Rise Of The Infinite Sovereign-Chapter 395: Meeting Nascents
Chapter 395: Meeting Nascents
Without warning, Ezra set off his own energy in counter, bringing out his silver aura for special effects.
Seeing this, the black dragons scorned.
’What’s he trying to do...
His thoughts could only be cut off as the pressure descended upon him.
"What is this?!...Ack!"
The black dragon grimaced. His words cut off because had to actively concentrate in order to withstand the pressure.
With a glance to the side, he sees the rest in the same position, struggling to withstand the pressure.
A premonition started to set into his heart at such a scene.
’This guy...is fourth rank?’
As the black dragons struggled to resist, Ezra’s voice rang out like thunder.
"I said. There was nothing much to see!"
As his voice boomed, the pressure magnified.
With the fact that Ezra was a Transcendent, the black dragon had skimmed through his report, only noting his name and cultivation rank
Nothing else was really important since after all, all other clans had to bow their heads when coming here, so there was no reason to be afraid of anyone.
Of course, even then they wouldn’t dare act unruly to a Nascent but they bully other Transcendents as much as they wanted and no one would interfere as long as there was no physical action.
So they did. Every year they made sure to stamp their superiority into the hearts of those from lesser clans.
Transcendents from lesser clans had also wised up. After their first year, they came in groups, thus holding their stand against any intimidation.
Seeing Ezra appear by himself, they had felt joyous of finding another newcomer to have fun with.
Yet, this fellow was overwhelming them all by himself.
Without noticing, most of the black dragons have started sweating, this too in less than thirty seconds.
’This bastard’
The leader grit his teeth, his pride was brutally wounded. He couldn’t believe that he would ever be in such a position.
So, he squeezed his muscles once again and sought to break free of the crushing pressure.
"Ugh!"
Alas, his soaring spirit could not help him defy reality.
His body only felt heavier as the seconds passed by.
All the while, he made sure to keep eye contact with Ezra, staring at him with a ferocious gaze, but Ezra stared back with a smile on his face, letting out a slight chuckle at the display.
When a minute passed, Ezra aura seized as he sensed a powerful presence arriving in the vicinity and turned his face in the direction of its origin.
Holding his gaze, a voice was soon heard.
"It seems I’ve been spotted"
It seemed as though a shroud had lifted, revealing a young looking fellow with black hair, pale skin and red eyes, garbed in white robes.
’A vampire’ Ezra deciphered. Narrowing his eyes as he prepared to activate on himself in case of any fishy play.
Unlike those struggling under his pressure, this fellow...was a Nascent!
It seemed he was pretty popular because the guards started calling his name upon sight of him.
"Sir Avaken!"
"Sir Avaken"
"Sir Avaken"
Despite their shouts, Ezra remained composed, making a slight bow, Ezra addressed the vampire. "I didn’t expect to see a prestigious Nascent as such a place. To what do I owe such an honour?"
Avaken bursts into laughter, meeting Ezra’s gaze. "It seems not only are you powerful" looking at the guards before turning back to him. "But also eloquent"
"I’m greatly honoured by such flattery"
"Stop it" Avaken waved his hand. Pointing to the guards as he said, "Now, I believe you’ve punished them enough, no?"
To this, Ezra replies in confusion. "Punish them? We’re just comparing abilities as a learning experience"
He then looked at the guards with an innocent face, "Or do you all feel that I am punishing you?"
As a matter of their pride, they would never admit to such a statement, because it would be the same as acknowledging Ezra’s superiority, and as proud dragons, they’d rather suffer than do that.
So the head of the guards answered in stammers.
"No" he looks at Avaken. "We-We, are simp-ply, com-paring abilities’’
’Tch’ Avaken clicked his tongue in displeasure. ’That useless pride of theirs’
It was as clear as day that they were suffering.
With the guards about to collapse and his first plan failed, Avaken had to think of another plan.
It would be too embarrassing if they collapsed from exhaustion and that would be a problem for everyone else, but these dragons couldn’t even think that far because of their damn pride!
’How frustrating’
His frustrations aside, the biggest surprise was feeling exactly just how much pressure Ezra was exuding.
’It’s enough to match that of a rank six and he’s only rank four? It seemed another monster had arrived’ he speculated.
Unable to act with force, Avaken took another approach.
"But, Mr. Silver Star, I assume you’ve delayed here far too long. Why don’t you let me escort you to your lodgings?"
Seeing through his intentions, Ezra stopped exuding pressure and ceased his aura.
