Regressor's Harem Of Vengeance-Chapter 15. The Nest [2].
Ray lifted his head and noticed a notification that popped up in front of him.
[Congratulations to the host, you’ve defeated three Goblin Scouts.]
[Defeated Monsters: Goblin Scout (Level 4) x3]
[Experience gained: 36 XP]
[Total Experience points: 91/100]
Ray read the string of words displayed on the screen and a feeling of satisfaction washed over him.
With nine more experience points needed to level up, Ray couldn’t help but feel excited at how fast he was growing.
He swiftly glanced down, searched around and began to loot the goblins.
But he was only able to get two copper coins and a slightly better dagger than the one he’d looted from his first goblin.
Ray replaced his old dagger with the new one, then he moved on to his next set of prey.
The next hour was methodical for Ray because he moved through the first floor using his <<Void Sense>> skill to detect the goblins before they could even see or sense him.
Thanks to this, he was able to effectively and quickly kill them by using his <<Void Step>> skill to close the distance between him and his targets and strike from unexpected angles.
He continued using this tactic until he got to a trapped corridor where he encountered seven goblins that had similar levels to the first three goblins he had encountered earlier in the dungeon.
His experience points rose even higher as he leveled up to level 4, while his stats increased and his mana pool expanded as well.
His <<Void Step>> cool down period had dropped as well, allowing him to easily recover whenever he used the skill during combat.
Ray continued on his path until he came across a second trapped corridor, but this time he decided to study it carefully before taking any step forward.
The tunnel was narrow and it had barely enough space for two people to walk side by side. But the floor was made of stone tiles which were cracked and uneven.
However, Ray noticed something very important.
Three of those tiles were different from the rest. They looked cleaner and more organised than the other stone tiles.
From his years of experience as an adventurer, Ray knew that these three tiles were most likely pressure plates set to be triggered by unsuspecting beginners who wouldn’t be able to easily tell the difference.
Pressure plates like these had been the downfall of so many inexperienced awakened individuals in his first life because stepping on one could easily make a section of the ceiling collapse, with several hundred pounds of rocks falling straight onto their heads.
In his first life, the three adventurers who had discovered this dungeon had inadvertently triggered one of these pressure plates by accident, but luckily for them, they had survived and were able to brag about their adventures in the dungeon.
Focusing his mind on what was more important, Ray walked carefully along the edge of the corridor.
He made sure to test each step before putting his weight down on each of them, then he avoided the three trapped tiles and reached the other side of the tunnel safely.
Beyond the corridor was a large chamber which had ten goblins in it.
This was the highest number of goblins he had encountered since he stepped into the dungeon.
But this also meant that he would have to fight against ten goblins of a similar level to him.
Fighting against all of them at once would be impossible and would be a risky move, as he would be endangering himself.
But Ray wasn’t going to let that stop him from carrying out his goal.
So he swiftly came up with a plan on how to win against all ten of the goblins.
He hunkered down on the floor, then he picked up a loose stone before throwing it into the chamber.
*Prack* *Clank*
It clattered loudly against the far wall and the goblins’ heads snapped up in surprise.
They shrieked and scrambled toward the sound before glancing back at where the stone flew in from.
Doing this, their gazes lowered at the entrance of the chamber where Ray stood with his grip tightening on the hilt of his sword.
Clearly an intruder had entered their home.
Noticing this, the first goblin charged through and Ray sidestepped its wild swing before plunging his sword into its throat.
The second goblin almost stumbled over the first goblin’s corpse but Ray kicked it in the chest and sent it sprawling to the ground before stabbing it in the chest as well.
Meanwhile, the third and fourth goblin attacked at the same time but Ray used his <<Void Step>> ability to appear behind them, then he cut one down before it could notice his presence while the fourth goblin spun and snarled as it aimed its dagger straight at Ray’s chest, but Ray parried its dagger with his sword before driving his own blade into the Goblin’s chest.
Watching as four goblins had been mutilated in front of them, the remaining six goblins hesitated as they exchanged glances, with none of them feeling eager to take the first step.
But unlike the six goblins, Ray charged forward making full use of his element of surprise.
He activated his <<Void Step>> ability and sliced the throat of the nearest goblin before stabbing and slashing at all the other goblins.
Within seconds, five goblins had been killed with only one remaining.
It dropped its dagger and tried to run, but Ray threw his own dagger which hit the goblin straight in the back and the creature collapsed to the floor while still twitching.
Moments later, silence reigned as Ray retrieved his dagger before wiping it clean and checking out his stats.

Now that he had leveled up to level 5, Ray allowed himself a small smile. But he suddenly realized something very important that he had almost failed to notice since he had arrived here.
’It’s strange.’
’I thought this nest didn’t have more than twenty goblins in it, but so far I’ve defeated over twenty goblins already and I haven’t even completed the first floor yet.’
’At this rate, I won’t be surprised if this nest has over fifty goblins in it.’
’Does that mean that those guys were wrong about the number of goblins they fought against?’
’Yeah, they probably were.’
’Or maybe there are just more goblins here because I arrived a lot earlier than those guys.’ Ray concluded that it must be the case as he shrugged it off and began looting the chamber.
By the time he was done, Ray had gathered eight copper coins, a new dagger and a small healing potion.
He pocketed the coins and potions but left the dagger behind because the one with him was a better quality than the one he had just found.
Once he was done, Ray left the chamber and descended on a stone staircase leading to the second floor.
