Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 18: This Woman Needs to Be Taught a Lesson
Ethan Yardley went upstairs and back to their room. He found Serena Yardley lying on her stomach on the bed, her short legs dangling over the edge and kicking petulantly, as if venting her frustration.
Ethan Yardley walked over to her. "Still angry?"
Without looking up, Serena Yardley kicked her legs a few more times and replied sullenly, "No."
"Good."
Ethan Yardley really didn’t have the patience to soothe one of them, only to have to go and soothe the other.
He turned and walked into the closet to change.
When she didn’t hear anything for a while, Serena Yardley slowly tilted her head, searching for Ethan Yardley.
Seeing him in the closet, she slowly got up and sidled over, leaning against the wall with an expectant look on her face. In a low voice, she asked,
"Are you going out?"
"Yeah, to the office."
Ethan Yardley paused in the middle of tying his tie and looked at Serena Yardley. "Come here."
Serena Yardley obediently walked over and stood before him.
She was quite short. Even in shoes, she was only about five-foot-three. Standing in front of the six-foot-three man, she barely reached his shoulders.
His tall, imposing frame easily dwarfed her petite body, looming over her like a mountain.
Yet he deliberately leaned in closer, gesturing to the tie around his neck. "Here, you do it for me."
It wasn’t the first time Serena Yardley had tied his tie for him.
She had actually spent a long time learning how to do it online just for this.
Now, as she tilted her head back and took the tie in her hands, her movements were quite practiced.
Ethan Yardley gazed down at the young woman before him. Her lips were red, her teeth white, her cheeks flushed like peach blossoms.
Her eyes, in particular, were large and round like a pair of black gems, sparkling with a light that stirred a covetous desire in one’s heart.
Perhaps realizing he was too tall and that it was tiring for her to keep her neck craned and arms raised, he thoughtfully bent down, leaning closer.
His sudden proximity caught Serena Yardley off guard.
She couldn’t dodge in time, and their faces were inches apart. It felt as if they could feel each other’s soft breaths.
Serena Yardley had always known. ’He has a kind of magic about him.’
A magic that was constantly drawing her in.
’Just like right now. The atmosphere was charged with ambiguity. If she were to back away even an inch, that tension would linger.’
But she was too impatient. She tilted her chin up and pressed her lips against his cool ones.
Ethan Yardley’s brow furrowed.
’He’d only meant to lean down so she could finish tying his tie.’
’Who knew this woman would...’
’...seduce him again.’
’But damn it, he could never resist her.’
After indulging in her passionate kiss for a moment, Ethan Yardley rationally pulled away.
"Alright, I’m heading to work."
Serena Yardley had finished with the tie, but she kept a grip on it, her gaze fixed on him as she warned with fierce possessiveness,
"You’re mine. No matter what happens, you’re not allowed to have anyone else in your heart."
Ethan Yardley straightened up. As he averted his gaze from Serena Yardley, the corner of his mouth lifted into a bewitching, almost devilish smile.
He strode out of the closet. "Try to get along with Sylvia Schuyler while I’m gone. Call me if anything happens."
"Okay! Goodbye!"
After Ethan Yardley left, Serena Yardley rushed to the window. She watched with her own eyes as his car drove out of the courtyard, then turned away dejectedly to tidy her closet.
She was halfway through organizing her clothes when she heard the TAP... TAP... TAP of a cane at the door.
She looked up to see Sylvia Schuyler feeling her way into the room.
Serena Yardley noticed Mrs. Miller wasn’t with Sylvia. ’That’s weird,’ she thought. ’Isn’t she blind? How did she know I was in this room?’
Serena Yardley stayed silent, quietly trying to slip past Sylvia Schuyler and leave.
But just as she drew level with her, Sylvia Schuyler spoke.
"Serena Yardley. We need to talk."
Serena Yardley froze and stared at Sylvia. ’She’s blind, her eyes are open but she can’t see. She shouldn’t be able to see me, much less know I’m in the room, right?’
So, she pretended not to hear and continued toward the door.
But Sylvia turned to face her again and snapped, "Serena Yardley, stop playing dumb. I know you’re right here."
Serena Yardley stopped again, looking at Sylvia with curiosity.
She turned back, stood right in front of Sylvia, and deliberately made a face at her. She stuck out her tongue, then balled her fist and swung it menacingly toward Sylvia’s face.
She stopped just short of hitting her, of course.
But no matter what she did, Sylvia’s expression didn’t change one bit. She showed no reaction at all.
Serena Yardley was speechless. ’...’
’So she’s really blind?’
’If she’s really blind, why didn’t she stay in the hospital for treatment? What’s the rush to get discharged?’
Dropping the act, Serena Yardley said with a laugh,
"Look at you. You must have a heart of stone. You’re so ruthless you don’t even spare yourself. Well, look at you now—blind, with a broken leg. Doesn’t it hurt?"
A storm of fury was already raging inside Sylvia Schuyler.
She clenched her fists, picturing the defiant little brat in front of her. She wished she could send her flying with a single slap.
But remembering she was blind and couldn’t see a thing, she forced herself to hold back.
Suppressing her rage, Sylvia said,
"Serena Yardley, Ethan will marry me eventually. If you leave now, you can at least do so with some dignity."
Serena Yardley laughed again.
"You’re the most shameless woman I have ever met. Sylvia Schuyler, don’t you own a mirror? Don’t you see how pathetic and disgusting you are?"
"You..."
Sylvia sputtered, "Serena Yardley, I’m trying to have a civil conversation with you!"
"The problem is, I have no interest in talking to a bitch who’s begging for a beatdown. Are you going to get lost or not? If you don’t, don’t blame me for what happens next."
Still unwilling to give up, Sylvia shouted,
"Why must you be so stubborn? Ethan Yardley isn’t your final stop. Why not take some money while you’re still young and go have some fun? Wouldn’t that be better?"
"If you leave willingly, I can give you ten million."
"Hah. You should save your money. You’ll need it to buy yourself a coffin."
Serena Yardley couldn’t take it anymore. She kicked out at her. "Are you fucking leaving or not?"
Seeing that this little brat was completely unreasonable, Sylvia got so angry she had no choice but to leave for now.
Serena Yardley had just pulled over a chair and sat down when her phone rang.
She pulled it out and glanced at the screen. It was her roommate, Azure.
She answered the call. On the other end, Azure asked, "Serena, are you busy?"
Serena Yardley shook her head. "Not busy. What’s up? Are you home already?"
"No, I didn’t go home. I found a part-time job, so I’m planning to work here all summer instead. Today’s my birthday, so come celebrate with me."
’Today is Azure’s birthday?’
’But I thought her birthday was in October? What month is it even?’
Serena Yardley asked uncertainly, "Are you sure it’s your birthday?"
"Of course I’m not lying! I’ll send you the location. It’ll just be the two of us. Come keep me company."
Realizing she didn’t have many friends aside from her three roommates, Serena Yardley agreed. "Okay."
After hanging up, she went upstairs to pick out a gift to bring to Azure.
