Regressor's Harem Of Vengeance-Chapter 20. We’re Rich!!
The journey back to Thornsville took Ray two days.
He traveled with caution and made sure to avoid the main roads because he didn’t want to run into bandits or other adventurers, especially since he had thirty-eight gold coins in his pack.
So, he camped in the forest on the first night, then he ate some of the leftover dried meat and bread before lying on his back and staring at the stars.
Mira’s face filled his thoughts as he recalled her smile, her warmth, and the way she had kissed him goodbye.
He recalled how he had promised to come back and Ray’s smile widened knowing that he had successfully kept his promise to his mother, sister, and girlfriend.
On the second day, Ray pushed harder as he continued his journey back home. He could feel his ribs aching once again, but the healing potion had done its work so he was still able to move without too much pain.
By late afternoon, Ray could see Thornsville in the distance.
He picked up his pace and he reached his village just as the sun was setting.
Meanwhile, people were already finishing their work for the day. Farmers had already begun to return back home from the fields while merchants had begun closing their shops.
A few villagers saw Ray and waved, and he waved back to them before his house finally came into view.
To his surprise, he saw Mira sitting on the porch steps, almost as though she had been sitting there ever since he left the house.
Mira slowly looked up as he approached the house and her eyes widened the moment she realized that it was Ray.
She stood up and her hands flew straight to her mouth as she gasped in surprise, shock, relief, and excitement, all mixed together.
"Ray!!!" Mira exclaimed as she ran towards him, and Ray dropped his pack so he could catch her the moment she threw herself into his arms.
Being a Tauren and a demihuman, Mira was a lot taller and more endowed than any other human girl her age, meaning that certain body parts were more developed than those of human girls her age.
Her soft and huge mountain peaks jiggled and pressed against Ray’s chest as she wrapped her arms tightly around him, sniffling softly against his neck.
"You’re back, you’re really back." She muttered repeatedly as she buried her face deeper into his neck.
"Of course, I am. I promised you that I would be back, didn’t I?" Ray asked, but Mira didn’t reply.
Instead, she pulled back and looked him over.
Mira’s eyes landed on the new sword at his hip, then at the bruises on his face, and finally on the dried blood on his clothes.
"You’re hurt..."
"I’m fine. It’s just a few bruises here and there."
"But Ray-?"
Ray kissed her, cutting off whatever she was about to say, and Mira made a small sound of surprise before melting against him.
Her arms wrapped around his neck once again and she slowly kissed him back with the same intensity, almost as though she was trying to make up for all the number of kisses they had missed out on since Ray left the village.
But one thing was very clear as she continued to kiss him, Mira was very happy and relieved to see him return home safely.
When they finally pulled apart, tears had already begun streaming down her face.
"I was so worried. I thought maybe you wouldn’t come back." She whispered, but Ray smiled softly as he patted her head while hugging her.
The two continued to remain that way in silence until the front door opened and Helen stepped out with Emma right behind her.
"Ray!!" Emma shrieked as she barreled into him before wrapping her arms around his waist.
"You’re back! You’re back! I knew you’d come back!"
"Well duh, why wouldn’t I come back to the cutest little chipmunk in the world?"
"I’m not a chipmunk." Emma pouted cutely but giggled as she hugged her big brother even tighter.
Meanwhile, Helen approached him more slowly with tears brimming in her eyes.
Then she hugged him while being mindful of the bruises she had noticed on his body.
"Welcome home, son."
Ray smiled and hugged his mother even more.
It had only been a few days since he left the house, but seeing how all three ladies were acting like he had left the house for years, Ray couldn’t help but feel his heart swell with relief at the fact that he had really regressed to the past and was given a second chance to make things right with his family.
And why wouldn’t he want to make things right with them, after all, he had the best family in the world. So he was more than willing to do anything to make all of them very happy.
That night, after dinner, Ray sat around the table with his family.
He pulled the leather pouch from his pack before setting it on the table
Gold coins spilled out and Helen’s eyes went wide. "Ray? Is that?"
"Yeah, that’s thirty-eight gold coins and I got them all from the dungeon."
"Whoa, we’re rich!!" Emma gasped with shock.
Meanwhile, Ray smiled and replied. "Yes, we are, but we aren’t rich enough yet."
Helen, on the other hand, picked up one of the coins before turning it over in her hands. "Ray...? T-This... This is a fortune. How did you...?"
"I told you mom, I know what I’m doing."
Helen looked at him with a small smile on her lips.
It was clear to everyone in the house that Ray had changed.
He had really changed a lot since he awakened his ability.
He was more confident, more serious, and more ambitious, as he displayed pure determination when carrying out his goals.
In a nutshell, he was no longer the boy she had grown accustomed to seeing.
Instead, he was more manly than she had ever known him to be.
Helen’s grip tightened around the coin she was holding as she called out to Ray. "Son? I’m so proud of you, and I’m sure your father would be too."
"Thanks, mom."
