Chapter 1379: Becky Is Impatient!

"Do you think they will make a strong stand over that hot zone base or retreat?" After half a day, it was clear that the decisive battle for that hot zone was drawing close with every passing hour.

William already shared his thoughts with his friends, and Becky couldn’t help but ask when the latest report came. Lina already drew close enough to see the faraway marks of that base. And she was expected to engage with the forces defending the base in an hour or two.

"That’s what I want to know." William didn’t settle his mind yet, as he knew what the enemy would choose would reveal lots of hidden secrets for him.

If they decided to make a stand, then they had what it took to stop his monsters. Yet that would reveal what secret weapon they hid, and William would assess the future steps based on what they would reveal.

Yet if they decided to wait and hold back their strength, retreat and regroup with other hot zones, then it would mean they didn’t have enough upper realm masters, or their hidden card wasn’t that great.

William’s wait didn’t last more than four more hours, as reports started to pour in from Lina’s side.

"They retreated, simply like that!" Lara was speechless, "Don’t they have a hidden weapon or what?"

"Their weapon must be weaker than what William showed," Becky muttered, "the monsters are a problem they can’t handle with whatever they have, so the best course is to reserve their strength and retreat!"

"At last we gained a victory," Anjie turned to Willian, "we need to spread the news, tell everyone on our side about this victory."

"Sure, it’s a well-earned victory," William didn’t object to what Anjie proposed, "send the word to every army, tell them we won a big battle!"

"How about Lina?" Lara turned her attention towards this point, "The enemy didn’t send any more reinforcements, and that zone is now secured. Shall she push forward?"

"Of course she should," William slowly nodded, "let her leave half of her forces behind, move the rest to aid this hot zone."

William picked the closest hot zone to Lina. What Lina achieved was thanks to the weakness the enemy tried to showcase for a long time, ending up with what they planned to come and bite them back!

If the enemy decided to keep playing this losing game, then William would gladly comply.

"And we won’t move anytime soon, right?" Becky was growing impatient, yet she knew without asking that William wouldn’t move out anytime soon.

"A chance will present itself," William looked at the map, "the enemy may lose another base to us, retreat their forces, but they eventually will have to stay strong and defend their grounds. Then we’ll move to hit them where they least expected!"

As William foresaw it, the enemy gave up the base Lina targeted. In less than three days, the enemy lost two hot zones, suffered lots of losses, yet they managed to preserve the core and strongest forces on their side.

It was a bad hit for them, yet they didn’t lose that much. William knew they wouldn’t give up any more bases easily, not when the general morale skyrocketed, and William’s masters felt they could win this war!

"They are trying to put more pressure on other places." On the fifth day, it was clear that the enemy was shifting their tactics. They poured lots of reinforcements into other places, trying to place more pressure on William’s side.

"Shall we send more support to these spots?" Lara asked what the other two girls were thinking about. And yet William slowly shook his head.

"They are trying to play with us using the same game we are playing; they want to push us to send reinforcements, lowering the pressure over the remaining three hot zones."

"That means these zones are special to them," Becky got what William wanted to convey, "I don’t see any strategic advantage over these hot zones to be honest."

"The same puzzle I face," Anjie sighed, "I can’t see what the enemy will gain from holding these three bases!"

"It’s not about the location advantage," William cleared the mystery in front of their eyes, "it’s what makes these forces at the three bases that makes them quite valuable! The enemy can’t simply retreat from them, or else they will be hunted and cornered, ending up in less favourable spots."

"You mean it’s the masters gathered there that mattered the most to them," Anjie said in a low tone, while realising this might be the case.

"That’s... Stupid!" Lara sighed, "I can’t believe they gathered all the big masters on their side over these spots!"

"They were planning a trap for us," William casually said, "and that meant they moved the most capable masters over these areas."

"Then... Should we let them escape?" Becky’s eyes shone brightly, "Don’t tell me..."

"Yes, it’s going to be our moment soon, get ready!" William looked at the map while weighing up the perfect spot to land.

"I’m ready!" Becky shouted in excitement, startling the other two girls.

"He won’t move right away," Lara rolled her eyes, growing tired of how impatient Becky was.

"But we’ll move soon," Becky didn’t mind what Lara said; instead, she was busy imagining when they’d move out to strike.

"The real question is, which zone will you hit?" Anjie moved her eyes between the map and William, thinking the same as William.

"I’d say you wait till the fight intensifies and they get forced to send reinforcements to one spot," Lara said what she thought, and yet William slowly shook his head.

"They won’t move any single master anymore," He paused before something hit him, "send orders around, let the armies see if their enemies had shrunk their size at any battlefield."

"You mean..." Lara’s eyes shone brightly, "They can’t move a few masters to aid, and sending a large number will be noticed for sure!"

"Perhaps they did the same as us," Becky grasped what William realised just now, "perhaps they sent a few masters from different battlefields, gathered them up, and now forming a sizeable force without noticing it!"
