School Hunk or Childhood Sweetheart?-Chapter 399 - 400: Gossip is Everywhere
The branch office was nearly a two-hour drive from C City.
Xiao Yao drove the car, Chen Rong sat in the passenger seat, occasionally turning her head to look at Shen Weiyi in the back seat.
She had never expected that Shen Weiyi would go to the branch office with her.
And she had brought Secretary Yao along.
Everyone knew that Secretary Yao was personally trained by Secretary Jiang, and it was only a matter of time before she would take over Secretary Jiang’s position and be promoted to Head Secretary.
Staying at the headquarters surely had better prospects.
As for herself, she had chosen to go to the branch office because she had no other option.
She had thought that after offending Shen Weiyi, any chance of promotion was out of the question, and she might even be kicked out of the company someday. Rather than waiting to be fired, it was better to spend two years at the branch office.
But to her surprise, the Princess herself was actually going to the branch office with her.
Chen Rong’s heart was filled with extreme anxiety; she wouldn’t really be out of a job now, would she?
Nowadays, it was hard to find work, especially in a large company like Shen Technology.
She too had only managed to enter after great difficulty, but there were too many capable people inside; she had worked there for three years and had only been promoted from a minor secretarial assistant to her current position as a public relations secretary.
A public relations secretary, as the name suggests, was involved in public relations work. It often entailed traveling and entertaining clients. She was twenty-eight this year and nearing thirty, which meant she had to start considering marriage and having children.
That’s why she wanted to switch to an administrative secretary, a position where she’d only need to work in the office. However, each position at Shen Technology was fixed, and she couldn’t transfer just because she wanted to. That’s why she had tried to ingratiate herself with Meng Qiao when she heard she was the president’s daughter, to prepare for a future job transfer.
But she had never imagined that her attempt to suck up would misfire so badly. Not only did she fail to win over the false princess, but she also offended the true heiress.
Now, she was gloomily shifting positions along with her.
It seemed she might be heading home to get married and have children before long.
Chen Rong’s full spectrum of regret, frustration, and anxiety was incomprehensible to others, and naturally, Shen Weiyi couldn’t care less.
She wouldn’t use her status to oppress others but was not saintly enough to care about someone who had wronged her.
The branch office had been established for two years, primarily focusing on the research and development of new technologies and providing technology-related services.
This time around, Shen Weiyi wouldn’t need to start from the bottom; the headquarters had directly arranged a vice president title for her.
Suddenly having a new leader parachuted in, the branch office had buzzed with the news early on.
"I heard they’ve dropped in a new VP from the company, Mr. Shen’s daughter..."
"Isn’t that the future boss then?"
"Why isn’t Mr. Shen’s daughter staying at the main office? What’s she coming to our branch for?"
"Isn’t it obvious? The young miss will eventually take over the company. This is just her getting some early practice using our branch."
"It must be nice to be rich, claiming a multimillion-dollar company as practice ground just like that."
"What’s so surprising about that? Mr. Shen only has this one daughter; the family fortune of several billion is all hers alone."
"So whoever marries her hits the jackpot, right?"
"Forget about it, you guys. I heard she’s already engaged, and her fiancé is the young master of Shengshi Group. His family’s wealth is even greater than that of our young miss."
"Talk about a marriage of wealthy families!"
"Alright, get back to work. Be careful that the young miss doesn’t catch you slacking off on her first day." Someone shouted.
The crowd then dispersed.
Shen Weiyi had just come out of the elevator, with Xiao Yao standing by her side, along with some leaders of the branch office.
They had overheard all the conversations inside.
Indeed, there was no escaping gossip no matter where you went.
