Seed of Titan-Chapter 95: Vines and Valor
Sitting among the captured students, Flo’s face was full of worry as she watched Jian confront their captor, a woman with long messy hair. Like those before her, she also wore a dark robe, although it looked rather ragged and dirty.
"How are you so strong for a first-stager?!" the unkempt woman screamed as she launched another set of vines that had just sprouted from the ground near her feet, directing it toward her opponent who was circling the area.
"Hahaha! You’ve met your nemesis! Sucks to be you, hobo!" Jian shouted excitedly while slashing apart the woman’s attack with relative ease.
"Damn you!" the woman cursed. She didn’t know why this young man who seemed like a student could easily destroy her vine attacks. She then launched another attack, this time with two sets of thorny vines. But to her dismay, Jian’s Full Moon danced through her attack, turning them into small pieces.
"Try again, hobo!" Jian taunted the robed woman, his face looking extra haughty.
Upon witnessing her friend’s unexpected prowess, Flo asked herself in shock, ’How is Jian this strong?! Isn’t he only one level above us?!’
Since none of the students could break free from the woman’s vines that were currently tying them up, these vines were obviously not fragile at all. Yet, against Full Moon, these vines were powerless, looking more like a vegetable for cooking rather than a skill.
As Jian kept maneuvering while waiting for an opening, he was constantly laughing inside.
’What a stroke of luck! I only picked it up since I had plenty of spare SP, but who knew that the useless gardening skill would be really effective against her?’
Of course, Jian was referring to Avid Plant Cutter, the skill that he had mentioned once during the party gathering at the park after Auri had just returned from the hospital.
’Not only am I able to sense which parts to target, but my cutting power is also elevated to a much higher level!’ Jian inwardly exclaimed as he easily defended against another attack.
The unkempt woman gritted her teeth, furious at her inability to deal with this young swordsman. She was somewhat thankful that her team members were currently busy rounding up the other students in the dorm, so they wouldn’t find out about this embarrassing matter if she could finish off her opponent before they were done.
The woman summoned a vine once more, but this time it was a single vine that was a lot larger than the previous ones. The top end of the large vine bent toward Jian and suddenly opened up, releasing a barrage of seeds.
Jian spun his sword while charging straight ahead, splitting the dozens of seeds into two while he made his way toward the unkempt woman.
The woman’s expression became fearful upon seeing that Jian was closing in rapidly. She quickly folded her arms and encased herself in a cocoon made of vines.
"Useless!" Jian exclaimed as he thrust his sword at the cocoon’s weakest point. With the help of his skill, Full Moon breached the woman’s final defense without much resistance and stabbed into the vine cocoon, followed by the woman’s loud shriek that sounded briefly before she immediately fell silent.
The numerous students gasped as they witnessed the unthinkable. A few of them started to tear up after realizing that there was a high chance for them to be freed soon. Even Flo couldn’t help but think that Jian was looking really cool, which she found was very unlike him.
Jian grinned widely upon seeing the result of his strike. He was filled with a sense of accomplishment that was far greater than what he had felt after defeating his second golem during the first venture. After all, he had just defeated a genuine second-stage evolver, and it was also done without much difficulty.
’Sorry I doubted you, gardening skill! Maybe I should secretly get that tiger mouth skill too and see if it’s actually useful...’ Jian thought as he pulled Full Moon out. However, he quickly realized that his sword was stuck.
"What the fuck?!" Jian cursed while veins were popping out of his face and arms due to his utmost exertion. But no matter how hard he pulled, Full Moon didn’t budge and was still stuck in the vine cocoon.
After a few more seconds had passed, Jian’s face lightened up because the twirling vines were starting to unwind, which he thought would finally free his sword. But as soon as the cocoon opened up, Jian’s expression turned grave.
Instead of being dead, the unkempt woman was staring at Jian coldly while grabbing Full Moon’s blade with her bare hands, keeping it inches away from stabbing her chest.
Jian frantically pulled, trying his best to retrieve his sword, but he clearly couldn’t match the woman’s strength.
"I think I understand what’s happening," the woman mumbled before releasing her grip, sending Jian tumbling backward.
Jian quickly stood up and took a defensive stance. However, unlike what he had expected to happen, the woman was not attacking at all. She simply stood there and made a challenging gesture.
"Come."
Jian couldn’t stand the provocation, so he instantly dashed forward, brandishing his sword. His arms turned into a blur as he unleashed a series of quick slashes, similar to what he did before when he was defending against the woman’s attacks.
But this time Jian’s swordplay was rendered ineffective, for the woman was parrying all his attacks without trouble.
Realizing his situation, Jian leaped back while unleashing his skill.
"Crescent Slash!"
Seeing the attack, the unkempt woman snorted in disdain before pouncing at Jian, avoiding the crescent beam in the process. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Argh!" Jian cried out upon getting knocked down by the woman’s hammer fist strike. And before he could even get up, his sword was kicked away and he was slapped on the back of his head, causing his face to slam into the ground.
"Jian!" Flo yelled in horror as she watched the woman lift Jian by his neck. The few students who had been tearing up from hope earlier were now crying fearfully. Some of the other captives were also desperately shouting because they knew that the chivalrous young man who had gone out of his way to save them was now doomed to die.
