Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Please Let Him Go

"Boom——"

Thunder roared, spreading through the layers of rain, as if it was going to fall right onto them.

Evelyn huddled up, the rain pouring down so hard she could hardly keep her eyes open.

Caden Lockwood stared at Evelyn, watching her being battered by the wind, soaked by the rain, and frightened by the thunder. He clenched his fists, standing straight, his dark eyes cold as ice, and a hint of self-satisfaction emerged on his handsome face.

He thought he was extremely happy at this moment.

Seeing Evelyn not respond, Shannon Dunn could only withdraw her hand and chuckled, "Do I need to excuse myself?"

"You’re not the one who should be excusing herself." Caden’s voice was icy, "As far as I remember, this land at the company’s entrance was bought. Not just anyone can stand here, right? If we attract journalists, they might think our prestigious Lockwood Group is bullying others."

His mocking tone was directed straight at Evelyn. Seeing her dim gaze, a cruel smile curled at the corner of his lips.

He continued with his thin lips moving, "If the security guard can’t even handle such a trivial matter as driving someone away, he can be fired."

Upon hearing this, Evelyn’s face turned even paler, her gaze seemed fragmented, unable to believe the person she was facing now was Caden Lockwood.

Opening her mouth, she wanted to say something, but not a word came out.

It seemed she had nothing left she wanted to tell him.

"Let’s go." Caden’s voice was cold, "Such an unrelated person, leave it to security to handle."

After speaking, Caden brushed past Evelyn’s side.

Not far away, a car sped over, hitting the brakes sharply. Logan Shaw hurriedly got out of the car, glanced at Caden and Shannon under the umbrella, and took off his suit jacket to cover Evelyn.

"Get in the car with me." Logan’s tone was commanding, "Evelyn, you don’t need to wrong yourself for me!"

Logan’s words were like a sharp knife, stabbing into Caden Lockwood’s heart.

Ha!

Being with him, Evelyn was wronged?

This was the best joke he had heard in his life!

Seeing Logan support Evelyn as they were about to leave, Caden Lockwood stepped forward in pursuit, his expression was frantic and tense.

Shannon was left completely outside the umbrella by Caden; her gaze shifted from Logan and Evelyn back to Caden, her hair drenched by the rain, she couldn’t help but step forward, closely following Caden.

Glancing at Shannon beside him, Caden simply handed the umbrella to her, then looked back at Evelyn, his tone quick and loud, "Weren’t you here to beg me to let him go?"

Hearing this, Evelyn stopped in her tracks.

She turned around, looked at Caden, and asked, "What do you want me to do?"

With a slight lift of his chin, Caden coldly uttered two words: "Come here."

"Evelyn!" Logan immediately held her back, "Don’t go! I can handle my own matters! You’re still sick, let me take you to the hospital first!"

Evelyn looked downward, hesitating.

She more or less understood Caden’s personality.

If she didn’t comply with his wishes, it was likely that things would spiral out of control.

She withdrew her wrist from Logan’s grasp, speaking softly, "Don’t worry, I’ll be fine."

With that, she flashed a faint smile at Logan and walked toward Caden.

Caden’s expression grew even more stern.

Was he a wild beast?

Could he possibly devour her?

It was merely coming to his side; did it need to be met with such gravity, discomfort, and aggrieved expression?

When she was with him before, didn’t she smile brightly?

But now, she could smile so sweetly at another man?

Despicable!

This woman was simply pushing him to his limits!

The veins on his forehead throbbed violently, Caden standing in the rain, his darkened face as frenzied as the current weather.

"Speak." Evelyn feigned a light-hearted tone, "What do you want, before you’ll let him go?"
