Reincarnation Of The Strongest Spirit Master-Chapter 1503: The Refugee Problem
Yet, despite the plan's success, the sheer volume of refugees continued to flood the three headquarters. The news that the Fox Guild had established "safe grounds" had spread like wildfire through the portal network.
Everyone the Blue Purgators reached wanted to go through the gates immediately to reach the promised sanctuary. And the Fox Guild faction leaders, bound by William's philosophy of salvation, simply couldn't say no to such a desperate desire.
They had complained only days ago about the lack of spirit masters to fend off the monsters. But now they felt like they had asked for far too much on their plate. The logistics of housing, feeding, and organising millions of people forced them to convene an urgent meeting days later to find a way to solve this growing crisis.
"We can't just accept everyone without a proper plan," Anjie sighed, rubbing her temples as she looked at a stack of reports that seemed to grow every time she blinked.
"Even back at the new area I'm building, I've accepted close to three hundred thousand masters and a few million normal humans in the past five days alone! Not to mention the bigger numbers my fallen kingdom accepted. And still, the influx rate isn't decreasing. If anything, it's accelerating as more portals are linked to my territory with every passing hour!"
"Those upper realm masters aren't normal," Ro said, rolling her eyes in a mix of awe and frustration. "I never thought they could bypass the monster tides this easily. They reach places that would have taken our scouts a month to traverse, provided they survived at all!"
Ro was still reeling from the workload, even with Lina and Panther working diligently by her side. The two of them were facilitators, organising the distribution of the newly arrived humans and assigning masters to various defensive squads.
They could easily send masters to different spots in the world to fight—that was the easy part. The normal people, the non-combatant refugees, were the real problem that no one here had fully prepared for.
For every one hundred thousand masters joining their ranks, at least one million normal humans tagged along. These were the families, the servants, and the villagers who had huddled behind the masters for protection, even normal citizens of fallen towns and villages around.
To make matters even worse, the Blue Purgators hadn't even reached the truly crowded, large-scale cities and the Great Academies yet. When those portals opened, the numbers would become astronomical.
"We need to think of a permanent, large-scale solution," Lara sighed, her voice heavy with the weight of her responsibilities.
"Even back in my city, which was essentially destroyed, I let the survivors begin to rebuild and expand. But the scale of the new construction is already expanding the city boundaries tenfold, and my subordinates are telling me it still won't be enough to accommodate even ten percent of what we've received so far!"
"I have a suggestion," Becky suddenly said, her voice cutting through the heavy air of the meeting. "I didn't join your ranks long ago, but even in my short time, I can tell William always brings the most brilliant, out-of-the-box ideas to the table. He sees patterns the rest of us miss.
Why don't we send someone to explain our current situation to him and ask for his opinion? He might already have a solution for where to put all these people."
"Great idea!" Fang blurted out, nearly jumping out of his chair. He was already feeling bored to the point of madness from sitting around and dealing with the paperwork he hated most. To a warrior like him, being surrounded by refugee reports and logistics problems was a form of torture. "I'll go! I know the world William is in, and I can easily find him there."
"It's decided then," Lina concluded, "Until he sends back word or returns himself, let's keep distributing the masters over the current battlefields. Even if those fronts are becoming overcrowded, we can rotate the units to the calm zones for now. These people have been through hell; they deserve moments of rest before we can mass-produce enough spears to officially begin reclaiming our world."
The meeting ended with everyone in agreement on this approach. Fang would venture back to seek William's guidance, while the others would try their absolute best to handle the high influx of refugees and manage the burgeoning population until his return.
"You want to go back to William and need our help?" Anna paused, turning to her mentor with an inquisitive look as Fang stood by, shifting impatiently from one foot to the other.
As much as Fang wanted to return to William's side, he was no fool. He remembered the Medium World clearly—an oppressive hellscape where Scarlet Bears stood shoulder-to-shoulder as far as the eye could see.
It was obvious that William wouldn't just be standing at the gate waiting for them anymore; he was somewhere deep in that world, performing his miracle to save the world. Trying to wander around in that realm without a guide was nothing short of suicidal.
So, he needed someone from the Purgators to lead the way. He needed their legendary means for concealing presence and their unique defensive capabilities—the very abilities that had already made them famous among the Fox Guild members in just a few days.
"Sure, why not?" the old master said, giving Fang an interested look. "I'll come with you. It actually happens that I needed to speak with William about something myself, so let's go. It's better than sitting here watching portals spin." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Before departing, the old master was meticulous. He made sure to place Anna directly under the protection of the Fox Guild faction leaders, leaving behind a hand-picked team of fifty elite Purgator masters to act as her personal guard.
Only after he had received personal confirmations from Anjie, Lara, and the others to keep her safe and sound did he begin walking toward the gate leading to the Medium World.
