Reincarnated into a Snow Griffin-Chapter 106
As I fly I cannot help but be entranced by the glint of the silver bracelet and the way the light hits the azure sapphire, making it appear to have a deeper tone of blue or sometimes even green, looking like something that would come out of the deepest unexplored areas of the sea, almost as if holding part of the essence of the ocean in itself.
What an odd beautiful trickery... and yet as I let its curves roll around in my mind I cannot help but feel there is more to this than it appears to be.
I’m still wondering about it once my feet reach the open balcony of our inn, but the lack of sounds and light soon tells me that Ethan is still out and about before I can even have a small panic attack about how to react after... well, after all of that, how to be tactical about this.
Well, maybe pushing Ethan against the wall and telling him I’ll date him but I’m still mad at him for lying and biting me while stealing a kiss doesn’t sound like a bad idea after all.
I mean...Wait what? Well, his lips are really soft after all... and I like how warm his skin feels against mine cold one...
Stop it now, this is not a honey moon, we have a mission to complete... which doesn’t mean we cannot enjoy it while it lasts.
I think I’m having a mental breakdown, especially while talking to myself like this, with opposite takes on the situation at the moment.
Dear mother I’ve spent too much time with this rascal, his ways have started to rub on me... and I am a little ashamed to say that I may have been enjoying this attention quite a lot.
Still, with no Ethan in sight I grab one of the fresh and clean apples left by the inn staff on a basket and take a bite while sitting down to wait for his return, putting my feet high and letting my wings relax as I lay over a divan put close to the balcony, overlooking the city and having its wind brush against my feathers as I twist and turn my wrist to have an overlook of the bracelet.
I take another bite of the apple. Perhaps is not the object itself that I should be focusing on, but the words of that strange creature... he did say something about a gift, and about cold hearted creatures...
"Cold heart uhm..." I think before finishing the apple, about how the once cold bones were now bare, and how this metal seemed kin to the same aura those emanated. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
It can’t be that simple, can it? Still I give it a try.
"Frost." With my newly acquired spell my once normal breathing turns into a misty white fan of cold air that gushes out of it, covering the metal and quite easily making it burning cold to the touch.
And bringing the crystal to life.
So many shapes and colors, with a bright light of its own just like before that makes me believe that there is truly a small ecosystem inside that piece of jewelry, a small piece of the sea capture inside.
So it should not have been a surprise when it outshines itself and makes me close my eyes, only to find myself back in that glass place.
"What in the..." I start saying but realize it is actually... not quite the same. The first thing is that, even if the structure is quite the same the space on itself is completely empty of any plants or life presence, and the most outstanding difference is that... there is no sea over my head but airstream and snow drifting like curtains, oddly enough not closing the view around in white but passing as if made by the mirage of many snowflakes, ghostly and yet beautiful, dancing in the air and actually managing to get inside only enough so to carry its beauty to the solemn emptiness of the glass palace.
And the view... the view reminded me of home.
I am standing at the top of a mountain covered in white, and to all sides all I could see is the same color, a long stretched carpet of snow, the floor, the sea of clouds under, it is amazing and comforting in a way only a creature born from the coldest winter night would feel and know, the sensation of the first rain after a dry summer, a comfort for the dry eyes, to the sad soul, a place of peace and quiet.
"A tomb you say..." The creature’s words resonate with me as I look at this quiet yet empty place, and I can understand the feeling even if my mind does not understand the meaning. "What have you given me mysterious being?" I look down at the bracelet, expecting to find the answers there, only that once I look down at the metal my eyes actually find a book in my hands that I had not realized I was holding until now, a silver cover with no title beyond the same intrigued patterns on the bracelet, and even a thin silver chain uniting it with the metal.
I frown but not for long, as much as I’m curious and confused by the current event, the beauty and mysteriousness of it all intrigues me the most.
And it is what makes me open the book at once.
I would not have the clarity of mind to keep the mysterious any longer, left to guess what could be in this book, and I’m not surprised to find that even the paper within is inquisitive and brilliant, almost as if coated in silver and brushed with pure ice on the edges, a piece of art on its own inside another hard covered silver book.
The only thing is... as I brush such smooth pages back and forth I’ve come to realize that they are... they are completely empty! There is no word, no image no nothing! To my utmost disappointment I do not give up by pure stubbornness, thinking such a precious strange item could not be for naught, and that is the grace that makes me come to the only filled page of it all, a single one amidst an empty silver laying, and what it has inside brings a smile to my cold lips and a rare glint of satisfaction to my eyes.
For in it is a tome of magical spells!
