Seed of Titan-Chapter 108: A Clash at Zar’s Mansion
A few minutes later, Drai and Ravi were almost halfway to Zar’s residence, which was quite a distance away from the residential complex that the two had departed from. Their pace wasn’t too fast due to Ravi’s lack of stamina. If Drai wasn’t worried that he would disrespect and perhaps anger Ravi, he would have carried the professor like a princess to save time.
Just when Zar’s residence was in sight, Drai suddenly pointed ahead and exclaimed, "Professor! Look!"
"Boy, I think we’re a bit too late," Ravi replied with a grim look upon seeing the partially destroyed mansion in front of them.
"I’ll go ahead first!" Drai shouted as he sprinted forward, leaving Ravi behind.
Running at full speed, Drai arrived at the outer walls a few seconds later and immediately jumped over it, landing in the mansion’s courtyard. He surveyed his surroundings and spotted traces of fighting all over the place. Not only did the walls get destroyed, the courtyard was also in shambles as huge patches of grass and dirt had been messily dug up.
All of a sudden, Drai’s ears perked up.
"Someone’s shouting..." he mumbled. Drai then looked around once more before sprinting along the wall, circling the building.
Shortly after, he arrived at the mansion’s backyard. What greeted him was the sight of his rector, two of his deans, and a woman in robes. All of them were currently looking at the newcomer who just arrived.
"You?!" the Dean of the Nature Faculty, Lua Utulu, exclaimed upon seeing Drai. She was clearly injured, with blood dripping from her head, right arm, and stomach. Lua was currently standing guard in front of Zar, who looked a bit weary but unharmed.
"Well, look who it is... If it isn’t the infamous Drai Varz himself. What brings you here, young man?" the old man with gray hair in a maroon suit remarked with a soothing voice. Drai recognized him as Wilfred Arden, Dean of the Generality Faculty. But to Drai’s dismay, the aging gentleman was standing beside the robed woman.
"That’s one of our targets, the Anomaly," the woman said, staring at Drai with a sharp gaze.
"Interesting... I didn’t expect this ’Anomaly’ to be our most prominent first-year. Does that mean the ’Manic Friend’ you mentioned is Ravismus Ondor?" Wilfred asked the woman.
"...Yes," she curtly replied.
"Hmm... It all makes sense now why the Order aims to capture these two," Wilfred remarked, rubbing his gray mustache with an understanding expression.
Suddenly, Zar spoke up.
"Why are you doing this, Wilfred?" he asked. His small eyes looked coldly at his subordinate without an ounce of fear.
Hearing this question, Wilfred chuckled a little and replied, "Why are you even asking, Zar? You know I always act for my own benefit, and this time the Crimson Order’s offer is too tempting to refuse. Look what they gave me as a sample."
Wilfred proceeded to pull out a small box, one that Drai was familiar with. He opened it and picked up a black pill, showing it to Zar.
"This thing here is what we oldies so desperately wish for, Zar—power," Wilfred stated. His wrinkled eyes couldn’t hide his elation.
"The black pill... You know it’s merely a temporary boost, right?" Zar remarked with a disdainful look.
"Of course. After all, I’ve tried it myself before agreeing to their terms. But it’s better than nothing, especially when they’re still perfecting the formula. I reckon Ravismus’ capture will expedite their research. So what do you think, Zar? Fancy following my lead and work with these guys? I can try persuading them to spare your life," Wilfred said, smiling impishly.
"Hmph. I’d sooner marry your grandma than join these idiots," Zar replied as he gave Wilfred a middle finger.
Wilfred shrugged at Zar’s rejection and turned to the woman beside him, saying, "He’s all yours, Theia."
Theia cracked her neck and clenched her fists, slamming them against each other. Following this, earth-colored scales emerged from her skin, covering her fists, neck, and cheeks. In addition, a pair of horns emerged from her head, parting her auburn hair.
Drai raised an eyebrow upon seeing Theia’s transformation, as he found the woman somewhat resembling Alancho and Natalia. In fact, Drai felt that Theia’s form was bridging the gap between the father’s and daughter’s forms—more advanced than Natalia’s but not as complete as Alancho’s.
