Chapter 157: Extra

*Knock! Knock! Knock!*

I gently knocked on the door, waiting for an answer. Almost instantly, someone opened the door as if expecting my arrival.

I was met with a blue-eyed girl wearing a white hoodie. She gave me a nod as she moved to the side.

"Come in."

I smiled as I entered her suite. Obviously, this girl was Liora.

After finishing my job in my store, I told her that I would visit her to talk with her about something urgent.

I had already planned a conversation that may or may not confirm my suspicions. If I didn’t get anything today, I’d simply keep doing more tests with her and the others.

The moment I entered her suite, I frowned instantly as I was hit with a familiar smell.

’This damn fish smell!’

Of course her suite would smell like fish, why wouldn’t it? She was living with a mermaid! For a man with high senses like me, this place was a damn nightmare.

I stopped using my nose as I scanned the suite. It was similar to the one I had, but it was smaller, less luxurious, and the mana density was lower.

Liora closed the door, then I sat with her in the living room. For some reason, I couldn’t sense Alexia anywhere.

As I opened my mouth to say something, Liora suddenly raised her hand. "Wait... I need to do something first."

My brows almost furrowed. "Yes, of course."

The next moment, she took a small black ball out of her storage. It seemed to be an artifact.

Her heart started thumping quickly as she looked at me then the artifact. Was she nervous about something?

Liora took a deep breath, then, she channeled her aether to the artifact.

"....!"

My sense of danger suddenly activated, warning me of something wrong in that artifact.

’Glutton!’

[Give me a second!]

Without hesitation, I fused with Glutton and enhanced my body, and a second later, my spatial awareness weakened.

My eyes widened as the realization struck me like a truck — this was a similar but stronger effect to Taigo’s cube!

Standing up, my tentacles pointed at her like sharp spears, lightning danced around my entire body, BlackHail was summoned, my pressure of fear and bloodlust were unleashed, and I prepared myself to attack her with cosmic flames at any moment.

"Wait, it isn’t as it seems." Liora said as her mask covered her face, her breath becoming heavier with every second.

I looked at her sharply. "Explain."

Liora nodded. "Yes, it’s me. I’m an extra, just like you."

I froze for a moment, stunned by her revelation, but then I held myself together and hissed: "How did you know? And since when?"

My mind began to form multiple theories, each one looked as believable as the others.

Was it on how I acted? Was my food the reason? Was it my soul? Did I show a suspicious reaction for something she said unconsciously?

Liora took a deep breath and said: "Calm down and sit first... we can discuss that without killing each other."

I squinted my eyes but didn’t argue. I sat down and stopped the fusion, but I didn’t let my guard down.

The only reason I agreed was the exhaustion of the fusion, but that show should be enough to stop her from doing anything funny.

Liora stayed on her chair, looking at me calmly despite her tensed body.

"I have confirmed this recently, when I knew that you started having nightmares the same day the Nightmare Shepherd came into my dream to recruit me."

’Fuck that!’

No wonder she was curious about my nightmares. I should have expected that!

"I wanted to approach you back then, but I didn’t know how. Fortunately, you came to me instead. If you don’t mind... did you accept his offer?"

Hiding all my emotions under an indifferent face, I answered: "Why would I tell you?"

"Be-Because we are on the same side. You have read the ancient novel as well, right? We should work together to either stop Arthur from getting corrupted before he becomes the Origin or help Adrian."

’Wait, what the fuck?’

As I was confused, I remembered that she had a small chance to be from earth. Was her version from the novel... ancient novel?

And what about Arthur’s corruption? Who was Adrian? And most importantly, what did she mean by Arthur becoming an Origin?!

Thinking about that, a dangerous theory formed in my mind.

"Liora... are you saying that Arthur was the one who became an evil origin... and that was a bad ending for you?"

Liora looked at me with confusion. "Yes, isn’t that obvious?"

My gaze sharpened instantly. "What is your race?"

"I don’t understand—"

"What is your race?!"

Her confusion seemed to only increase as she brought her hand to her right eye. She kept moving her hand dangerously closer to her eye, but before her nails could harm her, she grabbed something invisible out.

My jaw almost fell as two black horns rose from her head and her skin became paler, then she said: "I’m a demon, or knull... chosen by chaos."

’I understand now.’

From the start, she wasn’t a human. She was reincarnated as a knull.

In this stupid, fucking academy, a knull was sitting before me, and that knull was even one of the top students inside the most secure place in this damn world!

What were the guards of this place taking their salary for? I myself killed two people and didn’t get caught!

I looked at Liora, her eyes were glowing, looking at me as if waiting for something.

She said earlier that we were on the same side. Was she thinking that I was a knull as well? Although that wasn’t expected, I could more or less understand why she thought I was one.

From the way she talked until now, she seemed to not know that there were different potential futures, even though she knew about the other reincarnators. Maybe Isaac didn’t tell her too much for some reason.

So, she didn’t know that whatever she read wasn’t the same as mine, even though I only read the end.

Still, that was a great opportunity for me. She could clear my doubts about what Isaac said, and even provide me with something more valuable.

’Hehe, Glutton, I think I can finally get some future knowledge.’

Suddenly, I became really excited for this conversation.