"It would be a delight"
There was no reason to refuse the invitation and risk angering a Nascent.
Avaken was pleased. ’He has a good head on his shoulders’
Other cultivators were usually very forceful with things, but this fellow seemed to use forcefulness and ease when the situation required it.
The guards free from their ordeal held their knees to avoid falling, gasping heavily.
Only the leader adamantly remained standing, staring at Ezra as Avaken led him away.
He made sure to not show any weakness to Ezra.
Once Ezra and Avaken got outside his range of vision, he started breathing heavily to ease the stress on his body.
On the other hand, Avaken walked at a leisurely pace and Ezra simply matched him.
Having passed the entrance, the walk down a long road leading straight to where multiple high rise buildings cascaded.
Though, looking harder, Ezra could stop any sign of human activity within them
Looking around, Ezra wondered why couldn’t just fly to the destination.
Walking along the bridge, Avaken spoke.
"Flying is banned within this area. If that’s what you’re wondering"
At that, Ezra flinched. "You can read minds?"
"No" Avaken shook his head. "It’s just that most people ask that when passing through here"
"Oh" Ezra nodded.
Reaching the end of the road, Ezra realized why he felt the buildings fell off.
They were incomplete, with no wall in front of him, but unlike what one would think, Ezra confirmed that the buildings were built that way specifically.
They weren’t built for occupation in the first place.
Instead, they acted as starting points for a bridge that stretched farther than Ezra could see, held up high in the air.
He couldn’t see it while approaching because the building was built beyond it, blocking it from sight.
"This is the skyline. A bridge connected to most sections of Centra"
Ezra nodded passively. He was impressed, but refused to let it show.
"Impressive" he simply commented.
"Indeed" Avaken replied, walking along the stairs of the incomplete building, reaching the part where the bridge tracks began.
The building was of eight floors, the start of the bridge was connected to the seventh floor.
There, Ezra found that the bridge was lined with a railing.
At the start of the track was a vehicle painted in deep red with seats for four, it looked like the combination of a car and a small truck.
The insides looked sophisticated, fitted with clean blue seats with gears set at once side.
Getting in, Avaken starts the vehicle with expert proficiency, and in ten seconds, they set off, with the vehicle shooting blue flames out of the two rockets attached to its side.
Riding straight across the sky of Centra, it made perfect sense why it was named Skyline.
With long sight, Ezra could see the landscape below. At his level, the speed of the vehicle was nothing much, but rather, just right.
"What a wonderful view" Ezra remarked.
All in all, it was still a fun experience.
As they passed by, Ezra caught the presence of multiple Nascents, raising his guard a notch higher.
A wrong move here could really be the end of him.
By the time they reached the end of the trail they were following, the bridge bent straight towards the ground, and such a slope steeply increased the momentum of the vehicle.
Both men were unperturbed, simply enjoying the rush of air that hit them at such a speed.
Avaken was looking around, not touching anything.
Ezra saw this, but chose to keep his silence and see where things were going.
The crash of the car wouldn’t hurt him either way, so it was not really his concern.
As they descended up to a point, a part of the car let out a green light.
Immediately, the car began to slow down, and by the time they reached the end of the bridge, there was barely any friction.
They alighted the vehicle, at a similar incomplete high rise building, but unlike the first one which was painted yellow, this one was painted blue.
Walking down, Ezra is led to a proper high rise building, very extensive with six floors highlighted by a large number of windows.
But something else had Ezra perplexed.
So he asks. "Where are we?"
Turning to him, Avaken returns with a smile. "This is the residence for sect Elders. Is there a problem?"
"None" Ezra replied, arranging his thoughts.
’So, that’s why I feel the presence of Nascents inside’ he realized.
On the other hand, Avaken had a thin smile on his face.
He’d been there from the start of Ezra’s confrontation with the guards, but had taken his time to look over his file, unlike some idiot, and was thus surprised that a Transcendent was an Elder.
Known as pillars of a clan, Transcendence was a rank regarded as the starting line of power amongst higher beings, while Nascence was determined as the first stage where one acquires true power.
Therefore, making a Transcendent an Elder was going against common sense.
Not to mention, while Avaken loathed the guards, he held pride in the black dragon bloodline.
Seeing Ezra look down on it like such offended him, and in this way, Avaken intended to get his revenge.
Beyond all this was the fact that he also held the position of an Elder in the Black Dragon clan.
