Reborn as the General's Useless Daughter-Chapter 284: Trouble at Ironspire City (Part-2)
Zora’s words were flat and cold, without the slightest warmth. To ordinary people, this kind of pressure would have meant being driven out in humiliation. It was nothing short of an insult.
Drusilla and her companions flushed with anger, momentarily at a loss for words. Around them, the other diners nodded in agreement. The white-robed girl was speaking the truth, and for once, someone had finally said what everyone was thinking.
The tension in the hall shifted. What had been nervous curiosity now turned into anticipation. Many people were eager to see how this confrontation would end.
Drusilla let out a cold laugh after a moment. "If you really have the guts to talk like that, why are you hiding your face from us? What, too ugly to let people see?"
She had always been arrogant, never caring whether she was right or wrong. In her world, strength made the rules. Who cared about reason? Had anyone ever seen an emperor argue with a beggar?
Her words made Reesa laugh out loud. Calling Zora ugly was beyond ridiculous.
Not only Reesa, but even Raphael and the others nearly burst into laughter. Among all of them, Zora was the most striking. If she were ugly, then the rest of the world had no beauties left.
Under Drusilla’s mocking gaze, Zora slowly turned around. Her stunning, peerless face was framed by a faintly mocking smile as she looked straight at them. "What was it you just said?"
A sharp intake of breath rippled through Caius’s group. He stared at her in disbelief.
He had thought the woman in the rose-colored dress was already a rare beauty, yet the woman in white before him eclipsed her completely, as if she were carved straight out of a dream.
All along, Caius had believed that Ophelia was already among the most beautiful women he had ever seen.
Within Lunar Academy, the sisters, Ophelia and Drusilla, were famous far and wide. They were known not only for their looks but also for their strength, and countless Spirit Warriors dreamed of pursuing them.
Yet their standards were so high that ordinary students never even entered their field of vision. Only special enrollment students had a chance to get close.
Caius had set his sights on Ophelia a long time ago.
Although she was proud, at least she was not as sharp-tongued and troublesome as her younger sister. In his eyes, a beautiful and capable woman had every right to be proud. As for Drusilla, she was simply too much trouble, always quick with biting words and eager to stir conflict.
That was why, between the two sisters, he had chosen Ophelia without hesitation. Everyone at Lunar Academy knew of his intentions, and the two of them were often seen together. He had been secretly quite pleased with himself because of that.
Yet now, standing before these four women, his pride was shaken. None of them was inferior to Ophelia, and the woman in white and the one in the rose-colored dress were even more breathtaking, as if they outshone everything around them.
Drusilla also stared at Zora in disbelief. Shock flickered through her eyes, and her face slowly turned the color of overripe plums. She had tried to trample this woman just moments ago, never realizing she was walking straight into humiliation.
No matter how sharp her tongue usually was, she found herself unable to form a single proper retort now.
"Y you..." she stammered, but the words refused to come.
Soft laughter spread through the hall. To see someone as arrogant as Drusilla rendered speechless was an oddly satisfying sight.
Even the waiter, who had been so flustered earlier, could not help but let out a breath of relief. Caius’s group had been nothing but trouble, and now that they were being forced into a corner, it felt like long-overdue justice.
Zora did not even spare Drusilla a glance. She simply raised her finger again, her voice calm and unhurried. "Three."
Caius’s face darkened. This woman was openly slapping them in the face. If they really left now, how would they ever show their faces again?
"Two."
Raphael and the others remained where they were, unmoved. In truth, the other side’s bullying had already stirred their anger, and Zora’s decisive stance made them feel oddly satisfied.
At that moment, a man in black robes stepped forward. His gaze settled on Zora, and the chill in his eyes softened slightly with a hint of interest.
"Girl, your manner is rather excessive," Ignar Dragovic said slowly.
When he spoke, Ophelia and the others could not help but show surprise. They knew Ignar Dragovic well. He was not someone who bothered with trivial matters, nor did he waste time on petty disputes.
Among them, Ignar Dragovic was the strongest, and because of his aloof temperament, he rarely involved himself in anything unnecessary. That was why his sudden intervention was so startling.
Could it be... that Ignar Dragovic had stepped in because of the woman in white?
At the thought of it, both Ophelia and Drusilla exchanged glances, their expressions turning increasingly sour.
Ignar Dragovic stepped forward, his posture relaxed yet carrying an air of quiet authority. "Earlier, it was indeed our side that acted improperly. Since misunderstandings can always be untangled, why not turn hostility into friendship instead? If we really come to blows, it will bring no benefit to either side."
His tone was confident and composed. Even though the other party had eight people, they too had eight. Judging from their ages, everyone should be roughly in the same realm. If a fight truly broke out and injuries followed, no one would come out unscathed.
Zora looked at Ignar Dragovic with indifferent eyes. She had not forgotten his earlier arrogance. This was clearly not a soft-hearted man pretending to be gentle. He was simply choosing what he believed to be the most advantageous option.
Reesa and the others also hesitated slightly. What Ignar Dragovic said made sense. Once fists started flying, there would be no easy ending.
And yet, instead of answering, Zora turned around, returned to her seat, and calmly picked up her fork, as if nothing of importance had just happened. She resumed eating, completely ignoring Ignar Dragovic and the rest.
Ignar Dragovic’s expression darkened.
Drusilla could not hold back any longer. "Hey, what do you mean by that?" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Zora did not even look up. "I accept whatever hostilities you are willing to drop, so let us pretend nothing happened. As for being friends, our paths are different, and there is no need to force it."
After she sat down, Reesa and the others followed suit, acting as if Ignar Dragovic’s group did not exist at all.
Within the special enrollment class, Zora had already become a natural center of gravity. After the experience in the ruins and her breakthrough to the Innate realm, her standing among them was unquestionable. In the world of Spirit Warriors, strength mattered more than age, and that was why none of them felt the slightest doubt about following her lead.
Ignar Dragovic’s face turned faintly green. This was the first time someone had so bluntly rejected his attempt at making peace, and in such a dismissive way. It left a sour taste in his mouth.
"You’re really full of yourself," Drusilla snapped, her voice sharp. "Senior Dragovic is willing to make friends with you, and you still refuse? Do you even know who we are?"
The moment she called him "Senior," Alaric Von Seraph and the others exchanged looks. Their earlier suspicions were now confirmed.
"So this is how students of Lunar Academy behave outside?" Zora finally looked up, the corners of her lips curling into a faint, cold smile. A glint of dangerous light flickered in her eyes.
