Rise Of The Infinite Sovereign-Chapter 396: Shock!
Chapter 396: Shock!
*Boom!*
A large hole appeared in the previously intact building, with debris flying all over the place
Ezra who had been blown away alongside it, was flabbergasted.
Tanking their initial attacks, his arms had become numb, one sported a large hole, while the other had its flesh ripped from, looking very unsightly.
His blood soon painted the floor black.
Beyond that, the attack also hurt his insides.
’I barely saw what hit me’
They closed in on him together, with the Ent piercing with a wooden spike while the green dragon shredded his arm with her claws.
The impact of that combined attack had blown him away.
Right then, the two female Nascents exited the damaged building and arrived a distance from him.
Still coughing up blood, Ezra steadies his breath and smirks.
"Two Nascents against one Transcendent? Isn’t this too much?"
"It matters not" the green dragon replied, but was interrupted by the Ent.
"Wait, Caverra. I’ll finish him off"
Staying silent, the dragon nods, stepping back.
"Why don’t you just surrender? It should be clear that you can’t beat me"
Exerting effort to stand straight, Ezra speaks.
"So why don’t we play a game instead?"
"You want to play a game with me in that state?"
"Give me a minute" Ezra grunted, coughing out blood once again.
’What is he planning?’ the Ent thought.
While neither she nor Caverra had struck to kill, he looked to be on the verge of death, yet he still refused to surrender?
’Must be one of those hot-headed types’ she concluded, shaking her head in dismay.
But her smile soon froze as the seconds passed.
’Oh?’
Ezra was healing at tremendous speed!
’That’s not normal’ she thought.
Ezra was having similar thoughts.
’If I hadn’t taken that elixir back then. I’d definitely be dead now’
----------
During his past two months, there was a day he visited Lordim to restock on astral elixirs.
Making small talk with him, Ezra finds that Lordim had finally completed the regeneration potion he needed the astral beast’s heart for and finally broken through to a higher level in alchemy.
The only thing left was to test the elixir’s effects.
But he had only succeeded in making five regeneration elixirs, so choosing how to test it was another problem.
But he couldn’t present it to the outside world without testing it, because if it so happened that the astral properties weren’t completely refined and someone’s cultivation regressed as a result, his reputation would take a massive blow and in the wrist case, his career could end then and there.
To this, Ezra volunteered himself.
He already had poisonous blood, so his poison resistance was considerable, astral energy also didn’t affect him and had a basic healing ability so whatever was wrong with it wouldn’t have much effect on him.
In the aspect where the elixir functioned as described, his healing abilities could potentially evolve to greater heights.
The potential gain was higher than the potential loss, so Ezra had no qualms.
Although one could wonder why Lordim didn’t use the elixir on himself, Ezra didn’t bother.
Lordim who thought he was helping out from the greatness of his heart almost shed tears of gratitude.
But only after confirming that Ezra wouldn’t hold him for any recurring problems did Lordim hand the elixir to him.
Taking a lotus position, he drinks it in one gulp, and then concentrates on the changes in his body.
’It doesn’t have much taste’ Ezra noted.
The process began with his blood simmering as though excited, followed by an itch coming over his entire body in the form of a rash, which then subsequently heated up.
All the while, Ezra felt an unfamiliar sensation as a foreign substance spread over all his organs.
Rising from his stomach, it spread to the intestines, lungs, and kidney at the side before heading down his blood stream into his legs and then rising, reaching his heart, stretching into his arms before extending into his head.
Coursing around the skull, it did not extend into the brain and linked back with the rest of the body, forming what looked a closed circuit.
As the energy settled, Ezra felt the remnants of demon blood spike into a frenzy, colliding with the elixir’s energy.
Upon contact, his body heated up even more but the rashes disappeared rapidly.
To Ezra, it felt as though two colonies of ants were fighting in his bloodstream.
Very unpleasant.
Peaking after one minute, it began to die down, with the elixir’s substance having absorbed the demon blood remnants.
His body cooled down as well.
Without testing it out, his intuition told him.
The elixir worked as, no, even better than described!
With quick thinking, Ezra keeps his face still before making a serious expression as though contemplating.
"What is it?" Lordim asked.
"I seemed to have sensed a problem but I wasn’t able to pinpoint exactly what it was...do you mind giving me another?" Ezra replied.
"That..." Lordim blinks, before then nodding. "Okay"
Handing over a second elixir, Ezra downs it in one gulp as well, and observes the changes more keenly.
Unlike before, there was no large reaction, the elixir took root in his stomach and was subsequently absorbed into that which was already inside his body.
But this time, it dug deeper into his blood, infecting every cell like a virus, but they were unaffected, moving as they were designed to.
Feeling the changes in his body, Ezra determined two things.
His regenerative abilities had gone up at least a level, and that the elixir couldn’t continuously strengthen regenerative ability.
The first time had the best effect, the second one made sure it was active in every part of his body.
As such, Ezra hypothesized that drinking a third elixir would have little effect and any other taken afterwards wouldn’t have any effect.
Also, while ninety nine percent of the astral energy had been refined, the remaining one percent could unnerve a few, so it was best to sell this batch of the elixirs only to rank five and six Transcendents, and to refine the astral energy extensively going forward.
He reported his analysis to Lordim, who was filled with gratitude not knowing that he had been scammed.
As a last request, Lordim nervously asks if he could take a recording of Ezra testing its effects as evidence as a favour.
Ezra uses that favour to replenish the number of times Lordim had to offer free service to Ezra back to twenty times instead of nineteen.
This was no issue for Ezra since he also wanted to test it out, and the video would only cover a part of his body, so there was no fear about someone unearthing his identity.
