Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Why Make Things Hard on Your Own Body?

Caden Lockwood let out a cold laugh, his sharp and icy gaze leaving no room for any being to oppose him, the curve of his lips escalating into a maniacal laugh.

Anyone who dares to provoke Caden Lockwood, anyone who dares to challenge him repeatedly, no matter who they are, he will demand compensation manifold!

Even after so many days of gloomy agitation, he found himself strangely elated.

So, this is the sweet taste of revenge.

He thought, he would never forget this taste for the rest of his life.

The fact proved he indeed would not forget that moment.

The moment he thought he was extremely happy, but the reality was entirely the opposite, making him furiously want to kill.

Evelyn Morgan stood by the roadside trying to catch a cab; with the weather so bad, there were hardly any passing vehicles, and they were all private cars, with no taxis in sight.

She took out her phone, wanting to call Cecilia Lynch for help, only to find it already out of power.

She felt wronged and angry, along with an overwhelming sadness.

The thought of what Caden Lockwood had done to her, and the words he’d said, made her heart ache with a tearing pain.

Why is he like that?

Had she truly misjudged him all along?

Standing in the rain now, she slightly regretted getting off Caden Lockwood’s car.

She should have let him take her home!

Why did she have to go against herself like that?

Frustrated, she stomped her foot, with nowhere to shelter from the rain.

Thinking about moving forward, there might be a bus she could catch.

After all, she did have money on her!

Evelyn had just begun moving when a car stopped beside her.

The window rolled down, revealing two men around twenty-five or twenty-six inside.

"Hey pretty, walking alone in this heavy rain? Can’t catch a cab? Where are you heading? We can give you a ride!" The man in the passenger seat warmly invited Evelyn. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

It was not often that a car would stop and offer her a ride, so of course, Evelyn was pleased.

But seeing that the car was occupied by two men, and sensing their ulterior motives, she could only shake her head.

"No thanks," she said softly, "my friend will be here soon to pick me up."

"Look at you, you’re already soaked through. Are you still counting on your friend?" The driver gestured to Evelyn, "Hop in! We’re good people! People should trust one another!"

"Thank you, but really, there’s no need." Evelyn declined.

She had not reached the point of loving the world enough to trust everyone.

Saying this, Evelyn prepared to leave.

Just then, the car door opened, and the man in the passenger seat came out, holding an umbrella over Evelyn’s head, placing a hand on her shoulder, and smiled, "Come on, get in! Seeing a lovely young girl like you get soaked, it pains me as a passerby!"

As he spoke, the man forcibly tugged Evelyn towards the car.

"What are you doing!" Evelyn panicked, "Let go of me! Let go! Help! Help!"

She twisted her body quickly trying to escape the man’s grip, but he held her fast and she couldn’t break free no matter how she struggled.

"I’m just a kind-hearted passerby," the man squinted his eyes and smirked at Evelyn, "Don’t be scared, we’ll take you to the hospital for a check-up!"

Hearing the man’s words, Evelyn was horrified, even her fine hairs stood on end, and her body trembled heavily.

Only one thought occupied her mind: she must not get in the car, or else, she was doomed!
