons have no effect on him.]
Qingran smiled, this was great, this made her fucking easier.
"You are welcome to waste more of your bullets."
Feng Yizhou turned his gun to the rest men.
"Are these two bulletproof as well?"
