Chapter 810: Chapter 808: A HEART-TO-HEART CONVERSATION – LAYING OUT THE GROUNDWORK

Waylon raised his head and shook his head, embarrassingly.

"We didn’t talk that much, especially after the year ended. When she graduated," he truthfully confessed.

She gave him a side eye, responding, "You see! You were already lacking when it came to communication there. At times, we women are very sensitive. At times, we need you guys to start us for no reason. If we continue doing so by ourselves, we get tired and then we will just follow your steps.

As a result, the relationship with drift apart like this, which will lead to the lady finding other means to be happy and, in this case, finding someone she believed was richer than you."

"But .... If there were problems, wasn’t she supposed to bring it up?" he couldn’t help but ask.

"Huh, probably, but perhaps in her mind she thought that you could think about it as well and try to make it work, but you didn’t."

"But that doesn’t give her the right to cheat the way she did. If she no longer loved me, then breaking up amicably could do the trick!"

"Ha, peacefully! There is nothing as peaceful in a woman’s vocabulary, especially when she is hurt. She wanted to hurt you so badly. That is why she came here with that man, wearing his clothes, and ended things the way she did.

Anyway, both of you were in the wrong. You should have communicated when things were both good and bad. Even if you weren’t allowed to reveal your background, you should have made her feel secure in that state.

There are many ordinary people out there who are living it big without money and yet they feel secure. Of course, money is very important. I will not lie that I don’t like it when I love it dearly."

"How was I supposed to make her feel secure?" he asked curiously.

"You were known already to being a licker of your supposed rich friends. Since you were friends, why didn’t you bother at least basking in their luck and lie about investments or sorts?

In her eyes, since you were so relaxed, she felt disappointed and that there would be no future between you two. When a man doesn’t look ambitious and looks like he would eat soft rice, the woman tends to have a change of heart. Especially if she meets a man who cares for her."

"So, will you be swayed by a man like that as well?" he asked cautiously and nervously.

"I don’t like a man eating my soft rice. He should do something, at least. Besides, who doesn’t want a caring man by her side no matter the real reason?"

Waylon felt dejected the more he listened, though he knew that it was the truth.

"But don’t blame yourself much. It’s good that she is gone. If she had learnt about your background, you could have brought a leech into your family. If she truly loved you as she said, then talking things out with you was the best.

Since you were supposed to spend the rest of your life together, sitting down and discussing the future. That’s what lovers do.

Babe, why don’t you try to do this and that? Life is difficult now. You can find another work and when you have more money in the future, you can start your own restaurant.

Or asked you for what she wanted when she felt like it. You could meet midway.

Of course, you are also in the wrong. As a man and a boyfriend, don’t you know that girls need to be taken care of? Instead of waiting for her to ask, spoil her now and then. It’s not like you couldn’t afford it."

Diamond felt her temples throbbing the more she talked about this matter. This couple was doomed to fail from the start. She didn’t know what Jackie expected when she pursued Waylon or what kind of tests Waylon wanted to do, but there was one truth. The relationship ended and bore no fruit.

Waylon sighed dejectedly as he picked up the wineglass and brought it to his lips for a sip.

He closed his eyes as he thought about his relationship and felt that Diamond was very right. He shouldn’t blame Jackie. Perhaps he was the one at fault from the start, but as a man, he didn’t think much about it.

Unfortunately, it was too late to regret it. She was gone, and he didn’t want her back regardless of who was in the wrong.

His heart had someone in it, though he wasn’t sure if he would get her with how he was. She must be disappointed in him after learning all that from him.

Diamond didn’t know what he was thinking about but she didn’t like seeing him being so distracted and in pain, especially when that woman was concerned.

Although she couldn’t stop herself from pointing out some hurtful things to him, she did it for his own good. What if they are together and then he does the same thing? Won’t she be the one to be hurt next?

So, letting him know of his weaknesses was for his own good. That way, he could correct them. He would treat her well when the time came.

However, before that time arrived, it was for the best if she could make him forget about Jackie for a moment. And she knew the best way to do so.

"You follow me, do you?" she suddenly asked, and that question brought Waylon out of his thoughts.

He looked confusingly at her but still nodded as he answered, "Yes, I do."

She smilingly nodded at him and then said, "You must have listened to my latest long broadcast, right?"

Waylon remembered the broadcast pretty clearly. He nodded in response.

"That’s good. Then you should have heard me talking about polyandry. Now that I am in front of you, aren’t you curious about whether I was being truthful or just pulling everyone’s legs?" she teasingly asked as she leaned in her chair, taping the desk rhythmically.

Badum. Badum.

’What does she mean by that?’ his heart raced wildly at the question but he forced himself to remain nonchalant before he opened his mouth and answered, "I am curious, but I wonder if that can be asked. After all, it’s your privacy!"

Diamond chuckled heartily when she heard that. She picked up a glass of juice and took a sip before looking at Diamond with a smile.

"It’s indeed my privacy, but you have already shared with me about your life. So, what’s wrong with me sharing a bit about this secret of mine? What do you think?" she asked playfully as she tilted her head.

Upon hearing that, Waylon chuckled, amusement in his eyes as he picked up the wineglass feeling a bit good.

"I will be honored!" he said earnestly before gulping down the whole glass.

Diamond’s brows rose playfully upon seeing that.

"That’s good. Then I guess tonight we will share secrets. That means we will become friends. Can you accept that?" she teasingly stated.

"Hehe, aren’t we already friends?" he retorted playfully and Diamond broke into a heartful laughter. The restaurant was filled with a wonderful atmosphere.

After a bit of laughter, Diamond became serious. She was about to reveal her secret to the man she was targeting. Before she got the man she wanted, she believed that letting him know what she was like beforehand would be very helpful.

At least he would prepare for the situation in his mind first. He would become curious and, if tempted, it would make it easy for her to make him hers in due time.

If he couldn’t accept that, then it meant that he should be discarded. She wouldn’t waste her efforts on a man who wouldn’t follow her ideals. If he couldn’t accept that, then either remain friends or don’t talk at all. Though she anticipated the best in this case.

"I wasn’t lying about what I said that day!"

Boom!

There was an explosion in his mind when she said that, and more to come when he continued to listen.

"In fact, it’s not a possibility, but what I am. I once loved a man to the point of madness and he broke my heart so badly I swore never to date again," she confessed with a mocking laugh, recalling how bad Donald did her.

When he heard that, Waylon couldn’t help but remember the story that every follower of Diamond knew about her past relationship. She had never hidden it, anyway.

"There was a time when I wanted to end it all. I know I have mentioned it previously on my broadcasts, but I can’t help it. The pain was so severe, I didn’t want to be hurt ever again. But then I had money. Too much of it, I didn’t know how to spend it.

I became more beautiful, and people now looked at me the way they couldn’t before. I finally found that confidence and self-esteem I had lost," she chuckled heartily as she said that, a twinkle in her eyes which made Waylon feel complicated as he looked at her.
