Reverse Transmigration: From F-rank to SSS-rank-Chapter 5: F*cked up hero complex
Chapter 5
As soon as Dante attempted to pierce the weapons into my skin, they froze just an inch from my face. Not because Dante has decided to stop, because a voice cut the silence clean in half.
"Enough."
Every head snapped toward the stairs. The students who had their phones up quickly lowered them knowing they could end up in trouble for whatever was going on at the moment.
My jaw clenched when I saw who it was.
Veyra.
Damn it why did it have to be her. She was the number one supporter of Dante in this academy, seems like my plan wouldn’t work out this time.
She stood at the top like some executioner, her cold eyes scanning the mess I’d just caused. Yeah I knew I was gonna get in big trouble for this, but honestly, I didn’t care. They deserved it for daring to lay a finger on me.
Finally after several seconds, her gaze found me.
"Lucian." She spoke my name like it left a stain on her tongue. Of course it did, I’d touched her precious golden boy. And why wouldn’t she protect him? His family probably lined her pockets with enough cash to make her allergic to common sense. Her voice cut down again. "Do you have any idea what you’ve done?"
I kept my mouth shut, waiting for her to spell it out. I was really curious to see how well she could turn this around.
"You attacked six students. You left them bleeding on the floor. And now you’ve provoked Dante into breaking academy law. Do you want to be expelled?"
Ohh that was smooth.
The laugh ripped out of me before I could stop it. The kind that made a few kids in the crowd shuffle back, suddenly unsure if I was dangerous or just insane.
"You’re serious? He’s the one using magic—"
"Enough."
Honestly I would have talked more just to watch her make a fool of herself, but right now I didn’t have the interest for that. And I’d only be attracting more punishment which she’ll most definitely give if I piss her off, and I didn’t want that.
Dante lowered his hand, calm as if none of this was his fault. The knife and pen dropped to the floor with a hollow clatter. He didn’t even glance at me. Just slipped into that practiced role of a perfect student which he always put up in presence of the management.
"Lucian started it," he said smoothly, voice steady, eyes wide with fake innocence. "I only stepped in before he hurt anyone else."
My nails cut into my palms. The urge to grab that pen and drive it through his skull burned so hot I could taste it. I really loved crushing the ego of bastards like him, but that would have to wait.
Veyra turned to me with a cold frown. "You’re coming with me."
The crowd erupted, whispers, laughter, phones lifted again to catch every second of my downfall. To them, it was entertainment. A live show.
To me, it was just another reminder.
This academy wasn’t just built on strength or fairness. It was built on bloodlines, reputations, and the bullshit politics that kept people like Dante untouchable.
And that fucked up system, I was going to change it.
Veyra didn’t wait to see if I’d follow. She just turned and started down the hall like she knew I’d trail after her no matter what. But just as I took the first step to follow her, someone called out from the crowd of students who sat on the bleachers.
They had their hands raised, and slowly...a girl I couldn’t recognize from lucian’s memory stood up.
"Miss Veyra, I have a recording of all that happened. Those students attacked Lucian first, and on the order of Dante."
Veyra froze. She didn’t even turn all the way, she just angled her head enough to pin the girl with that frigid stare of hers. The kind that usually made people shrink back into their seats and pray they’d never spoken.
This girl didn’t. She held her ground, chin high. She seemed both afraid and resolved. Why would she take such risk, with Veyra here, no evidence would get to the management, she should know that, why would she take such foolish risk to get on the bad side of Dante. Damn fucked up hero complex. Her remaining days at the academy would end up a living hell after today.
Dante’s expression darkened as he turned to look at the loud mouth who clearly didn’t care for her life. His brows twitched, an angry grin curling on his lips. I could see he was barely holding himself back from crushing that poor girl’s skull to bits.
Veyra’s lips pressed into a thin line. "Hand me the device."
The girl hesitated, like she knew exactly what she’d just signed up for. Yeah idiot, you shouldn’t have butted in.
"Now," Veyra’s voice cut again, sharp as glass.
The girl’s fingers twitched around the phone. For a second, I thought she might refuse, but well, she didn’t. She stepped forward, arm shaking as she placed the phone into Veyra’s hand.
Of course. That evidence was gone for good. Not like I expected any result from it.
Veyra slid the phone into her cloak without even looking at it, like it was already erased from existence. Then her eyes snapped back to me, colder than before. "Move."
I sighed, sliding my hands into my pocket as I trailed behind her, the whispers of the students echoing behind me.
"Did you all see how single handedly fought those guys?"
"I never knew he was that good in combat."
"If he was, then why’d he let people bully him all this while, I’m sure he just learnt a trick or two and got lucky today."
"Yeah I mean, he’s the weakest awakener so far, I don’t even know how he managed to make it here."
I could hear them all clearly, a smile played on my lips as I picked up the pace after hearing all I needed to. Seems like I succeeded in leaving an impression like I wanted.
