Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 139: Serena, Be Good and Come Home With Me
For several days straight, Serena Yardley refused to go home.
She just stayed at school, not even going back for the weekend.
This deeply frustrated Ethan Yardley.
On Friday, he went to the school gate himself and called Serena Yardley.
But Serena Yardley was very stubborn and had started ignoring his calls.
Finally, left with no other option, Ethan Yardley had to call Vivian Lynch.
Serena Yardley sat in the library, reading a book.
After receiving Mr. Yardley’s call, Vivian Lynch cautiously held the phone out to her. "Miss Serena, it’s Mr. Yardley."
Serena Yardley ignored her.
Vivian Lynch had no choice but to hold the phone to her ear.
The man’s somewhat chilly voice came through the phone.
"Serena, I’m letting you stay at the dorm, but you have to come home for the weekend, don’t you? I’m at the school gate now. Come out so we can go home."
"I’m not going." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Serena Yardley refused.
Her mood soured whenever she was with him.
At school, she could read and attend classes every day, and chat with her classmates afterward. She was in a much better mood here than she was at home.
"If you don’t come out, I’ll just have to come into the school to find you," Ethan Yardley threatened.
Serena Yardley said nonchalantly, "Suit yourself."
She irritably pushed the phone away.
Seeing that the call had ended, Vivian Lynch sat beside her, not daring to say another word.
At the school gate, Ethan Yardley sat in his car, thoroughly dejected.
’Serena is usually so easy to persuade. Why have I been trying for days with absolutely no effect?’
With no other choice, he instructed Yannick Young, "Arrange for me to go into the girls’ dormitory. Is there a face mask in the car?"
A lot of students at the university recognized him.
He didn’t want a crowd gathering around him as he went into a women’s dormitory.
Yannick Young quickly handed him a mask and hurried to call the university administration, asking them to make an exception and let his boss enter the dormitory.
...
Serena Yardley was still in the library.
After reading for two hours, she grew tired and headed back to her dorm.
Vivian Lynch followed her every step of the way.
As they reached the dormitory building, her former roommate, Kylie Cross, snuck up and draped an arm over her shoulder, asking curiously,
"Why has that woman been following you around lately? Is she a student here? How come I’ve never seen her before?"
Serena Yardley replied, "She’s no one important."
Kylie Cross looked skeptical.
"Your family didn’t arrange a companion for you, did they? I’ve heard that young ladies from wealthy families like yours get lonely since you’re only children, so your parents find someone to keep you company. Is that it?"
Serena Yardley didn’t answer.
Kylie Cross could see it too. Lately, their friend Serena was always looking downcast, as if something was weighing on her mind.
She added, "Serena, if anything’s wrong, you can tell us. We can help you work through it."
"Besides, everyone in our old dorm would welcome you back anytime."
"Thank you. Why don’t you all come over to my room later? I’ll get you some good snacks."
"Yeah, definitely! I heard the school gave you a private room. We haven’t seen it yet. How about we come over tonight and check it out?"
Serena Yardley agreed.
She and Kylie Cross used different elevators for their dorms, so they parted ways and headed to their respective rooms.
When they reached the door to her room, Vivian Lynch hurried forward to swipe the key card.
As they walked in, they looked up and saw a man sitting at the computer desk.
He wasn’t in his usual suit and vest, but a gray dress shirt that made him look younger and even more handsome.
The moment she saw him, what little color had returned to Serena Yardley’s face vanished, and her expression turned cold and sullen.
Taking the hint, Vivian Lynch quietly closed the door and left.
"Serena..."
Ethan Yardley rose and walked toward her.
Serena Yardley ignored him, walking past to sit at her desk, where she picked up a textbook and began to study.
Ethan Yardley came up behind her, leaning down close. "It’s been a few days. Don’t you miss me at all?"
His voice was soft and alluring.
Serena Yardley leaned away to avoid his touch. "You should go. My friends are coming over soon."
Her tone was still icy.
Ethan Yardley sighed. "Are you still angry?"
She didn’t say a word, just stared blankly at her book.
Ethan Yardley leaned over again, wrapping his arms around her from behind. He rested his chin on her shoulder, his warm breath tickling her ear. "Be a good girl, Serena... Come home with me. I’ll make you something delicious."
Serena Yardley remained impassive, but this time she didn’t resist his touch.
Ethan Yardley gently bit her earlobe, his voice magnetic and bewitching. "Want me to carry you back? I don’t mind an audience."
Serena Yardley was flustered by his attempts to seduce her.
She raised her hands to push him away. "I’m not going back. Go away, and don’t touch me."
Seeing her reaction, Ethan Yardley backed off and sat on the edge of the nearby bed. "Are you planning to live here forever?"
"Don’t worry. I’ll go for my regular check-ups. I’ll give birth to your child."
...
Ethan Yardley fell silent. Gazing at Serena’s back, he felt a complex mix of emotions.
’So she’s not going to forgive me?’
’Why is she so stubborn?’
Ethan Yardley’s patience wore thin. "Serena Yardley, what exactly do you want from me before you’ll come home?"
The man’s voice was loud and cold.
A pang of hurt shot through Serena Yardley’s heart. She lowered her head and fell silent.
A wave of sadness washed over her again.
The sense of being wronged made her eyes sting as if filled with sand.
Ethan Yardley stood up and continued to lecture her.
"There has to be a limit to these tantrums, don’t you think? It’s been days. If you won’t think about yourself, at least think about the baby."
"The doctor said you’re weak and need to rest more. How are you supposed to rest when you’re staying at school, waking up early and going to bed late every day?"
"Get up. You’re coming home with me."
He reached out to pull her up.
Serena Yardley stubbornly shook his hand off.
"I’m not going back with you. I already told you, I agreed to have the baby for you. If you try to force me to do anything else I don’t want to do, I can’t guarantee what will happen."
Ethan Yardley was furious, but he still had the sense to keep his voice low as he yelled,
"Why won’t you come home with me? That is your home. The home you’ve dreamed of since you were a child. Don’t you even want that anymore?"
"A home of mine wouldn’t be like that. Another woman has lived there. I don’t like that place at all."
Hearing this, Ethan Yardley immediately offered, "There’s a villa not far from the university. I bought that for you, too. Why don’t we live there?"
"I’m fine here at school. Just go. I don’t want to talk to you."
She was still adamant about not going back with him.
Ethan Yardley was truly at a loss with her, pacing back and forth in frustration.
Finally, he calmed down and asked, "You’re really not coming home with me?"
"No."
"Fine. I won’t force you. Take good care of yourself."
Ethan Yardley was genuinely angry. Unable to control her and at his wit’s end, he strode out of the room. Seeing Vivian Lynch standing nearby, he tossed out a few cold words.
"Take good care of her."
Vivian Lynch quickly bowed her head. "Yes, Mr. Yardley."
Only after watching Mr. Yardley’s tall, imposing figure disappear did she push the door open and re-enter the room.
Vivian Lynch washed some fruit, brought it over, and set it down beside Serena Yardley. "Miss Serena," she said softly, "have some fruit. It’s good for the baby."
Serena Yardley lay her head on the desk without a word, her mind once again lost in a tangle of thoughts.