Meanwhile, Lua also activated her skill in response. She rapidly grew in size, and her skin transformed into tree bark. She now looked like a large human tree.
Lua immediately rushed toward Theia with surprising agility, her thick limbs were not lumbering at all.
"Get out of here!" she roared with a strange voice, unclear whether it was meant for Zar or Drai.
Wilfred leaped backward and landed on top of a nearby wall. He folded his arms and grinned, enjoying the bout that was about to unfold.
Lua punched toward Theia with her trunk-like fist. However, Theia deftly evaded the attack, bobbing her head as she glided under Lua’s incoming arm.
Realizing that she was about to miss, Lua quickly shifted her body along with the momentum of her punch to drop a body press against the smaller woman who was currently near her legs.
"Too slow," Theia remarked as she swerved around Lua, dodging her attack once more.
Lua’s body slammed hard onto the ground, and before she could recover her stance, Theia swung a fist toward her.
A large earth spike shot out from the ground following Theia’s move. It crashed onto Lua’s side, smashing a part of her bark skin into pieces and sending her rolling on the ground.
"What a shame," Wilfred commented from the side. "Lua’s Ent-hybrid class is actually pretty strong, but without her spells, she won’t be able to match Theia. If not for the one-sided spell restriction, this match could have been a lot more exciting."
Meanwhile, Zar didn’t run away but simply stood there. He watched the two women fight while clenching his small fists in frustration.
’Looks like I don’t have a choice but to use it soon. What a waste...’ he thought.
A few moments later, the fight was almost over. Lua was standing there groggily on the brink of collapsing—her bark armor was nearly stripped bare from Theia’s consecutive earth spikes.
"It wasn’t a fair fight, but unfortunately, I’m on a tight schedule. There’s no time for honor," Theia said as she slowly approached her weakened opponent. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Lua couldn’t even muster a reply, as she was currently having a hard time maintaining her skill and consciousness. Her whole body was in tatters and streams of blood were running down her legs, dying the ground red.
"Now die," Theia said, punching forward.
"Damn it!" Zar remarked as he pressed his finger against his forehead. However, a gigantic shadow suddenly loomed above, stopping his motion.
Just when Theia unleashed her finishing blow, her senses blared. Knowing what this signified, Theia didn’t hesitate and instantly activated her movement skill, jumping to the side. Less than a second later, a giant fist slammed onto her previous spot, crushing the ground along with the earth spike that she had just launched.
"What in the world is that?!" Wilfred exclaimed in shock upon seeing the towering creature in front of him. His heart sank and he instinctively darted away. It was only after he had reached quite far that he finally stopped and turned around.
Having gotten a clearer look, Wilfred’s eyes widened as he remarked, "It’s that kid?!"
Drai had just activated his skill to its limit. Standing taller than Zar’s mansion, his eyes closely followed Theia’s figure that was currently escaping.
"I’ll deal with her. You guys get to safety," Drai’s voice boomed. He then leaped toward Theia, creating a localized earthquake as his feet kicked the ground.
Zar’s jaw was still dropping as he watched the giant figure leave. At the same time, Lua finally deactivated her skill and collapsed to the ground with a thud.
"Oh shit," Zar remarked before rushing toward Lua. He took out a healing potion from his dimensional storage and immediately poured its content into Lua’s mouth. After emptying the bottle, he took out another one and splashed its content over Lua’s wounds.
Lua clenched her teeth as her wounds began to sizzle. Zar knelt beside her and proceeded to wipe her sweating face and neck with his fancy robe.
"Zar!" a voice suddenly called. Zar turned his head and saw a familiar figure running toward him.
"What happened here?" Ravi asked upon arriving at Zar’s side. His face was frowning as he had spotted Lua, who was lying beside Zar in a sorry state with a pained look.
"We were ambushed. There’s this Theia girl who’s part of the Crimson Order—her class is very similar to Alancho’s. And she’s not affected by the spell restriction," Zar replied.
"I think they have a way to bypass the spell restriction. A first-year who attacked me earlier wasn’t affected by it either," Ravi mentioned.
"A first-year? So they’ve really planned ahead, huh?" Zar remarked, visibly infuriated.
