Chapter 812: Chapter 810: BECOMING FRIENDS

"Hahaha, I like you, Diamond!" suddenly Waylon broke into a hearty laughter after digesting the threats and pieces of advice that she had given him.

Where had he ever met someone so fearless like that?

No wonder why he fell for her when he saw her. She was unique and one of a kind. It would truly be his loss if he didn’t become closer to her.

Diamond, who was lost in her thoughts, thinking about the worst possibility a while ago, was stunned as she looked at Waylon, who looked different from what he was a moment ago.

She looked at him puzzledly, but the more she looked at this version of him, the more she found him much more pleasing.

’I guess he is a clever one!’ she surmised with a smile, feeling awesome about the decision he made.

Her lips curled upwards as she reached for the glass of juice and took a sip before putting it down.

"I like you too!" after all, he was one of the few people she talked about her polyandrous secret and probably the first when it came to those shameless people she had dealt with.

Waylon’s eyes sparkled as he listened to that. Even though he knew that it wasn’t the kind of like he wanted to hear but this one was still better. At least, it meant that he could now be closer to her. After all, with all the secrets that they shared, if they didn’t become friends at least, then what would be waiting for him?

He didn’t dare imagine that. He could tell that the woman he was crushing on was not as simple as others think. She was deadly, like a lily spider, but he liked her, nonetheless.

"That’s good. So, since we shared our secrets, we are close friends, right?" he asked anticipatingly as he leaned forward.

Diamond didn’t pull away but leaned forward. That way, the two faces were nearly touching and the tense atmosphere brought a certain ambiguous spark which seemed to be igniting the two individuals with selfish reasons they didn’t dare let the other party know.

With a teasing smile on her face, she felt his breath close to her, and her blood racing wildly. She opened her mouth and licked her bottom lip before answering, "Very close friends," her words barely a whisper. It made Waylon, who had been fantasizing for ages, feel the rush. His body ached but in a good way.

The two sly foxes looked at each other for a while, their gazes deepening. They drew one another and yet didn’t dare to back off. Instead, those two faces seemed to be getting nearer to each other, and none of them seemed to be willing to put a halt to it.

"So, here is to mothers near or far,

Whose endless giving knows no cease ..."

Unfortunately, when it’s not time, there will always be stumbling blocks on the road. At that very perfect moment, with two individuals holding their breaths, inching closer to each other, Diamond’s ringing tone sounded, disrupting the ambiguous moment.

"Damn!" she cussed lowly as she pulled back, tugging her hair behind her ear, her heart racing wildly, wondering who dared disturbed this wonderful moment.

She was almost there. She nearly kissed Waylon. That was going to be her first kiss in months, and yet it was gone. Who knows when she would be able to get it?

After all, this opportunity came because of the wonderful atmosphere the two created after confirming their friendship. Now that the momentum was disturbed, she doubted if this man who had just broken up would be that close to her ever again.

It was such a loss, and she wanted to cuss whoever was calling.

However, when she saw the caller ID, all cusses were put on hold.

"Ruby!" she answered with gritted teeth, suppressing her murderous intent.

Meanwhile, on Waylon’s side, he sucked in a cold breath, feeling the large tent a bit painful and his heat aching from regret. The chance was there and yet it was gone just like that.

When he heard Diamond answering her younger sister, he couldn’t help but remember that Ruby seemed to have feelings for him. He couldn’t help but feel guilty. He apologetically nodded at her and stood up hurriedly, in a way that she wouldn’t see that tent.

Unfortunately, Diamond’s eyes were very sharp and saw very well. She simply stifled her chuckle as she pretended not to see him and continued to talk to Ruby without knowing about the crazy relationship between Ruby and Waylon.

"I will see you tomorrow if tonight can’t do. Can that work?"

[Sorry sis. The work is too much. If I had known earlier, I would have called earlier,] Ruby apologetically said and Diamond shook her head softly, recalling how she had forgotten about Ruby earlier.

She felt guiltier for doing so.

"It’s okay dear. I can take care of myself. I will drop by tomorrow. I won’t disturb you."

[Thank you, sis, and travel safely. Okay!]

"Um, I will, and you take care of yourself as well."

The two sisters bided each other goodnight before the call ended.

While she was on the phone, Waylon was in the staff bathroom, washing his face to cool down.

"Ha, Waylon. What have you done?" he chided himself as he thought about what he was about to do.

Was he a pervert? Or cold-blooded for wanting to kiss Diamond when he had just broken up with Jackie a few hours ago?

Was that being bad of him?

Slap.

He slapped his cheeks lightly and furiously scolded himself.

"You are not a coward. She broke up with you and the relationship ended. Since you no longer have real feelings for her, stop acting like a coward. She doesn’t like cowards. Be strong and stick to her like glue!" he cheered himself, recalling what Diamond wanted.

After a short cheer, he felt much better.

He wasn’t born and raised to be a coward. Although his family wasn’t too autocratic when it came to their marriages and the like. It didn’t mean that he should push himself into a situation that would make him sad.

He wanted to follow in his parents footsteps, and being with Diamond felt like the right thing to do.

She was already honest with her feelings and he recalled how he didn’t feel that opposed if he were to share her with other men. He felt guilty because he had such thoughts when he was still with Jackie and preparing for the anniversary, but with Jackie gone, he didn’t have much to worry about.

He just needed to pursue Diamond and to do so, he needed to maintain their friendship and let her be aware that he was there. It was a pity that the kiss was interrupted, but on the other hand, it was also good. After all, if they had kissed, what would be next?

He spent a while preaching to himself and with a few more words, his confidence boosted and was ready to return.

The tent, at some point, had returned to normal, making it easy and bearable for him to return.

When he returned to the restaurant, he found her chuckling as she played with her phone.

As if sensing that he was back, she raised her head, a smile on her face, which brightened her face as if she had a halo behind her. He involuntarily smiled, infected by her smile. He felt warm all over.

"Are you full?" he asked teasingly, despite knowing that dinner was over a long time ago.

Diamond rolled her eyes at him, the smile still on her face, and answered, "Do you want to cook again?"

He chuckled when he heard that and said teasingly, "How about another day? It’s late. We can find something else to eat if you aren’t full yet."

It was her turn to laugh when she heard that but didn’t refute what he said. "You promised!"

"Um. You can tell me what you want and I will whip it for you," he promised, never forgetting to create a chance to meet her again.

Her smile widened when she heard that and responded, "I will remember your words. Let’s clean up. We can grab something outside," and suggested.

Waylon didn’t object to that. As long as he could spend more time with her. He was willing to do anything.

So, the two of them helped each other, though it was Waylon who washed the dishes while Diamond watched with a smile on her face as she chatted about this and that, laughter sounding throughout the restaurant.

When the dishes were over, the two packed their stuff. Once that was done, Waylon locked the restaurant before stretching his arm towards Diamond, who was wearing the mask once again.

Diamond didn’t stand on ceremony, but let him hold her. The two walked in the alley like a pair of lovers, chatting about interesting stories and laughing hard, as if they had known each other for ages.

"What do you want to eat?" he asked as he took her to the food street nearby.

Diamond pondered for a while as she took in the delicious aromatic smells from the food being sold, and an answer popped into her mind.

"Let’s get some hot dogs and roasted chicken innards," she said to him.

Waylon nodded at her request, not finding it surprising at all. Diamond was the kind of person who ate anything as long as she liked it.