To see a Transcendent holding the same title even if it was a lesser clan...was that not demeaning?
If Ezra decided to back away from the challenge and stay in the residence meant for Transcendents, then he would have him made a laughing stock by the other Transcendents there.
If he stayed here, he was bound to be pressured by the Nascents.
No matter where he went, he was bound to be troubled, so Avaken was glad.
’You will learn that holding a position without the appropriate strength brings nothing but trouble’
Ezra was having thoughts of his own.
’Hmm, it makes sense that clansmen and Elders are treated differently. But, shouldn’t I have received information about this beforehand?’
His thoughts were disrupted by the sound of the door opening as Avaken led him inside.
Entering, the presence of three Nascents within flared. A voice sounding out soon after.
"A Transcendent? Is this a joke?" a feminine voice resounded.
"I don’t do jokes. He is an Elder of the Red dragon clan and will be residing here will you all"
"What?!" Another voice flared, this one guttural and hoarse. Followed by the sound of a door being flung open.
The fellow jumped straight from a higher floor, landing right between Avaken and Ezra, putting his visage on full display.
Towering to almost two meters in height, only his lower body was covered in gleaming metal armour.
Well-built muscles highlighted his green skin, while the fellow had tusks at the side of his mouth, and red paint across his face.
If one had to imagine what a warmonger would look like, it would probably be something like this.
Surprisingly, even with such a size, the floor did not crack.
Having read through encyclopedias, Ezra recognized his race instantly.
Orc.
A race that thrived in battle, born with a craving for a battle, all variants with this bloodline are known for becoming frenzied after a losing of blood, which then increases their powers, though the effects differ to each branch of the race.
The ability was thus named, Berserk.
Staring at Ezra, the Orc releases a fume from his nose.
In response, Ezra gets into a battle stance of his own, taking out two gleaming daggers from his space ring.
The daggers are capable of hurting a nascent.
Avaken’s eyes gleamed.
You see, Ezra had long expected this scenario, though not in this way.
So, he had Sidal source a weapon of Nascent rank, and after spending all his money, he was able to procure the two daggers in his arms.
If not for the monthly investments from the council, he would be dead broke.
Though, with the Top-tier astral elixir the council received, the investment didn’t feel like much anymore.
As Ezra got into stance, he spoke.
"Your muscles look well balanced. What kind of training did you do?"
All of a sudden, the atmosphere froze. Confusing Ezra.
’Did I say something wrong?’ he wondered.
"You" the orc let out in a low deep tone. "What did you just say?"
"What kind of training did you do?"
"No, before that"
"Your muscle looks well balanced"
"Hoo" the Orc let off a sigh, getting into a normal posture, he folds his hands.
"You" he points at Ezra. "Have good eyes!" he declares.
Right away, the Orc strikes a pose, stretching out his arms to showcase his muscles even more.
"What do you think?" he says, in a tone completely opposite of his previous dark tone.
The change was so jarring Ezra was dumbstruck, looking to see Avaken face palming.
"Ah..."
"You’re speechless. In awe!" the orc proclaims. Striking another pose in that instant.
He could almost feel himself shining! Letting off golden rays of light!
"Behold my exemplary physique!" he says, turning to showcase his muscular back.
Rather the posing Orc, Ezra’s attention was on the other two Nascents who decided to join in.
Both were women.
One had green scales all over body and yellow snake-like eyes. Ezra concluded she was a green dragon in polymorph form.
The other was green wood and vines strapped together with her head hosting a short small branch that stretched upwards holding on it a single leaf. An Ent.
The Ent went to the orc. "Hey, muscle freak. You’re supposed to be fighting him, not posing for him!"
Without even sparing her a glance, he replies.
"You guys should handle it. My muscles look too beautiful right now"
"Ugh..." Expressing her disgust, she leaves him be and confronts Ezra with the other dragon in tow.
Staring him down, the Ent makes her stance known.
"I don’t care about that muscle freak, but I will allow a Transcendent to stay in the same space as me"
"It was never your place to decide" Ezra replies calmly.
"You! ...fine"
Fully enraged, the Ent saves her words and gets into a battle stance.
"You don’t belong here"
The green dragon keeps her words short and gets into a battle stance as well.
Clearing his throat, Avaken echoes his voice.
"Whoever instigates a fight will pay for any damages to the building. I hope I’m making myself clear"
"Whatever" the Ent replies.
"Crystal" the green dragon replies.
Without another word, they attack Ezra.
*Boom!*
