Reborn as the Third Prince: To Build and Conquer my way to Royalty.-Chapter 72: The Fabi mimics
Chapter 72: The Fabi mimics
[You have successfully pulled for a summon.]
A bright red light appeared in front of him, completely lighting up the black space around him.
As the light dimmed, a creature appeared in its place.
Hovering before his very eyes was a burning blue flame in the shape of an orb.
Staring at it, Sylus could tell it was alive from how it was constantly breathing with the flames surrounding it.
[Summons.]
Grakilo, a creature born from mana, has no physical form; as such, it mimics what it sees depending on its strength.
Sylus was impressed.
A creature without a physical form already had the advantage of always adapting depending on the scenario.
Just to be sure, Sylus stretched his hand towards it.
"Hey little guy, aren’t you a cute thing..."
The creature made some squirming noises, and then, the very next minute, it mimicked the shape of Sylus’s hand.
Now Sylus was even more impressed after seeing it play out in front of his very eyes.
He wondered if the creature’s mimicking ability would improve even more after giving it a name to evolve.
As of now, while the creature was able to take on the form of Sylus’s hand, it was still lacking in a lot of areas.
For example, it was quite obvious it was glitching, constantly falling out of shape. Every time it assumed a new form, it seemed to be fighting to keep a tight hold on itself.
Additionally, it was unable to replicate Sylus’s entire body and was content to only imitate one arm.
That in itself already proved it still had room for growth.
Sitting with one hand on his jaw, Sylus thought of a name he could give the creature.
"Fabi."
[Would you like to register the name Fabi as the Grakilo’s name?]
Sylus paid attention to the notification.
And then replied.
"Yes."
[Name Fabi has been registered.]
[Fabi will now undergo evolution.]
Right then and there, Sylus observed as Fabi’s flames gradually became dark, almost similar to Sophia’s black mist.
With time, the creature grew even bigger, its mist got thicker, and its form was bolder and more detailed than it once was.
[The Grakilo has successfully evolved.]
[A new trait has been obtained.]
[Stationary observation:] This trait allows the summon to learn and mimic whatever it sees in an instant, to near perfection.
’Ohhh? I knew it would evolve into something good.’
Sylus looked at Fabi.
It looked to be dancing around the place, even forming part of its body into a hand so it could wave at him.
"Can you understand me?" asked Sylus.
Fabi nodded.
"Good, I want you to take a form more suited for humans."
Once again, the creature acted, scanning Sylus’s entire body before taking on a different form—this time, a mime doll.
It looked just like Sylus; the only thing was, with no facial details or skin color, one might not be able to tell that at first glance.
Not to mention the form was extremely short, no bigger than 5’2".
Nevertheless, it was still an impressive feat.
’This is good. It should be able to help around the house now and act as a protector when needed. I guess it still needs to learn human speech.’
[You have exited the Karma shop.]
Right there on the ground was Fabi, now taking the form of a small round shape.
But that wasn’t the only thing Sylus saw after returning.
Standing in front of him, with their arms folded, were Zani and her mother.
While Zani had a tough expression that was clearly cracking, her mother was more forthcoming and frantic.
With nervousness, Sylus raised his gaze toward them. "Is there a reason why you both are standing in front of me?"
Immediately he spoke, the two women had a surprised look on their faces.
Then, as if to conceal the fact that she was sobbing, Zani’s mother made a single motion and shifted her eyes to the side.
Shocked by this, Sylus was essentially speechless, his mouth wide open.
There was also the fact Zani was throwing stabbing stares at him.
"Mother and I have been calling out to you for the past minute; you didn’t respond, you just kept looking around like a ghost. We thought something had happened to you."
Now he understood.
Sylus averted his gaze to the side.
Of course, he never really thought about what would happen anytime he entered the Karma shop, though he still considered the fact that his body would be left in a vulnerable state.
Hence why he never attempted to enter the Karma shop when in public.
And to think he was actually right about it as well.
"I was meditating," he replied.
It was quite obvious no one would believe such a lame excuse.
Especially two women who thought he must have been under a spell or something similar.
However, rather than questioning him further, Zani sighed and offered to help him with the flour, while her mother continued cooking the main dish.
While all this was happening, Fabi had hidden under the chair, observing everything that was happening around it.
With time, it was learning how to communicate with another living thing and learning new forms it could mimic.
But even more, it paid more attention to Sylus and Zani’s interaction, observing how Zani would often care for Sylus by cleaning his face with a rag or how she would evidently stare at him for a long period of time, only to look away when she was about to be caught.
In truth, the creature was growing with every passing second.
All through the family’s dinner, it remained hidden, right under the couch, still observing everything around it.
While Sylus was aware of this, he didn’t try to stop it or get in the way. Instead, he continued as though he had no intention of ever paying it attention.
...
The very next day, Sylus and Zani were set on heading toward the Count’s mansion when Sylus suddenly presented Fabi to Zani’s mother.
