Chapter 112: Highlight Gamblers

After a three-hour journey offshore out of the state, they finally reached the area built up in the no man’s land, infamous for the best gambling in the entire nation, in fact, the world.

"Are you sure about it?" Kyle asked Amelia.

Though he was the rogue head, he dared to come to this place only thrice, not because he was afraid of anyone, but because of the stench that this place carried.

When someone hears gambling, they think of money, property, wisdom, support, wealth, or beauty, but this place is something else.

This place carried the legacy of betting beyond things one could acquire, like life, a witch’s power, or even a kingdom if one got lucky enough to win against a king.

Powerful people like Cyrus and other kings came to this place for entertainment when they would feel bored, and because why bother to kill someone illegally when everything was legal in this place?

Kyle looked at the girl, whose eyes beamed with interest as she looked at the place.

Though this place was quite famous for its practices, it wasn’t something a commoner would know.

How did the girl even know about this place? But the main question was why she wanted to come here in the first place.

Once inside the place, the compulsiveness of the games usually lures a person in, and it’s hard to get out of the gambling once you start.

In his beginning days, he accompanied his friends who wanted to show him around, and that was how he got the position of the rogue head because he defeated the previous rogue head three times in a row and got the entire army to bow to him.

That was also how he was betrayed by those people who wanted to kill him, and if not for Amelia that night, who saved him, he wouldn’t have gotten to live another day.

That was also how he realized that if you can’t make something yours when it’s with you, it wasn’t yours from the beginning.

Those people, though, were good with him, making him believe they were his family, they were loyal to the former rogue head and tried to get rid of him.

"I have never been so sure about anything," Amelia grinned.

She had heard about this arena in her last life when she was running around like a rogue. She had gotten the chance to see the legendary Queen of Hearts on her venture once.

The lady got her name in the gambling because till now, she had played more than 20 thousand gambling games and yet only a few were able to defeat her.

One of them was her husband, whom the Queen had challenged herself because she had learnt of his no-woman-touch policy when he had come here to see things.

She was offended, but rules were rules. She didn’t persist after losing.

The reason she was here was to meet the man named Galore.

In her last life, she remembered this was the same man who Hannah had hired around a month after to kill Grayson and pin it on Amelia in the name of her hating the royals for the forced marriage.

Guess what? She had been successful. After King Cyrus became the king, Galore killed Grayson and tried to pin it on her.

But it was just her luck that the day Grayson died happened to be her birthday, and she was present before Cyrus when all of this happened.

She learnt it quite later that the reason he had let her go and not killed her then and there when he found her was because he had learnt of his grandfather’s demise and left urgently.

He had even drawn his sword and placed it on her neck.

The scene still brought chills to her.

She wondered if she could end Galore tonight; she could change the fate of the Former Alpha King and save him.

After all, he was one of the only people who ever treated her right.

"Hey, what are you thinking about?" Kyle shook her shoulders.

Amelia snapped out of her thoughts and walked inside the dreaded place, Highlights Gamblers.

To say she was surprised would be an understatement.

The place was nothing like she had expected.

She had expected a weird, dark club with strippers walking around and entertaining the clients while they made bets around.

The place was nothing less than a lavish club with various floor-to-ceiling private rooms on the first and second floors for the powerful people to see the matches.

"Let me book my slot first," Kyle said.

"Are you going to bet?" Amelia asked him.

"Do you leave me any choice? How will you see how it works?" Kyle furrowed his brows in confusion.

Wasn’t that the reason the girl was here? To quench her intrigue about how gambling worked?

"You don’t need to bet. I am not here to see. I am here to bet," Amelia said, shocking Kyle for the second time.

Kyle held her hand, his gaze darkening now.

"Do you know what you are talking about?" He asked.

He wasn’t a fool who would let her bet and lose her. She was already too beautiful to stand in a place like this.

Who knew if a powerful person here caught her? If anyone made a bet with her, he wouldn’t be able to do anything to save her either. And fighting won’t take them anywhere either.

This place was packed with people from all species, and they wouldn’t let him take away the girl anyone had bet on.

"Do you want to register or not? People are waiting," Someone hissed from behind her.

Amelia’s pupils dilated at the hissing.

It was a shapeshifter. She has never met one who was half shifted. The hisis h meant the person was half shifted into a reptile, right?

She looked behind Kyle to see the person, but knowing how offensive it would look, Kyle turned her forcefully.

Amelia sighed and gave her details to the person registering.

"Name?" He asked after registering everything.

It was strange how the person asked for the name at the end rather than starting with it.

"Everleigh," Amelia said.

Kyle didn’t say anything during the process until she was given her number.

"Don’t lose the chip," The man warned her, and Amelia nodded.

She turned and walked inside, with Kyle practically glued by her side, ready to fight off anyone who would dare touch her.

He wouldn’t deny it. The place has changed a lot since he last visited it.

It practically looked like a decent place for fun. It was just that he already knew the ugly face and evil intentions these people were hiding behind the fake smiles.

Amelia’s gaze landed on her name on the chart that was displayed on the LED to stay fair in the game.

Her heart beat erratically, and she took a deep breath to calm her heart.
