Chapter 87: Jerry urged Clara

"He said his apartment is luxurious, but..."

Clara glanced around the monochrome-themed living room, not many pieces of furniture, and not very spacious. The girl sat on a gray sofa, facing the electric fireplace, looking sexy in shorts and a black tank top, then tying her hair.

"Let’s see what I’ll get here... Should I become a prostitute?"

She grabbed her phone, took a selfie with a sexy pose, then posted it on a dating app. She activated the location so she would get recommendations from male app users who also lived in the city.

Ding ...

The sound of the doorbell diverted her attention. "Who’s coming? I thought I didn’t tell anyone I was here. There shouldn’t be any guests because this apartment has been vacated. Or maybe it’s the apartment staff?"

Curious, Clara immediately got up from the sofa and walked to the front door. She opened it and furrowed her brow when she saw that it was Jerry who had come.

"You... It’s strange that you suddenly came here," she said.

"Why?" Jerry asked.

"No... I just..." Clara shook her head with an awkward look. "I just don’t understand why you came for... I don’t think we have any interests."

"I came to meet Samuel because he hasn’t contacted me in a long time," Jerry said casually, then stepped inside, causing Clara to quickly step back to give him space. "Where is he? Is he at the office?" he asked as he walked towards the living room.

"He’s not here," Clara replied.

Jerry immediately turned to her. "What do you mean he’s not here?"

"Uh... didn’t he tell you that he sold his apartment to me?"

"He sold this apartment to you?" Jerry stared at Clara in astonishment.

Clara nodded nervously.

"He didn’t tell me that at all, but how could you buy this apartment? Where did you get the money?" Jerry inquired, wanting to test Clara’s honesty.

"Uh... I..."

"I know you haven’t had a good job," Jerry didn’t let Clara finish. "Did you buy this apartment with money from a sugar daddy? Or maybe you’re just here temporarily... You don’t want to buy this apartment but Samuel lent it to you?" He interrogated with an intimidating gaze.

"Jerry..." Clara turned her face away, trying to move away, but Jerry immediately grabbed her hand, making her turn to face him. "Ah, Jerry, let go of me!" she struggled, feeling pain in her wrist.

"I won’t let you go until you’re honest!" Jerry hissed.

"What do I have to be honest about? You’re weird!"

"Do you want to know?" Jerry immediately pushed Clara and released his grip, then took an envelope from the pocket of his black jacket. He threw the envelope at Clara’s face. "Explain this!"

Clara fell silent in shock, then saw the envelope lying on the floor.

"Take it!" Jerry commanded.

She immediately picked it up and opened it, revealing photos of her with Damian.

"I don’t know what you mean by doing this to Damian... Why did you trap him, and then hand over those photos to Valerie... Did you do this because you don’t want her back with Damian? What is your real purpose? Just jealousy or because you want Damian? But why did you run away here, even in Samuel’s apartment?" Jerry wondered impatiently. "Or did he ask you because he doesn’t like seeing Valerie getting close to Damian? Or..." He circled Clara with his sharp gaze.

Clara trembled, unable to respond to Jerry’s every question.

"Or perhaps Samuel also instructed you to seduce Damian after the bachelor party?" Jerry asked again, glaring at Clara with irritation. "He arranged it all, then pretended to help Valerie leave Damian?"

"Jerry..." Clara shook her head and looked at Jerry anxiously. "I... I don’t know about that... I mean, that night I was very drunk and accidentally did it with Damian, besides, he didn’t refuse."

"Lies!" Jerry exclaimed with widened eyes.

"I’m telling the truth!" Clara moved away from Jerry. "I didn’t think Valerie would find out and leave... It had nothing to do with Samuel!"

Jerry fell silent, staring at Clara with anger, quickly taking out a blank check from his jacket pocket, as well as a black pen.

"How much money did you get from Samuel to ruin Valerie and Damian’s relationship?" he asked, handing over the check and pen to Clara. "You have to admit before I find out myself and find evidence of your collusion..."

Clara fell silent, looking afraid.

"You know who I am, you know how capable I am of investigating problems, crimes," Jerry said again. He slowly walked around Clara. "If I find out your collusion and can prove it to Damian, I’m sure he will be very angry and punish you with defamation or entrapment... Whatever it is, he will try to punish you because what you did has separated him from Valerie, even without a chance to see Valerie during her pregnancy, when Daniel was born... He can’t repeat that even though it’s a very precious moment for a man."

Clara pondered, and bowed her head, as if in dilemma.

"But if you confess now, you’ll get money and maybe he won’t imprison you... You’ll be free," Jerry said again, patting Clara’s hand with the check. "Tell the truth," he continued calmly, trying to restrain his emotions.

"I didn’t collude with Samuel at all," Clara replied, pushing Jerry’s hand away from her. "I wasn’t paid either... I came here because I needed a place to live... And what I did to Damian that night was because I was angry with him... I didn’t like seeing him back with Valerie after we were both ruined by the scandal after that bachelor party," she lied.

Jerry fell silent, observing Clara who seemed so bewildered, unwilling to confess, making him frustrated and wanting to punch her foolish face.

"Go away..." Clara walked towards the bedroom.

Jerry immediately followed her, blocking her at the bedroom door.

"You can’t fool me!" Jerry exclaimed.

"What?" Clara looked at Jerry with frustration. "I’m not fooling you... I’ve already told the truth... I didn’t..."

"But I don’t believe you!"

"How, what should I do to make you believe?"

"Whatever you say, whatever you do will never make me believe you because I’m sure you’ve been working with Samuel for a long time. You wouldn’t deliberately mess yourself up just to fool around with Damian... You must have done it because you got paid... You wouldn’t leave Carson City and your family just to sleep with Damian that night! You must have considered the risks and got paid to be able to go far away to live in a distant place without a job... You wouldn’t have the courage to do all that if there wasn’t someone supporting or instructing you!" Jerry explained with his sharp gaze, clenching his jaw and quickly ambushing Clara’s cheeks then pushing her against the wall.

"Jerry!" Clara was scared.

"Tell the truth!" Jerry exclaimed angrily. "What’s so hard about being honest? You can’t trust Samuel anymore... Damian is much stronger than him! He can bring him down and no one can help you, even he can retaliate against you so cruelly without you can avoid!"
