Meanwhile, Emma tugged on his sleeve and asked. "Can I have one? Just one gold coin? Please?"

Ray laughed and gently ruffled her hair. "No, little princess, but I’ll buy you something nice the next time I go to town, okay?"

Emma pouted her lips cutely, but she later broke into a grin and nodded in understanding.

As for Mira, the beautiful Tauren girl hadn’t said anything yet.

She was currently sitting next to Ray with one hand in his, while she stared at the large amount of coins on the table.

Realizing how much Ray had gained in just a single quest to the dungeon, Mira couldn’t help but be impressed by how hardworking he had been. However, she couldn’t help but feel worried about how dangerous it must have been for him when he ventured into the dungeon alone.

Mira slowly alternated her glance between the coins and her boyfriend who had clearly changed in just a matter of days.

Some time later, everyone had finished eating and had left the dining room.

While Helen and Emma went to bed, Ray and Mira sat on the porch together.

The night was cold and quiet, so the two snuggled close to watch the stars in the sky.

Mira leaned against him and the two simply remained silent until Mira muttered loud enough for Ray to hear. "It’s strange."

"What is?"

"You."

"Me? How so?"

"You seem so different, ever since you became an Awakened."

"Well, isn’t that the whole point of being an Awakened, to be different, stronger, and more unique?"

"Yes, I know, but I..."

"You miss the way things used to be, right?"

"Yeah."

Growing up together, aside from wanting to become an Awakened, Ray and Mira had always shared the same dream of living a simple, peaceful life in the village where the two of them would grow old together as farmers.

Of course, Ray hadn’t forgotten about this.

But Mira feared that now that Ray had become an Awakened, it was only a matter of time before he left the village, abandoning their shared dream altogether.

Knowing what was bothering her, Ray smiled and stroked her hair gently.

The two fell silent once again until Mira called out to him.

"Ray?"

"Mm?"

"Your mom said something to me yesterday."

"Was it about having grandkids?" Ray teased, but Mira smacked his chest lightly with a huge blush on her face.

"I’m being serious, silly."

Ray smiled and nodded in defeat. "Alright, alright, no more teasing for now. So, what did she say?"

"She said whenever a person awakens, the goddess sends a message to the cathedral and a priestess is sent over to recruit them."

"Yes,"

"So, does that mean a priestess will be heading over to the village soon?"

"Yeah, most likely."

Mira’s face turned into a frown as she realized that Ray would be recruited by a priestess in the next couple of weeks or months.

And if a priestess does show up, Mira was confident that Ray would be taken to the capital city.

He might even be recruited directly by the elite warrior’s party, and if that happened, then it was certain that Ray would be leaving them.

Realizing this, Mira sighed deeply as she grabbed Ray’s shirt in a tight grip, almost as though she wanted to hold on to him like that forever.

But Ray wasn’t surprised to see this.

It was easy for him to know what she was thinking of at the moment, so he gave her a kiss on her forehead before returning his gaze back to the stars in the sky.

"You are worried that the elite warrior’s party will ask me to join their party, aren’t you?" Ray asked softly and Mira nodded slowly.

"Y-yes."

"Well, as honorable as that may be, I doubt that party will be interested in someone like me, and to be fair, even I do not want to have anything to do with them."

Mira pulled her head back and asked with a puzzled look on her face "Are you saying that you don’t want to join the elite warriors’ party?"

"Something like that."

"But I thought joining their party had always been your dream?"

"Yeah, but my family is more important to me than fame and you are an important member of my family too," Ray assured her with a slight tap on her nose.

A smile appeared on Mira’s face because she was touched by his words, but she swiftly composed herself. "Are you sure about this? No one has ever turned down an offer from the cathedral or the elite warrior’s party before."

"Well, I guess there’s a first time for everything." Ray joked, but Mira wasn’t smiling, and neither did she find it funny.

"..."

*Sighs* "It’s like I said, I don’t even think they will be interested in a peasant like me, so you’ve got nothing to worry about. Besides, with everything we’ve been hearing about them recently, I don’t see why I should join their party." Ray explained and Mira had no response to that.

She had heard of the rumors as well.

These were rumors regarding how the elite warriors’ party treated peasants in certain villages and towns.

Of course, since they were just rumors, no one really knew if they were true or not.

"So, you’re really going to stay with us?" Mira asked, just to be certain that she hadn’t imagined what he had said earlier.

"Yes."

"Okay, but is that why you’re training so hard? To earn more money? For us?"

"Yes, and no."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, you’re right but there is a separate reason as to why I train a lot."

"What is it?" Mira asked while leaning closer to him.

Ray noticed this, so he smiled and kissed her lips. "Maybe, another time. But for now, it’s time for us to head straight to bed."

"But..."

"No buts, unless you want me to grab your butt, instead?" Ray teased but without waiting for a response, his fingers swiftly grabbed her round and soft rump, forcing a cute squeal to slip out of her lips.

The cute Tauren swiftly brought herself to her feet but Ray’s eyes had now turned into that of a predator’s gaze because Mira’s squeal had been at a pitch that was close to being a moan, and Ray really wanted to hear it again.

He got up as well, while his fingers moved as though they had a mind of their own. Then he began to chase after her but Mira giggled softly as she ran straight into the house to hide from him.

The two laughed out loud as Ray chased after her, caught her, pinned her against the bed, and grabbed her soft booty.

He touched, bit, kissed, and spanked her, with the hope of hearing more of her moans and laughter.

He continued this until he was finally satisfied, then the two played around and tickled each other until they fell asleep from exhaustion.
