Reincarnated into a Snow Griffin-Chapter 153
I am surprised at first, but I should have guessed there would be something related like this.
"Alinda, she never really told me where he was though, but this lady is cunning and managed to find out where." She says, flustering her small wings with pride. "But alas, only that would not have been enough, but she told this lady something you never cared for, to keep safe in case anything happen, to let someone else known beyond only herself, that is."
She has me a little intrigued but the fact it has to do with my father, or worse yet, with the reason as to why he left us, makes me want to turn a deaf ear to her words, but instead I force myself to listen, even if grudgingly.
"These unmapped mountains northeast between Icemeet and Balmoral were once known to be the home of a very large group of dwarves, but isolated as they were by the unfriendly weather and remote location most of what it is know is from the remains of their civilizations, there was a King, there was prosperity, too much of it even within these mountains, gemstones, gold and minerals, riches beyond the imagination that could shine in the dark brighter than the night sky full of starts, or so your mother said. But as fast as they raised to glory they fell as well."
"Poachers?" Ethan asks, his interested picked as he looks back at us from the rails as he kept a safe distance from the edge, happy to leave it as he goes to our table and sitts down, joining in our conversation. "Robbers?"
"They wish." She says. "It was something far more wicked. But their downfall came, slow and digged by their own hands, in the name of one of the greatest destroyers kwown to man: greed."
"But wait, I don’t get it, what does it have to do with Seraph’s father?" Asks Ethan who quickly receives a sharp shush in response.
"And how will you know if you do not let this lady talk?" She puts her hands on her hips and scolds Ethan and I hide a smile behind my mug, knowing full well not to go against Lily in, well, any matter really.
She is really a sturborn devil when she wants to be.
"That’s right." She nods, satisfied at his bewildered silent face. "Well, what matter most is the consequences of today not really how it came, but this lady will continue to tell what it is known about it." She gives a dry cough and continues:
"Dwarves share one of the worst characteristics that humans have, and this lady supposes that’s why they are so close together, both are very greedy and won’t ever be satisfied, so once they found gold they kept digging, once they found gemstones they kept digging, once it wouldn’t dry out they dug and dug until... they found what they should not have, a Dungeon hidden in the most darkest and unreachable place of earth, now brought to the surface by these cunning greedy bunch." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
We stay in silence, wondering just how powerful and dreadful would a dungeon be to wipe a population out like this.
"You very well known how dungeons are always tricky to deal with, this lady and Alinda taught you that." Lily says and I feel like I’m back at being a kid and hearing her lecture me, her expecting eyes the same of a professor waiting for their student’s answer.
I clean my throat before saying: "Quite so, dungeons are believed to be cracks in space that surge from many reasons, from the moving of the earth to a great calamity impact, that creates a void that needs filling, that’s when the veins of the cosmos that link all there is and were will copy a place from afar and generate it in the crack, raising odd and unique dungeons all around."
Lily is nodding all the way while Ethan has a face of someone who has a stomachache. "Indeed, that’s why it is so hard to predict how dungeons will behave, and why they are so pursuit out by adventures, their treasures are worth the risk of conquering them... most of the time, that is."
"But this one... this one had true demons inside, a portal to hell, and I knew to look here because... in one of the moments that this lady unfortunately slip and got capture I saw one of the beasts from this place, and this lady do not know how those hunters acquired it but what this lady know is that... Seraph, your father may have a very good reason to stay here, all this lady can hope is there a way for him to help locate the High Lands from here..."
At that point someone comes to talk with the Owner of the Auction House Lewis and whispers only for his ears, and next he walks towards us, his white hair whipping with the wind and his yellow eyes shining as much as the long yellow coat he is wearing with a purple full scarf around his neck, the bright colors stronger looking against the white cold landscape, but they somehow fit him just fine, giving him an elegant eclectic look, so kin to Lewis.
"My boys, my lady, it seems this is the end of our ride, we cannot approach the mountains any further and there is no land spot for miles, it seems there is a permanent storm around those peeks and the winds and snow will destroy my ship if we try to land. Any suggestions?"
I look at Ethan and he already has his eyes on mine as we nod to each other and, putting the drinks on the table, say:
"Lily, stay warm and safe here, we will be going down." I say and, before she can protest, I complete: "If anything happens to me we have to make sure that lion pays for what he did."
Her mouth closes almost audible as she frowns, but in the end nods and says: "Don’t forget, you will be looking for a Tiger Griffin named Camillo, Camillo Tillman."
I nod at that before standing, thinking just how a bad joke it was that I did not even knew the name of my father until now.
How odd indeed.
