Reincarnated into a Doomed Novel as an Unknown Extra-Chapter 161: Breakthrough [2]
’Glutton... can you see this thing?’
[I’m not sure what I’m looking at...]
’It doesn’t look scary at all.’
In front of us, there was a tiny funny-looking skull staring at us with its hollow eyes.
The skull was dark purple and was the size of my fist. It was jumping happily above my hand while making cute and funny sounds.
"Kro kro!"
[How is it even jumping without legs?]
’I have no idea. Maybe in the same way it’s making sounds without even having a tongue’ 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
That skeleton was Night Terror’s new ability.
The first ability gave me a scary aura, which was now more intense than ever. I could probably kill someone with a heart attack if they were weak enough.
The second ability made me get stronger the more people feared me. At Tier-3, it started to restore my mental power as well.
Now, it could store frightened people’s fear and use it in emergencies. In other words, I now had a small mental power battery.
The third ability was what allowed me to store two spells. Nothing changed about it other than I was now able to store Tier-4 spells.
’I need to meet Arthur later to take his healing spell.’
Now, there was this strange skull.
If I understood my ability right, then this thing was supposed to devour others’ fear to grow bigger and more terrifying. It would then attack my enemies mentally and weaken them.
It was a really good ability, especially when used with my ability to store fear energy. I was slowly turning into a terrifying enemy.
’Well, that’s all about Night Terror.’
I clenched my fist lightly, turning the skull into dark mist, and summoned my other weapon — BlackHail.
Its first ability was the power of the longbow’s string, which had increased even more now. It was still light in drawing, but extremely heavy after releasing.
The second ability was what made my arrows silent and gave them decreased air resistance. Now, the air resistance not only improved, but the wind would even start to help the arrows move faster and remain stable.
The third ability was a passive ability that used lightning to make me think faster. Now, the ability improved significantly and the pressure on my brain decreased.
In addition to these, I now had a new ability that seemed quite interesting.
Without hesitation, I stood up and shot a normal aether arrow. Before it could touch the dummy, it disappeared.
*Bam!*
Some of my aether was consumed, and the arrow appeared behind another dummy and pierced its head.
I smiled. ’Not bad at all.’
The new ability gave me five seconds to teleport the launched arrow. With this ability, I could either make the arrow hit my enemy’s blind spot rapidly without needing to cast a gate, or take my arrow back after it hit an enemy.
I was always afraid that I wouldn’t be able to take back my artificial arrows, but this ability was easily solving this problem.
’Well, I’m done now.’
I tested my new strength for a few minutes and returned to sit with Selene, talking with her about tomorrow’s exam and patting her head lightly.
Well, technically, I wasn’t patting her head. That was a mere illusion made by Kyle, and he made me notice that on purpose. But I was used to it by now.
In fact, since Kyle had returned two months ago, Selene and I never actually touched. It was strange, but not too annoying.
After a few minutes of talking, my time in Lunara’s office finally arrived.
Looking at the time in my bracelet, I looked at Selene and said: "I’ll meet you soon, Lunara won’t be here today. I’ll only meet Yami."
"Oh, okay. I’ll go to the library for a while. You’ll find me there if you need me."
Nodding to her, she stood up and left, leaving me alone in the suite.
After waiting for a few minutes, I blinked and found myself in Lunara’s office, sitting on a chair behind Yami.
’Tsk, she intentionally waits for me to blink before teleporting me. I’m sure now!’
I scanned the office, and as expected, Lunara was nowhere to be seen.
"Hi... congrats on your breakthrough." Yami greeted me emotionlessly, but his hand was open as if waiting for something.
Tsk, why was everyone around me gluttonous? Even a damn ghost wasn’t spared!
Sighing inwardly, I took a big box out of my storage and gave it to Yami. Without hesitation, he opened the box and took a donut out of it.
I made these donuts myself. They were far better than the ones he used to eat.
"Thank Ỳ̡̛̀̕͢͢͡ờ̷͜͟u̸̷͟͜͝"
Hearing Yami’s terrifying voice, I frowned. "Try to control this crap, it’s really annoying when your voice turns like this."
Yami nodded silently and took another bite from the donut.
We had become very close over the past two months, especially after I started making donuts for him. If we were in a Chinese novel, I’d have called him my senior brother.
Thankfully, we weren’t.
"So, what are we doing now? Another spar?" I asked curiously.
Yami nodded and extended his hand. "Hold my hand..."
"Huh?"
"Just do it."
Confused, I held his hand, feeling his coldness. His body was colder than even Selene.
All of a sudden, I felt a strange sensation as a surge of information entered my head.
My eyes widened instantly. "You finished the sword?"
[Hell yeah! My sword is finally here!]
Yami nodded. "Yes, and I hope you like it. The katana doesn’t have any abilities, but as you use it, it’ll adapt to your style and make its own abilities like any soul-bound artifact."
I nodded in understanding.
’Glutton, you heard that, right?’
[Hehe, yeah, and I’ll use it well.]
After finishing his first donut, Yami stood up.
"Follow me, I’ll test your improvement."
I sighed helplessly as I stood up and followed him into a room with a big arena.
Every week, we would have a small fight, either alone or under Lunara’s gaze. But I wasn’t really excited about it.
As usual, I was going to lose.
