Slowly Falling into His Love Trap-Chapter 258: Everything You Have, I Have; But What I Have, You Don’t
Listening to Eleanor’s words, Evelyn’s gaze shattered, her mind chaotic, unsure of what to say.
She thought Cecilia Lynch and Julian Keaton were in a romantic relationship and was curious why Cecilia was hiding such a joyous event.
Only now does she know that Cecilia’s reluctance to speak was because... she was Julian’s mistress?
Her heart felt like it was being peeled layer by layer in pain, Evelyn forced herself to stay calm, not wanting to break down in front of Eleanor.
She wasn’t disdainful of Cecilia’s status; she was heartbroken by the hardship Cecilia must have faced to make such a decision.
The one truly hurting is Cecilia herself!
"Women like Cecilia Lynch could never marry into The Keaton Family! She shouldn’t even think about it!" Eleanor’s tone was vicious, "You are the same! Even if you marry Brother Caden, you will definitely divorce!"
Hearing Eleanor’s prophetic words, a deep blow crossed Evelyn’s eyes.
The sun was blazing, its rays seemed to want to bake her thoroughly.
Bead-sized sweat slid down her cheeks, her pale little face weak and powerless, her beautiful big eyes filled with deep confusion, her frail body exuding too much, too much grief, grief so rich it was suffocating her.
Eleanor was quite satisfied with the effect she created, looking down at Evelyn with pride and defiance.
"What qualifies a woman like you to be with Brother Caden?" Eleanor coldly questioned, "What can you give him? What you have, I have; and what I have, you do not."
"..."
"Brother Caden is only interested because he finds you novel, but he will eventually return to the life that belongs to him," Eleanor confidently asserted, "You two come from completely different worlds; it’s impossible to be together!"
Upon hearing this, Evelyn’s legs weakened, barely holding herself upright without collapsing.
Taking a deep breath, the light in her eyes began to gather.
"Yes." Evelyn responded.
She looked at Eleanor, her eyes stubborn yet strong.
"I am poor, and I don’t have much capability, but the money I use is all earned by my own hands. I don’t feel ashamed; conversely, I’m grateful to my parents for giving me such a life, allowing me to experience the joy of hard work." Evelyn’s voice was gentle, but each word was clear.
When she spoke, her eyes were sparkling, and the composure and indifference on her face were undeniable.
"Cece is the same. If she makes money by selling her body, she wouldn’t need to struggle with multiple jobs every day." Evelyn said firmly, "She doesn’t even have a decent piece of clothing. Summer ice cream, winter hot dogs, for her, all are luxuries."
After pausing, she continued, "If Cece was selling her body, would she live such a poor life?"
"Ha!" Eleanor mocked, "Even if you defend her, you can’t change the fact that she sold her body!"
"I’m not defending, I’m just stating facts." Evelyn met Eleanor’s eyes, "Cece’s life is beyond what you can imagine. Even if she truly sold her body to your brother, there’s certainly a lot of involvement from your brother; don’t push all the responsibility onto Cece!"
After a pause, she added, "At least in my eyes, it’s your brother who’s been relentlessly pursuing Cece."
"You!"
"Also!" Evelyn spoke with great momentum, "Caden Lockwood is my husband now; you keep targeting him in front of me, which has already turned you into the other woman, and an actual other woman at that."
