Chapter 125: revenge behind peace

After finishing the call, Damian returned to the room and saw Valerie sitting on the couch with her legs stretched out, massaging her hands. He immediately approached his wife and sat beside her.

"What’s wrong?"

"I’m tired," said Valerie.

Damian smiled faintly, reaching for Valerie’s hand and gently massaging it with a little pressure.

"Oh yes, that feels very nice," said Valerie, leaning her back against the sofa. "Now you have to massage me until I fall asleep," she continued.

"No, you shouldn’t sleep, that’s not fair," Damian replied, raising an eyebrow.

"Why?"

"You should massage me too... I’m tired... I’m the one who’s been carrying Daniel most of the time," Damian said.

"But you’re strong," Valerie replied with a playful smile, her eyes focused on Damian’s muscular and firm arms. "Besides, my hands are small, you won’t feel anything if I massage you," she continued, reaching out her right hand to hold Damian’s arm.

Damian just smiled as Valerie’s fingers pressed against his arm.

"This is hard, I can’t do it," Valerie pulled her hand away.

"In that case, you don’t have to do it... I’ll take painkillers and rest... I’ll sleep through the night," Damian massaged Valerie’s right and left hands alternately.

Suddenly, Valerie remembered Hannah’s plan to leave today, then she glanced back at Damian who was massaging her while lost in thought as if thinking about something. Perhaps about Karina suddenly wanting him to come to her wedding.

A little worried that discussing children might make her husband think it was a new problem because surely they would need a babysitter.

"Anyway... Hans wants to take leave starting tomorrow," Damian murmured.

Valerie immediately stared at him with furrowed brows. "Leave? For how long?"

"I don’t know... But I don’t think it’s a problem. I can manage everything without him," Damian shrugged.

Valerie sighed, unable to deny that she was disappointed now but also unable to protest.

"Hannah even decided to quit working with us," she said. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Really?" Damian was surprised.

Valerie nodded, shaking her head with a resigned look. "I don’t know why suddenly... It saddens me a lot but I also can’t stop her. I asked her What’s the problem? But she said she wants to seek a new atmosphere and wants to get closer to her family..."

She took a long breath, then leaned her head on Damian’s shoulder.

"I just feel sad because I’m used to being with her, and you know you always face difficulties together. Even she was willing to accept very little payment because at that time I didn’t have much money to pay her as much as a regular babysitter..." She wiped away the tears that were about to fall on her cheeks. "I don’t know... I don’t want her to go but I also can’t prevent it... She’s not just a babysitter for Daniel but she’s also my best friend..."

"I understand how you feel, honey." Damian kissed Valerie’s forehead. "It’s okay to feel sad right now because parting is indeed sad but we know that every meeting has its parting especially since they were just strangers to us before... They will surely return to their families... Like us who want to be with our family."

"I know," Valerie whispered, trying to stop her tears.

She felt like her happiness diminished now, but she also didn’t want to stop being grateful for her marriage to Damian which finally happened after so long delayed and full of problems.

"When is she leaving?" Damian asked.

"Maybe tonight," Valerie replied, lifting her head from Damian’s shoulder. "Please give her some extra money. I already gave her $200K before. I think you can still give her more because she has helped me a lot..."

"Of course, I’ll give her." Damian immediately took out his phone from his pants pocket.

He asked for Hannah’s bank account number from Valerie, then sent her $800K.

"This is all too little and meaningless compared to her service of taking care of Daniel and always being there for you when I’m not with you," Damian said with a worried look. "But maybe I’ll give her something else next time, we shouldn’t lose contact with her."

"Okay... I’ll meet her now." Valerie quickly got up from the sofa, then walked towards the bedroom door and Hannah was already waiting for her in front of the door.

She hesitated, then noticed a large suitcase behind Hannah, making her think that she was leaving now.

"Are you leaving, even now?" she asked with a melancholic look.

Hannah just nodded.

"Okay..." Valerie swallowed her saliva, trying to remain calm. "You may leave... But don’t you want to say goodbye to Daniel?"

