Soul World Of Strong Souls-Chapter 60: THE PUNISHMENT 10
NOTE: This Chapter continues from the last one. If you didn’t read the last one, go and read it, then continue here.
The wind never stopped blowing, and the snow kept on falling, causing the cold to affect Kai, who was a hunting human, not really used to such weather conditions.
With a lot of snow on his head and back, he said, "Pheww, it’s cold; this place is in a whole different level of cold. How many negative degrees is this place anyway?" he asked himself as he glared forward, where he saw a dark shadow beyond the white.
There was a big mountain in front of the two as they approached. The Arctos was still running, and it stopped when it reached around 10 meters away from the cave that was looking black while the other places were white because of snow.
The Arctos started jogging and walked when it got in the cave. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Kai jumped off the Arctos and looked around. He scanned the place with his eyes that raced around the place. He said, "Yep, we are here. What an amazing place."
Kai started walking inside the cave. The Arctos softly growled as it watched Kai slowly moving inside. His footsteps were making a thud that echoed through the walls.
Such echoes sent shivers down the Arctos’ spine. It even hesitated to follow its owner; it, like, preferred to guide the place instead of going in.
It softly exhaled through its nose, creating a "phewww" sound that alerted Kai, who kept on moving forward instead of checking on his companion.
Suddenly, he looked behind and saw the Arctos standing, its eyes on the ground.
He had his brows furrowed as he got more surprised. He asked, "Hey, what’s wrong?"
After that question, he remembered something. He said, "Ohh, you are afraid of this place, right? Okay, let’s try something. Shadow hideout, activate." The hideout activated. It was just his shadow that was more of a portal when open.
He then pointed at his shadow that was ready to swallow the arctos. He said, "Now get inside and you’ll be protected from anything inside. If you have a debt in here, they won’t see you, so..."
The Arctos moved slowly towards Kai and stepped on his shadow, and suddenly, it went down.
He softly stretched his head and sneered. He said, "That’s good; it’s time to scout this place."
The atmosphere was thick, filled with tension; chills coiled down Kai’s spine as he moved forward. He was now like the bear that showed fear from just footsteps that echoed in there.
Every single soft step was like a big stomp as they echoed loudly around the place. Each thud made his blood race, and he felt a bit cold on his skin.
He then admitted about the simple place that was fierce. He said, "Damn, this place is scary; I can’t feel my knees with vibration."
He glared at his knees that were vibrating as if he had been thrown in a refrigerator. His body slightly trembled like a leaf on a windy day.
The cave that he got in was looking brownish on the inside. It was a big-looking place with a lot of curves as he continued to go further inside.
According to the eye, it looked like a normal cave, but feelings defied it. Chills and just fear from nowhere showed that the place was extraordinary.
He took all the curves as he got in and kept on verifying each corner for safety.
He then reached a certain place where his heart made a single punch and got his body all cold.
With all the unexplainable feelings he felt, he said, What’s up with this place? I have never felt this scared ever since I got here, and in my previous life I was just normal, and it was rare for me to get this scared. I only got scared during my mom’s accident and that war; that took my breath away," he said as he pictured the war day and then his mother.
He then said, "So now wh...?"
Suddenly, he heard a hissing sound. With just a simple turn to look around, he stepped on a backbone of an animal that was still attached with ribs. The bones made some noise and got him all jumpy since he mistakenly stepped.
He suddenly looked forward, and his right foot that stepped on the bone swung away from it while he held his breath since his heart raced. It was difficult to breathe in that situation.
After he verified that he stepped on bone, he started breathing again. He panted and continued to check the place out.
This time he was more alert not to step on other things that would give him a heart attack. He scanned the place fully and saw a lot of bones on the ground. That caused his heart to race again.
He saw a lot of bones scattered on the ground and made a conclusion, saying, "Wow, there are a lot of things that died in here. Eww, what’s that?"
Suddenly, there was a smell of something rotten. He minimized his breathing scheme and continued to go forward. Suddenly, he saw a wolf’s head on the ground that had a skin, and it was the one that was smelling so bad that Kai almost puked. Then he also saw a new wet wolf on the ground as he kept on walking forward.
He verified the wolf’s life and realized that it was new. Maybe it was killed minutes ago or less than 3 hours ago. He said, "Huh, this wolf wasn’t killed a long time ago, which means there’s something here, and why is it white while the other one was greyish? And it’s also wet. What got it...?" He suddenly paused in the middle of his sentence as he received a bit of scary tension.
Suddenly, there was another hissing sound.
Hissing, hisses
A bit puzzled, he asked, "Huh, what’s that?"
Suddenly, he widened his eyes, and fear severed in his heart.
