Soul World Of Strong Souls-Chapter 77: “.... what’s that?
The three headed to the west, their footsteps echoing on the ground, only two because the wolf’s footsteps were silent. They walked into the dark walls of the dungeon. It was clear but darker when they were far away.
When they got out of the light place, the corridors were grey-like, with lurking danger and darkness all around.
After some meters of walking, Sophia started a conversation.
She glared at Kai and hesitated. She looked down and took in a deep breath. She looked at him again and said, "Hey Kai," with her eyes that drifted away from Kai as she pretended to keep them on the road.
Kai responded while he kept his gaze on the dark walls. He said, "Yes, what is it?" He responded with a question on top. His face lacked emotions, with no fear or happiness, only his simple concentration on the road.
She hesitated to respond right after the question. She swallowed and softly cleared her throat. She then glared at Kai, who was walking on her left but a bit forward. She said, "So, as another worlder, how are you leaving here?" Kai slightly moved his head towards her with a sharp gaze.
Before they made contact, she quickly filled all the gaps that were in her words. She explained, "I mean, ahh, how are you doing, like maybe, living? How’s your living and so on?"
Kai sharply glared at Sophia and chuckled. He then took in a large capacity of air and took it out. He then said, "Ahh, it’s not bad. I’m not that old anyway, so..." He paused, getting Sophia to use her brain to know what he was trying to say.
Without taking it into consideration, she quickly asked. "Wait, what? When did you get here?" "Curiously," she asked, her ears also starved to hear his answer.
Kai slightly frowned and said, "I don’t have a week in this world!"
"The what? Are you sure?" She asked, her eyes widened as she waited for his answer.
Kai looked alive as he raised his eyes as if there was a threat in front of him. He then responded with a slight sneer on his face. "Yes, that’s how it is. I landed in the land of lost souls, and I was saved by a princess..." Before he finished, she asked:
"Princess, huh?" She asked as she looked down as if she was disappointed, but she had her left hand browsing her face, hinting that she was thinking.
Kai responded while he looked at her for a second, and then he looked forward. "Yes, her name is almost like yours."
"Princess? Where are you from?" she asked while she watched the road. Their footsteps continued to make noise every time they set foot on the. They looked alert and ready so that if they were going to be attacked, they were going to be fast to react.
Kai responded to the question about his whereabouts. He said, "Luminaris!"
"Luminaris?" She furrowed her face and continued saying, "I’ve heard of a place like that before. So the princess, is she your girlfriend?" She asked as if she were a detective, with her cute long ears spread to her sides. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Honestly and calmly, Kai responded, "Ahh, no, not really; she saved my life only, and she made me her bodyguard."
Sophia slightly gasped and asked, "Bodyguard? You don’t look like one!" she said while she smiled.
With no emotion on his face, Kai said, "Yeah, I know, just that she wanted to protect me maybe, or she didn’t want me to be a street kid."
"Ohh, you are lucky."
"Ahh, maybe, but I don’t know." Kai slightly raised his shoulders as a simple "I don’t know" sign.
Sophia thought of digging deeper. "So, what if she’s interested in you?"
"Yeah, maybe...." Before he finished, she fired another question.
"Is she beautiful?"
Kai hesitated for a second, then he said, "Yeah, she is; she’s nice and loving, even caring."
The wolf started sniffing around while it continued to walk since the two humans were moving too.
"Wow, I’m sure you are interested in....." Before she finished, the wolf stopped, and Kai asked,
"Wait, what is it, Wolfy?"
The wolf continued to sniff around, its head in the middle air, searching for the threat’s direction.
Sophia looked around in fear and said, "There’s something wrong; it’s either an enemy or something we will love!"
"If you ask me, it’s danger!" Kai added.

You’ve gained wolf poison resistance +3.5↑.
"Wolf poison resistant—how cool!" Kai cheered.
"You are?" Sophia asked while her mind raced after she heard the unbelievable.
"Yes, looks like it. Now I’m free from wolf poison!"
"Good for you!"
The wolf raced in the front, and Kai raised his eyes that were filled with anger and determination. He was ready to encounter his enemy.
"Get ready to fight!" said Kai while he increased his walking speed. The thuds on the floor determined his speed too.
Sophia had a fake smile as she responded to Kai. She said, "Don’t worry about me; I’m all good."
"That’s good; I’d love to get your sword one day too!" he said as he saw her taking it out.
"Wait, you are using those blades?" she asked, surprised and scared for him a bit.
He sharply gave Sophia a warning gaze, but he was smiling, hiding his warning behind his smile. "Silly, isn’t it?" he said while he drifted his eyes off her.
Sophia chuckled as she glared at her weapon, which was a nice long sword. Bigger than Kai’s knuckle knife.
They charged to where the wolf ran to. They followed it to the left turn, then to the right, until they found it standing in an intersection while it growled, looking at the left side.
They stopped and felt the tense atmosphere. Kai then said, "Sounds scary!"
Sophia replied with her confused gaze on the growling wolf. "Yep, I’m getting some chills!"
"Don’t catch a cold!"
"What?" Sophia asked while she glared at the smiling Kai.
"Never mind, just keep your eyes peeled," he said while he slowly walked towards the wolf.
"By the way, don’t you get hot with that jacket?" Sophia asked.
"Is that supposed to be revenge?" Kai glared at Sophia with some lack of certainty.
"No, I’m just happy that you won’t catch a cold that easily!"
"Mmh, okay, it feels like revenge!" Kai softly said with his voice that was barely above a whisper.
"What was that?" she asked.
Fastly, Kai responded, "Nothing, I’m just curious about what we are going to face next."
Suddenly, there was a scary growl that was slow but fierce. It sent shivers down their spines as they heard it. Before they even reached the light, they stopped and started to sneak to the place.
"Hey Wolfy, it’s time to get in the pocket."