The results were shocking to say the least.
Shallow cuts healed almost instantaneously. Deep cuts healed in twenty seconds or less!
With such shocking results, Ezra was forced to inform Lordim of the remnant demon blood within him beforehand to maintain the integrity of the research.
Broken bones healed between two minutes to an hour depending on the density.
Yes, Ezra broke the tip of his pinky finger and his femur to test this out...a very regretful decision.
As for larger wounds and whether bones could regrow, Lordim would have to find someone else, he wasn’t testing that out.
The next test Ezra looked forward to confirming is whether the ability would become more or less effective after he attained Nascence.
But the results were clear, except for mind attacks, other Transcendents would be hard pressed to kill him.
The only problem would be that regeneration ate through his energy reserves like a beast.
-------------
Thinking back to it, Ezra let out a breath.
Boosting the healing process with energy, the hole in his right arm had completely healed while his left arm was almost done regenerating ripped flesh by the time a minute elapsed.
Shocking all the Nascents!
The ability to perversely regenerate wasn’t really surprising, a few races were known for such characteristics.
It was the fact that a human Transcendent was the entity showcasing such ability that shocked them.
"Time’s up" the Ent proclaimed.
On cue, a sharp vine shot out of the floor like a row of javelins poking out of the ground, covering the large area in front of her.
She didn’t want to give any hope of counterattacking.
Ezra activates <universal concealment> in response, vanishing.
"You think you can hide?!" the Ent exclaimed, scanning the surroundings, only to come up with...nothing!
’Where is he?’ she thought, looking around when a voice rang out.
"I think I can"
’Behind me!’
Vines shot up behind her a moment later, smashing into the elder residence.
If before she was carefree, this got her alert.
It was dawning on her that her opponent was no ordinary Transcendent.
Her attack just now hadn’t touched anything.
’Can he also ignore physical attacks?’
While very rare, recipients of the ability did exist, so the Ent was forced to wonder whether he had an ability to phase through physical objects or something else.
Ezra on the other hand, was back in his universe.
After activating <universal concealment> he moved out of the range of the vine attack completely and then went to stand behind her before muttering ’I think I can’ into her ear.
Anticipating an attack, he activates <Gatekeeper> right after, entering his universe right in the nick of time and deactivates <universal concealment>
’Now let’s...hmm?’
He paused his actions as he noticed a difference in the speed of his energy recovery.
"So there was also this function" Ezra says, activating <universal concealment> once again before exiting the universe.
Minutes prior, right when the Orc made his jump, Ezra placed a <Gatemark> in the residence, so that was where he appeared.
Appearing to see the Nascents looking all over the place for him, he sits on the part of the building that had been blown away before deactivating <universal concealment>
Instantly, the Nascents latched onto him with their eyes, their heads snapping in his direction like predators.
But none of them spoke.
"Why don’t we stop here?" Ezra spoke. "I don’t have an attack strong enough to hurt you, but if I decide to hide, you’ll never be able to-
His words were cut short with a shout.
"Shut up and fight!"
A vine shot out of the ground towards Ezra, faster than all the other attacks until now.
Thoroughly enraged, the Ent had struck with the intent to kill.
Ezra bops off his seat to avoid the vine, falling outside it and activates <universal concealment> in the same motion.
"Tch" he clicks his tongue in displeasure.
’Guess I’ll have to show something more’
Landing on the ground, Ezra takes flight, flying higher than the elders building.
The ground he landed on two seconds ago was now ravaged with sharp vines.
Before he could even think of his attack, the vines shot out a hail of spikes in every direction, reaching the Nascents at the side who destroyed the spikes with ease.
"Damnit!" the Ent audibly cursed.
Ezra felt lucky at this moment. Had he stayed on the ground, he would have been skewed!
Moving on, Ezra gathers energy into his palm and makes a small ball of fire.
’It’s concealed!’ Ezra rejoiced.
Having never thought to fight while concealed, he hadn’t tested such an application out before.
With his elemental manifestations also concealed, Ezra gained confidence to attack.
He made a spear of fire, inputting three quarters of his remaining energy to condense it as much as possible.
As he did, the spear gained tangible weight.
Taking a deep breath, Ezra got into a throwing stance.
’If even this doesn’t work, I’ll give up’
*Voom!*
Setting it off, the spear tore through the air.
Astonishingly, the concealment only started wearing off two seconds after!
Making so that in the eyes of the Nascents, it looked like a large bullet of fire had suddenly appeared in the air.
’Oh?’ Ezra was surprised. He could think of multiple ways he could utilize such an effect.
As with sharp eyes, the Nascents instantly pinpoint the likely origin from its arrival.
’In the sky?’ the Ent questioined, turning her gaze back to the fire spear approaching her.
’But what is that?’
Though it looked like a pathetic attack, she puts up a large wall of vines in front of her as a shield, refusing to let Ezra get a single hit on her out of carelessness as she watches out for additional attacks.
Even though she had exerted more effort into the fight than she intended, it was nothing too abnormal.
But because of the wall of vines shielding her, her sight was blocked and she couldn’t see the rest of the fire spear unravel.
Half a second away from collision, the effects of <universal concealment> faded away completely and the fire spear was revealed in its entirety.
Her senses rang out in warning just as the collision occurred.
...?!
*Boom!*
Smashing into vines strengthened with energy, the fire spear unravelled violently like a bomb!
The force from the collision had the condensed energy rapidly expand.
Engulfing the vines, the force of the collision uprooted it and the ground below, blowing it away while it still burned.
Naturally, the Ent was caught in an explosion and blown back as well.
At this, the Nascents could only stare in astonishment.
They hoped to see something interesting.
But...
This was too shocking!
