Regression - Second Chance At Life-Chapter 281: You Did Something Bad

Standing at his door, Julia looks at Adam, wondering what he is looking at.

From the looks of it, he doesn’t seem angry like it felt from his text, but Julia knows better than to trust any word that comes out of Adam’s mouth.

Pressing her lips tightly together in anticipation, she makes her way into his room to figure out why he called her.

"Why did you call me?" She asks out loud to get his attention, but Adam stays silent. He doesn’t even bother glancing at her.

Julia frowns; she knows he is doing this on purpose to get a reaction out of her. But she is tougher than that. She is not going to give him what he wants.

She looks at his screen to see what he is looking at. He seems to be looking at some science stuff that Julia has no clue about.

So she stands there, waiting for Adam to look at her, but Adam continues to browse his computer without putting her on his mind.

The more seconds passed, the more frustrated Julia became.

She hated how Adam knew how to press her buttons. She knows that if she doesn’t talk, she will be left to stand here for as long as he wants.

She could, of course, walk away, but she knows herself very much; not knowing why Adam called her here would eat her up from the inside, making her frustration grow further.

"Stop ignoring me and tell me why you called. I don’t have the luxury to waste my time on your meaningless power play," Julia voices out what she truly feels.

Her words finally earn a reaction from Adam as he slowly turns in his chair to face her with a smile on his face.

"Oh... I didn’t know you had anything other to do than throw my father’s money at useless things and watch TV," Adam says, mocking her lifestyle.

After all, there is not much that Julia does around the house. She is either out shopping with her friends all day or spending her days watching TV shows with a glass of wine in her hand.

Hearing his mocking tone pisses off Julia, but she knows not lose her calm. She needs to be composed when facing this annoying creature before her.

Adam’s smile widens as he sees Julia try her best to keep her cool at his provocation. He has to give it to her toughness. Even after everything he put this woman through, she still acts tough around him.

Her mental strength is truly one of the strongest compared to the other women in his life.

"Stop smiling like an idiot and tell me why you called me here?" Julia continues to be hostile towards him as she tries to direct all her anger towards him because it’s the only way she knows how to keep her sanity around Adam.

The more hate she projects on him, the more rational she is around him.

If she ever lets her other desire for Adam take over, she will lose control over the entire situation. It has happened time and time again. Julia doesn’t want to end up in her room, spreading her legs apart, touching herself, thinking about her step-son again.

Adam continues to meet her gaze with his arrogant smirk, wondering how long she will be able to continue acting like this once he starts messing with her.

He slowly gets up from his chair and approaches her.

Seeing Adam approach her, Julia’s heart starts beating with nervousness. With every step he takes to get closer, her heart beats faster.

She tries her best to hide her nervousness, but the micro expression on her face gives her away to Adam’s observant eyes.

By now, he can read this woman like a book because of the twisted, toxic connection they have between them.

Now just a few inches away from her, Adam looks over her with his tall and wide frame, making Julia feel claustrophobic under the shadow Adam is casting over her.

She takes a step back with a frown on her face, but not daring to turn her gaze away from him because it is a clear sign of weakness that Julia doesn’t want to portray, no matter how nervous she feels.

Seeing her take a step back, Adam takes a step forward to see how far he can push he,r and is there a limit?

Julia’s frustration grows as she sees Adam continue to mess with her.

’I need to stand up for myself,’ She thinks and decides not to back down again because it only gives Adam more fuel to mess with her.

Julia stands her ground and matches Adam’s gaze with a fierce resolve.

"I have had enough of you. Tell me why you called me here, or I am going to leave!" She says, trying to sound as authoritative as possible.

Adam doesn’t say anything. He continues to stare into her eyes with his overconfident gaze and his prideful smile, which irks Julia a lot.

She hates how arrogant and full of himself Adam is, but she is also a sucker for this type of man. Men who know they are better than the rest. An arrogance that is born from superiority. Something that cannot be copied.

This is one of the reasons she is so drawn to Adam.

"I called you here because we need to discuss something bad that you did," Adam says. Finally, speaking up as he realized that Julia won’t tolerate any more of his shenanigans, he decides to go for the attack he has prepared for.

Julia frowns, hearing his words. She begins to wonder what Adam is trying to cook up to mess with her again.

She is not an idiot to not notice by now that Adam deliberately called her to his room to mess with her, but what does he have on her?

As this thought crosses her mind, Julia starts to panic a little from the inside because she has done many things that could fuck up her life, like cheating on Jack with Hazel, making out with Adam, trying to trap Adam with a false case of r*pe, if Adam has evidence for any of these things, she knows she is fucked.

But then again, she begins to wonder what the chances are of Adam even knowing about her cheating, let alone having evidence to prove her cheating.

She decides to stay calm and not put herself on her own, knowing Adam, even the tiniest mistake from her side, will give him the chance to pounce on her.

"And what is this bad thing that I did?" Julia asks, folding her hands, trying to look tough.

Adam chuckles.

"Come on, do I have to spell it out for you? You know what you did wrong. Just admit it, and I might go easy on you," Adam says, being vague about what he has on her.

He wants to see if Julia will fold under pressure because if she does, things will become so much easier for him.

Julia frowns as her inner thoughts start to get chaotic again.

’Does he know? No, I am overthinking it. Look at this face, he is clearly trying to mess with me,’ Julia thinks and decides to stand her ground.

She knows she cannot let Adam dictate anything. The thing she is being accused of right now, it will have to come out of Adam’s mouth for her to admit it.

"I don’t know what you are talking about. I did nothing wrong," Julia says, standing firm with her words.

"Come on, do you really think I believe you? You are a terrible human being. The chances of you being innocent is nill. Just out with it and I won’t bother taking it to the authorities," Adam says, smirking.

Hearing the words authorities triggers Julia because what could she have possibly done that could draw the attention of authorities?

’Does he have evidence about the r*pe trap? No, that’s impossible because nothing happened. What else could it be?

Of course, he has nothing! He is still trying to mess with me, scare me into admitting to something he doesn’t know about. Fucking asshole.

I am not going to fall for your cheap tricks,’ Julia thinks and decides to continue to stand her ground.

"I still don’t know what you are talking about. Out with it already, or I am leaving," She says, tapping her leg repeatedly to express her annoyance.

Hearing her words, Adam grins.

"Fine then. I will show you what you did," Adam says and walks up to his computer, sits down on his chair, relaxes his back on the support, takes a relaxed sigh, and opens the folder he saved the video in.

"Come on, come closer, let me show you what you did," Adam says, beckoning her.

Julia frowns but does as he says. She walks closer while staring at his screen. Her eyes were on the only video icon inside the folder.

"What is this?" She asks with a frowning face.

"Don’t be in such a hurry, you will know it in due time. Let me play it for you," Adam says and clicks up the video.

It starts playing.

Julia watches the video play. It’s a video of Adam’s room.

As it starts to play, the possibility of what it could be flashes in Julia’s head.

Panic starts to take over again.

"Let’s get to the juicy part," Adam says, looking at her with a grin, and skips to the part where Julia enters his room.
