Slowly Falling into His Love Trap-Chapter 184: When I’m Ready, I’ll Come See You
Evelyn Morgan sat in the living room with a troubled look, sighing more and more frequently.
She knew, actually, Caden Lockwood wouldn’t come back.
After all, the things she said to him when she was drunk were really hurtful, weren’t they!
Should she muster the courage to call him and apologize?
Anyway, it’s just saying "I’m sorry," it’s not like she’ll lose anything.
Thinking this, she finally grabbed her phone, her palms sweating, eyes full of tension, and dialed Caden Lockwood’s number. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"Hello." A voice came from the other end, Shannon Dunn’s voice.
Evelyn’s heart suddenly sank to the bottom, catching her completely off guard, her pain resonating deeply.
Instinctively pressing the hang-up button, she threw the phone onto the other sofa, as if she never made that call.
But her mind was in chaos.
Caden Lockwood was indeed... with Shannon Dunn?
She thought she was overthinking it.
Thought there must be some misunderstanding between them.
But it turned out, all the misunderstandings were just her wishful thinking.
Her amber eyes were filled with a dull darkness, the curve of her smile nowhere to be found, and her delicate face showed deep frustration.
She turned off the TV, switched off the lights, curled up on the sofa, hugging a pillow, as if hearing the sound of her own heartbeat.
Thump—
Thump—
It beat very slowly, without life, without energy...
To cope with the final exams and to get the scholarship, Evelyn spent all her time in the library reading.
She always remembered the bet she made with all her classmates, she didn’t want to lose.
Occasionally, a voice would echo in her ear: "Since you bear the title of Mrs. Lockwood, as my woman, I don’t want you to lose."
Her thoughts drifted away, she hadn’t seen Caden Lockwood for almost a week.
However, Logan Shaw was busy preparing for a concert and occasionally invited her and Cecilia Lynch out for a meal.
She didn’t know if Logan had heard her drunken confession, "The person I like is Logan."
But he never mentioned it, maybe he hadn’t arrived at that time!
Since everyone was busy, her questioning him about whether he was her older brother was also temporarily shelved.
After finishing her exams, she must confront this question and get an answer!
...
After a period of review, the two-day final exams were finally over.
Evelyn’s life gradually returned to normal, as if Caden Lockwood had never been there, if not for the few clothes he left in the villa.
After handing in her paper, she turned on her phone, receiving a message from L.
With a slight smile, she sat down under a big tree, placing the book on her lap, carefully reading the message.
"How did the exams go?" L asked.
"Not bad! Anyway, I did my best!" Evelyn replied.
"Will you get the scholarship?" L continued to ask.
Evelyn bit her lip, typing several words: "I hope so. Don’t want to embarrass myself."
She was still puzzled about L’s identity.
"Aren’t you going to tell me who you are? I don’t even know if you are a man or a woman!" Evelyn continued to ask, "It’s a bit unfair, you know!"
"When I’m ready, I will naturally come to see you." L replied quickly, "But now isn’t the time."
Evelyn shrugged.
If L didn’t want to say, she wouldn’t force him.
They would chat almost every day via text, and regardless of whether L was a man or a woman, she considered him a friend.
Moreover, he was a very wise person, and sometimes when she asked for his advice on life’s problems, he would always manage to help resolve them.
"L, there’s something I’ve been meaning to deal with, but haven’t. I think I’ll go see him after my exams." Evelyn typed out her message, "But I have conflicting thoughts, worried I might handle things terribly."