Hannah shook her head. "I’m afraid it will only make me sad."

"Alright..." Valerie hugged Hannah. "This feels very heavy for me... I hope you have a better life after this."

Hannah remained silent with tears in her eyes, her feelings mixed; like wanting to be angry, wanting to curse herself for her stupidity that led her to leave in this situation. When things were getting better.

She wanted to turn back time to never love Samuel or even have sex with him, or take the birth control pills. The feeling made her hold back her emotions because she didn’t want Valerie to know.

Valerie released her hug.

"Have you received the money from Damian?" she asked.

Hannah nodded. "Yes, I’ve received it. It’s a lot... I don’t deserve that much because my decision has disappointed you."

"You deserve it." Valerie smiled reassuringly.

Hannah’s gaze shifted to the open door and Damian looked at her seriously.

’Oh God, I hope he never mentions my relationship with Samuel,’ she thought fearfully.

"So, are you leaving now?" Damian asked after seeing Hannah’s suitcase.

"Yes, Sir." Hannah nodded.

"Alright... Take care and don’t hesitate to contact us. And if you have any problems, don’t hesitate to ask for our help, we’ll do whatever we can to help you," Damian said.

Hannah just nodded and unexpectedly, Damian hugged her for a moment. After that, she immediately took her suitcase and went downstairs.

Valerie couldn’t hold back her sadness so she hugged Damian tightly and leaned her head on his shoulder.

"It’s Okay." Damian stroked Valerie’s hair, and now he started thinking about finding a new babysitter.

A few seconds later, Valerie released her hug and looked at Damian anxiously.

"So now we’ll sleep with Daniel until we find a new caregiver," she said.

Damian nodded and suddenly smiled. "And now it happens... our honeymoon is over... the beautiful moments as newlyweds being carefree are over," he said.

Valerie frowned and slowly smiled as she realized what Damian meant by his words. She pinched his stomach and then hugged his neck, kissing his cheek.

"All that’s on your mind is how many rounds for our night? You really, you rascal!" she said with a chuckle.

"Yes... Of course, I thought of that!"

Valerie chuckled, then grabbed Damian’s manhood through his trousers. "Then we have to be patient until we get a new babysitter!"

Damian chuckled, feeling disappointed but also unable to do anything except find a new caregiver as soon as possible or maybe ask his mother to stay there whenever he wanted to spend the night with Valerie.

...

In a dimly lit prison cell with off-white walls and filled with 5 other prisoners...

Samuel sits brooding over his dismal condition; his hair unkempt, his beard thick, his face gaunt, even wearing a loose-fitting black outfit. Occasionally, he glances at the other inmates enjoying lunch with burgers containing only tomato sauce and a few vegetables, with no delicious drinks except water in bottles.

"Hey, don’t you want to feed the worms in your stomach?" asks another prisoner with a bald head adorned with tattoos of sexy women.

Samuel remains silent with his cold stare.

"You’ll starve!"

"He wants to die. No one cares about him!" another prisoner shouts, then goes back to devouring his burger.

"He’s stupid... He’s on a hunger strike now. He’ll be hungry when only leftovers are left... he’ll eat that disgusting leftover food!" shouts the bald prisoner, quickly grabbing Samuel’s portion of food in front of him.

Samuel just stays quiet, as if not caring that his food is taken. His mind wanders, thinking about Valerie happily with Damian, Clara who received forgiveness from him, and then Hannah who no longer desires him, even though there is always a sense of regret when he remembers how his life was safe and good before.

’It’s all because of Valerie. She’s foolish... she shouldn’t blame me and discard me just like that... How could she easily accept Damian who was so easily tempted by Clara? She’ll only regret it... I swear!... And Damian will regret too for making me lose everything... I won’t let him always win... it’s not fair... Maybe now he’s happy, but one day I won’t let him enjoy his wealth. He won’t even enjoy the beauty of his marriage with Valerie... They will suffer!’

He clenches his fists, his body tense, filled with suppressed anger, leading him into a dreadful vengeance.
