Reincarnated With A Glitched System: Why Is My MP Not Running Out?-Chapter 1601: Meeting Of Parents
-----
Agua brought back her mother, the village's chief, alongside several shamans and druids of the village. They seemed rather amazed by the presence of the heroes, the same way they did with Aquarina, so she assumed it wasn't a thing specific to her and it might be to all heroes. Although the people of Everstone were pretty friendly and knew who Aquarina was and all, they never reached this level of amazement.
"The people at Everstone weren't that surprised about us getting there… Well, I mean they were at first but not this much," Aquarina said, as Silvia and Justicio heard her talking.
"Yeah, I guess this village praises the gods more? After all the heroes are considered to be the avatars of the gods' divinities into the mortal world sometimes," Silvia said.
"Or maybe not, and it's just another thing entirely," Justicio shrugged. "Whatever the case I think they should relax a bit."
Aquarina glanced her parents growing embarrassed of the treatment they were receiving, which was very kind, from the chief and her shamans.
"It is an honor to be visited by two heroes today… Thank you for blessing our grounds with your divine presence."
She bowed her head at the same time as her group, making Aquarina feel a bit embarrassed, perhaps even more than before.
"Y-You don't need to do that! Please stop…" Nepheline facepalmed. "That's just a bit too much…"
"We aren't deities or something, we are just humans," Shade said. "To be honest, we aren't particularly proud or fond of our titles, even less the blessings we carry."
"Such humility…" the chief's eyes glowed brightly, as she shed a tear. "I'm moved…"
"R-Really now?" Nepheline facepalmed. "Enough, please. You're the chief of this village, right?"
"Yes, that's right…" Agua's mother nodded. "I heard from my daughter you just arrived with her new friends. You're welcome to this jungle, and you can stay as much as you want."
"Ah, well, first of all, we came here for something," said Shade. "We wanted to first apologize on behalf of our daughter."
"A-Apologize? Why?" the chief wondered, confused.
"It's because this girl over here has only caused you more trouble than anything else," sighed Nepheline. "Always getting herself involved where she shouldn't, and I heard you took very drastic decisions, and are doing a lot of things just because she suddenly wanted to force this girl to become her friend… We are very sorry."
"With due respect, heroine, but Aquarina hasn't forced me to become her friend…" Agua muttered. "I am very happy to be her friend… And I don't think she has brought any trouble either! I-If anything, she has helped me out feel a bit better… about myself."
"Is that so?" Nepheline wondered, rubbing her chin. "Even then, you're preparing this whole ritual and everything just because she ended doing things she shouldn't have…"
"But heroine, are you implying your daughter shouldn't had become friends with mine?" wondered the chief, looking a bit saddened.
"A-Ah! I didn't mean that! S-Sorry if it sounded weird… I just, well, it still effort and trouble… Sorry," said Nepheline.
The chief smiled gently, giggling a bit.
"Perhaps you are too humble, heroine, there's nothing to be sorry about. With my daughter we had a talk, and we were able to reconnect, something we hadn't done in many years," said the chief. "If anything, I am grateful your daughter has given my daughter her friendship, and also the courage to talk to me about her feelings."
"So that's how it is…" Shade nodded, glaring at Nepheline.
Then Aquarina also glared at her mother.
Both father and daughter crossed their arms, looking at Nepheline without saying a word.
But she could easily hear what they were trying to say.
A big "I told you so".
Nepheline sighed, rubbing her forehead for a bit.
"So that's what happened… I understand now," Nepheline muttered. "Even then, this is also Aquarina's responsibility, and ours. So we'll help if there's anything we can do."
"O-Oh! I see, yes, I suppose you could help with the ritual circle formation and its creation?" wondered Agua's mother. "But more than anything, I sense you came here for another motive as well."
"Well yeah, we came here to check the dungeon, if you would allow us," Shade explained. "As heroes, we feel the necessity to make sure people is safe. That dungeon, as our daughter told us, is still growing, but might have been tampered with by another person, or another antagonistic force we would rather deal with on our own, instead of letting innocent people get caught in any machinations."
"I see…" the chief nodded. "Very well, you're allowed, of course. We heard from Agua that the children fought several powerful monsters, but they weren't anything out of line… however the ruins of that ancient undersea civilization and how there were many artifacts missing… did indeed worry me."
"That's right," Nepheline nodded. "But there's no hurry, we can help you out right now and then depart."
"Thank you! But are you sure you want to do it right now? How about we eat something first? We would love to offer you some of our meals!" the chief said.
"I'm grateful, truly, but I am not really hungry right now," Shade said.
"Me neither, how about we save it for dinner? We'll bring our own food so we can share!" Nepheline talked very casually.
"O-Of course! If you insist, it is our honor," nodded the chief with a happy, yet slightly surprised smile.
The heroes were sure blunt! And lacked a lot of manners as well… But well, they weren't being meanspirited either.
"For now, we'll prepare the ritual," said the chief. "We were wondering if Aquarina and her friends could assist us with a few things as well, as someone with her powers could be very useful."
"Huh? Ah, I wanted to play in the jungle…" Aquarina sighed. "But sure! I'll help if necessary. As mom said, it is also my responsibility."
Aquarina joined Agua and her mother, alongside Pyuku, Silvia, and Justicio, and even Leviathan and Undine, who all glanced at the formation in front of the Oasis.
This was a Ritualistic Formation that offered special items or monsters as sacrificial offerings for the Spirit of the Oasis to emerge and speak to them.
She always asked for a few offerings here and there, and she was well known as someone slightly greedy.
