Reincarnation Of The Strongest Spirit Master-Chapter 1384: The Mystery Is Solved!
Yet when she walked after William, Becky started to sense the weak signs of a very lethal toxin, spreading in the air!
She started to emit her spirit power around, using it as a pure defensive shield against toxins. This was the most primitive, yet the most effective, type of defence against toxins, especially when masters didn’t know the nature and special properties of the toxins.
"This formation is useful when fighting against a large number of enemies," William slowly explained, "I’m sure you can feel it now, the toxin spreading in the air. This isn’t just a normal toxin; it can steal your enemy’s spirit power and lend it over to you and your allies."
"What?!!" Becky’s eyes grew wide when she heard what he said. And William slowly nodded.
"That’s why using it against just the two of us, and with the lack of their masters around, means they have wasted this precious formation without gaining anything!"
"Perhaps they grew scared of your monsters?" Becky pointed towards the monsters around, and got startled to see them walk directly through everything, without suffering a single damage! "What are they doing?!" Yet she couldn’t help but point at them and ask.
"They won’t get any harm from this world’s spirit power," William blinked when he realised she didn’t fully grasp the situation unfolding here, "look, this formation might be scary up there..."
"It definitely is, even down here!" She interrupted him, and yet he simply smiled and continued what he was saying:
"... And that is thanks to the high spirit power grade in the upper realm. So using it in my world won’t only reduce the formation of its deadly nature by a noticeable margin, but even against my monsters, it will stand powerless."
"That’s due to the special area you built them at, right?"
"And the little spirit gathering formations I used over their core parts," William paused, "yet I still don’t get it, why will they waste such a formation against just the two of us? Without even standing around to suck any spirit power we have!"
"That’s indeed a mystery," Becky paused, "perhaps they meant to delay another army, not us."
"That might be the case," William still couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was amiss. And soon enough, he’d find out the main reason.
As he guessed, this formation was perfect against a large number of masters, an army perhaps. Yet aside from the formation of his monsters activated, there was nothing else.
"I sense something at a far distance," yet the mystery was resolved faster than they thought. William was spreading out his monsters in a new region when Becky suddenly came from the front, shouting like that.
"What did you see?" William spread his sense but couldn’t find anything abnormal.
"There, a few klicks away, there is a big fight going on between two armies."
"There? There shouldn’t be any army belonging to us out there!" William was surprised, as per the latest intel he got before leaving Lara’s city, there wasn’t even a single team close to these areas. He followed Becky’s directions towards a small hill, where he saw what she mentioned before.
"See? There is an ongoing battle out there," she said as if William was doubting what she said earlier, "now let’s go and help those fighting against the enemy..."
"No," out of the blue, William strictly refused. He didn’t even stand in his place, turned around, and started dashing back to his monsters.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!!" Becky stood in her place for a few seconds, unable to absorb the shock. Then she dashed like an arrow, ending up standing in front of William, stopping his retreat, "They are fighting against the enemy, so they must be your allies!"
"Nope," William simply shrugged, "they are dark masters, I noticed a few special symbols on their attire."
"Dark masters? How?" Becky was speechless, yet she didn’t doubt what William said.
"I don’t know, perhaps the type of agreement between the two sides got broken thanks to the recent defeats, or perhaps the enemy is crumbling from deep within, I don’t care," William kept walking back to his monsters, before adding, "to me, both are my enemies, and I’ll kill both sides and continue moving on."
"..."
Becky thought he would play smart, wait for both sides to exhaust themselves, before jumping in and reaping the benefits.
Perhaps at other times he would have done so, but right now, with all the scary monsters on his side, he didn’t need to lean to such ’dirty and weak’ tactics.
He simply returned and gathered all his monsters, scanned the terrain of the battle, and simply walked directly towards the densest and most brutal side of this internal war!
The fight looked recent, and it felt like both sides were together before war broke out. There were lots of dead masters in a small area, before the scale of the fight expanded to cover a tens of kilometres radius.
William could tell what had happened just from the few dead bodies wearing dark master symbols. "The kingdoms’ army got backstabbed," he muttered, while his appearance didn’t attract much attention at first.
He was walking with fifty large monsters, and Becky. They didn’t look that much in the face of such a wide scale fight that encompassed tens of thousands of masters.
It was clear the dark master side had the fewest numbers, but it felt like they were the ones winning. William could tell the backstabbing at the first came to get rid of the strongest masters in the kingdom’s army. So the rest of the kingdom’s masters were many, but weak, had the numerical advantage, but lacked enough tactical commandership.
William didn’t bother with any of that. As he walked to the outline of this raging hot battle, he simply waved an arm, and twenty monsters lunged at the front enemies.
"Kill them all," William simply declared death upon this region, "leave none alive!"
