Chapter 153: The Tale Of The First Magical Vampire {1}

Millenniums Ago

"Come brother, why stare?"

"Leave him be... he always looks out"

"Why should he? There’s nothing interesting in the Mortal Realm"

"Yes I know just petite Mortals that could easily break in a snap"

"Do you know why he looks?"

"No, I do not... seems like he finds something that interests him"

"Well if he wants a pet we can just get it for him"

"Brother"

5 years old Nicklaus Darkmore turned to his two siblings with an unreadable expression. "What?" he asked, almost irritated.

"Do you want a pet brother?" Little Celeste asked, her big emerald eyes on him, hands on her jaw in the way in which she laid on the chair, her legs wagging back and forth behind her.

"Sister seems to think you want one brother" Alaric intoned crossing his leg on top of the other with a smile on his lips, a hand against his jaw, although he looked 5, he acted like a grown male, they all did. They were knowledgeable, trained, well mannered and their style of clothing in this era was quite fashionable, compared to the Mortal world of the ancient Rome era.

The Vampires of the old society currently reside here in ancient Rome, in one of the most architectural buildings, redefined for their golds and riches as well as fame, the people of Rome looked at them like they would any ancient wealthy family but they didn’t know what they were true.

"I do not want a pet," Nicklaus said sternly.

"Then why do you always look out the window?" Alaric said he was puzzled now.

Nicklaus turned his gaze back to the window, seeing Rome city up ahead and its night lights. "It’s always dark in here" was his simple answer. While outside occasionally had bright lights, this evening seemed different, the night in the city was loud.

"You shouldn’t bore yourself in those brothers, when the Mortals take one look at you, they fall to your feet, your mere appearance will stun them," Celeste said firmly, knowing everything about them was different from theirs, and trusting the human society to take wild interest in something new.

The doors barged open as an elderly woman walked in, dressed in a black robe dress but gold graced them.

"Now young ones... time for bed," she said with a clap of her hand, Alaric and Celeste rose to their feet.

"Race you to the chambers," Celeste said, already leaving in a blur.

"No fair sister!" Alaric yelled, going after her.

"Do not run young ones!" the lady barked at their actions, she was no other than their caretaker, tasked with babysitting these three ever since they were hatched, it is said this three are a very special Vampires, born with the essence of grace from their ancestors, a special bloodline as they called them with a big destiny ahead of them.

She turned to the young boy still setting his eyes on the window.

"Young master, it’s time for bed," she said in a calm tone.

"Why are the lights the brightest tonight?" he asked, croaking his head to the side.

"Oh, that? I believe they have something called the festival" she said, walking to the window and pulling the curtains.

"You shouldn’t see such things, our ways and theirs are different, if you want anything you ask me, I and the elders are here to settle all your needs," she said with a smile.

Nicklaus just looked away, rising to his feet and walking out of the room, the caretaker gave a heavy sigh.

On hearing the cheering sounds of Mortals and beating drums Nicklaus couldn’t sleep as he tousled and turned on the bed, he sighed, turning his eyes back to the window, there was no way he would sleep without taking another peek.

He was off his bed and to the window pulling the curtains away, but to him, he didn’t see enough. There was a certain urge to have a see for himself, he has been meaning to for some time now. Rushing down he grabs a black cloak, putting it on, making sure he hid his long hair in the hood, he climbed back to the window, out of it, the night air blowing against him.

"Just one look," he told himself with a smile against his lips.

☆☆☆

Closer now the beating drums were loud, Nicklaus’s eyes scanned the area of a busy street, he rubbed his eyes for the lights were too bright, there were wood stalls all put up and engaging in different sales and activities, far ahead there was a bonfire where people danced around. Nicklaus tilts his head in question, he looks around, their clothes and their style are all different, thank gods he wore a cloak, or else he would have stood out so much.

A group of kids giggled as they ran back against him while bumping into him but he stood his ground, the place was loud and cheering.

"Hey kid come play a game" One of the stall owners called.

"What kind of game?"

"Oh your accent, you must not be from around here" he states.

Nicklaus chewed the inside of his mouth, true, his vampire accent was stronger, they hardly speak English in the castle for they lived with elder vampires since they hatched.

"Well?" he urged, a smile on his lips.

"Just one then"

His smile broadens. "Hope you have some money on you?"

"I do not?" he pulled one of his gold rings off. "Will this suffice?"

"Dear heavens," his eyes went wide. "Ahem! I’m a good man and I must tell you, that is worth is my shop or more, a coin will suffice little boy"

"Really?"

"Yes boy"

He has tons of this back at the castle. "Take it then... I do have to pay to play do I not?"

"Y-Yes," he said, his eyes on the gold ring. "Are you sure boy?", he nods, the man took the ring.

"Now how do I play?" he asked with a smile on his lips.

"It’s called throwing"

☆☆☆

Nicklaus threw the bangle and it hit the mark for the 13th time. The stall owner’s mouth dropped.

"It’s boring if I keep winning," Nicklaus remarked.

"W-Well, not all wins on 13 rolls, you’re a natural" he commented. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"Thank you for your game," Nicklaus said with a smug look before walking away.

The stall owner, merely still stunned, stared at the ring. "I must be blessed," he said in joy, whoever that boy has had no idea what he has just done for him, and he just made a fortune in this festival.

Nicklaus continued his sight seeing, along the way he saw other games being played but he wasn’t interested in them anymore, for he knew if he played he would win.

"Hello young one"

"If it’s a game I’m not-" he paused when he turned, he saw a young lady, she was beautiful, with long dark hair that reached her waist, dressed in white attire, in silk.

"You look lost" she mused, her eyes the brightest blue he has ever since, and it was all shiny, Nicklaus eyes narrowed, she didn’t look Mortal to him, he could tell, because she was the strangest.

"I’m not lost," he said firmly.

"An accent I see... you are not where you ought to be" she states.

"And how would you know?" he asked boldly.

She laughed. "Little one these eyes have seen things"

"A sprite," Nicklaus said without question. "Aren’t you supposed to be in an eternal garden or something, I heard magical beings stay in Realms of their making"

"Well it’s a festival, I don’t miss one in the mortal Realm" she shrugs.

"You’re lucky then, you have a home... a realm even, at least you do not share it with people different from you and told not to mix with them because they might corrupt you with your ways," he said as his jaw tightened.

The lady sprite eyed the boy, he seemed like an interesting lad and he looked like someone interested in the other Realms, he must not be mortal, she wondered what magical creature he was.

"What’s your name, boy?" she asked curious of the young one.

Nicklaus paused, he cannot give his real name, he came here undercover and it shall remain so. "Magnus," he said his middle name instead, he wouldn’t dare to mention his last name, because everyone in all Realms knew of the special Hatch Darkmore siblings born with the grace of their ancestors.

"I’m Clelia, seer of the sprites" she announced. "You’re a Vampire are you not?"

His eyes narrowed."You have a good insight, woman" he commented.

She laughed. "And you are five but like a grown male" she mused. "One look at you and I sense something that sparked my curiosity" she added in a mystery.

"Tell me boy do you want to have your fortune read?"

"Vampire’s fates can’t be read," he said like a fact and it was true

Her eyes shone. "I think you’re an exception, young one"
