Seed of Titan-Chapter 125: Like a Meteor, Arriving at a New Biome
With a renewed sense of terror, Drai shifted his gaze to the golden ape, which was still observing him in silence.
’He’s too strong. I can’t win...’
Responding to Drai’s stare, the ape "spoke" the same phrase again.
"AMAG."
Drai was in no position to start studying primate vocalizations, so he ignored it and quickly leaped away.
’This bastard’s being conceited. He knows he can catch up to me anytime he wants... I need to lose him in the jungle.’
With that thought, Drai hopped onto solid ground near the trees. He bent his knees and poured all of his strength into his legs. Then, like a rocket, he launched himself high into the sky.
As he passed by the tree branches, Drai barked inwardly, ’Use health recovery!’
[Initiating health recovery.]
A wave of heat spread through his broken arms, reassuring Drai that the process had begun. But it would take more than a few seconds to fully mend his fractured bones.
Just then, a gust of wind surged behind him.
’Shit!’
Sensing an incoming attack, Drai tensed his muscles in defense, bracing for impact. But to his surprise, the force wasn’t as devastating as expected. Instead, he felt himself being propelled even higher into the sky. Within seconds, he had shot past the canopy.
Making use of the air resistance, Drai twisted his body midair and caught sight of the golden ape hovering a short distance away.
Drai noticed that the golden ape wasn’t really flying, as it kept dropping in altitude a bit before a burst of lightning from its feet propelled its body upward, much like Jian’s clever use of his Crescent Slash.
Just as Drai wondered why the apex alpha had failed to strike him cleanly, arcs of lightning suddenly erupted from its body, forming a crackling storm.
Drai knew an attack was coming. Still lacking any aerial abilities, Drai could only grit his teeth and curl up, making himself a smaller target.
Suddenly, an idea struck him.
’System, if I suffer a heavy injury from this attack, heal me right away.’
[Affirmative. One instance of auto recovery has been set.]
Drai sighed in relief. He felt that his survival odds had just gone up by quite a bit. But as he felt the heat from his recovering arms, he was reminded that there was still a chance for him to perish if the recovery rate couldn’t keep up with the damage. And in the worst case, he could die just die instantly before the recovery could even kick in.
At this instant, the golden ape unleashed a massive lightning torrent toward Drai.
A huge explosion lit up the sky, and Drai was blasted into the horizon. High voltage of electricity was coursing throughout his body, burning his insides as he streaked across the wilderness sky like a shooting star.
Drai couldn’t even let out a single scream due to his convulsion. Soon, his trajectory rapidly curved downward.
Unbeknownst to Drai, he had shot past an extremely steep cliff where the dense jungle abruptly ended. And now his body was plummeting into the dark canyon below.
A thunderous boom echoed throughout the area as Drai crashed into the ground like a meteor, sending shockwaves that swept through the ground, shaking the sparse vegetation around the epicenter and even uprooting a few of them.
A thick cloud of dust lingered for minutes before finally settling, revealing Drai’s tattered body that was lodged in the center of a deep crater. Upon closer look, his body was still twitching from the remaining current of the golden ape’s lightning blast.
Minutes passed, and Drai remained embedded in the ground, though his convulsion seemed to have stopped. At this moment, his body began to shrink—Colossal Augmentation reached its time limit.
Unlike the jungle, the area was mostly silent. Only sounds of wind could occasionally be heard as they brushed against the barren trees and bushes.
Clacking sounds suddenly filled the air, and not long after, a giant spider appeared at the edge of the crater. Whether it was due to its multiple black round eyes or thick hair strands spread over its body, the spider was able to sense the helpless prey nearby.
With its eight sharp claws clacking like terribly performed percussions, the giant spider quickly approached Drai. It latched its fangs onto Drai’s waist and dragged him away, presumably toward its burrow.
Right at this moment, a shadow flashed, striking the spider on its bulky abdomen, which caused it to flinch and loosened its maw, dropping the unconscious Drai to the ground.
"Shoo," said the figure calmly.
The spider stood its ground. It wasn’t easily intimidated by this aggressor that was way smaller than itself.
The man sighed and blurred from his spot. Appearing behind the spider, he grabbed the beast’s leg and swung it once before tossing it far away. This man’s movements were slick, not leaving any room for the giant spider to retaliate.
"Thank your ancestors that you taste funky, otherwise I’d have kept you for dinner," the man said before making his way toward Drai.
Crouching beside the charred young man, the figure flipped Drai’s body that was currently facing down.
"Ew!"
It wasn’t the gruesome wounds that grossed out the man—it was the sight of a roasted phallus that was dangling from Drai’s blackened crotch.
The person swiftly took out a small rag and covered the repulsive sight.
Sighing in relief, he muttered, "What the hell happened to this poor fellow? And how did he get here? No sane person would wander this far."
Suddenly, the smell of grilled meat mixed with a hint of putridness struck his nose, which caused his mouth to water.
"Oh, my bad," the man quickly apologized as he wiped his drool. Standing up, he looked down at Drai and shook his head lamentingly.
"I thought I could finally meet a fellow person after so long, turns out he’s already dead. What a shame..."
After letting out a sigh, the man scratched his chin in contemplation.
"Now, I wonder where I should bury you... Oh! There’s a scenic spot at the gorge. You probably won’t turn into a vengeful ghost with such an good view from your grave."
Nodding in satisfaction, the man reached down to lift Drai’s "corpse". But the moment his hand pressed against Drai’s chest, he felt a faint pulse.
"Shit! He’s alive!"
Without hesitation, he hoisted Drai onto his shoulder and dashed away in haste.
