Chapter 153: Kyla

When Ainsworth had detected the familiar appearance of the assassin team hired by Caspian, it didn’t cause any ripples in his heart. After all, he had already deduced that they would target him, so he already knew their information long ago.

It merely surprised him that Caspian loved to court death this much. But even so, it wasn’t unexpected for him, as when the choice options were displayed to him before, he had already speculated that it was related to Caspian.

Aside from Caspian, he hadn’t offended anyone else as far as he remembered. If Caspian weren’t behind this incident, he would be more willing to believe his older sister Kyla had offended than him, as even he in the past didn’t offend anyone before he obtained memories of his past life.

With that being said, he didn’t care about the assassin team as they were mere ants who could easily be squashed to death by Monster Lords like Skarnax, let alone him.

Instead, what caught his attention was the beautiful older sister tied up on the chair.

’She looks like Kyla, yet there’s a sense of incongruity when looking at her, as if she weren’t Kyla. But even the senses of a Five-Star SSS-rank Awakener couldn’t see through anything wrong with her, as from what normal senses can perceive, it’s indeed not caused by a disguise or skill.’

’However, my instincts and intuition tell me that she isn’t Kyla. As her brother and family member who knows her best, I can confidently say that the Kyla in front of me is indeed her, from both a biological and spiritual perspective. Regardless, she isn’t Kyla.’

’Her DNA and her soul might be indistinguishable from hers, but as someone who has the highest attainment among SSS-rank Awakeners when it comes to consciousness, identity, and the mind, I am absolutely certain she isn’t Kyla.’

’I won’t even doubt that she has the same memories as Kyla, but her consciousness isn’t the Kyla that I have spent time with. Merely a perfect clone who lacks the essence of what makes Kyla my sister.’

As a Cult Leader and "Lord God" who owned a Hive Mind, Ainsworth was well-versed in such fields. Because of that, his instincts when it came to identifying the "identity" and "consciousness" of an existence were very acute.

Moreover, he had a lot of believers who were assimilated into his Hive Mind, increasing his Spirit attribute by a lot. With the God-Level Conqueror talent, his Spirit attribute increased a lot and became his second-highest stat, with the first being charm.

As an Awakener with an X+ Spirit attribute, his Spirit attribute had already crossed the level of a peak True God.

Even if his physical senses didn’t find anything off about the beautiful girl tied up on the chair, his spiritual perception and instinct sensed otherwise.

Shaking his head in disappointment, Ainsworth’s gaze became resolute as he decided to subdue them first and later find out what the hell was going on.

It might seem long, but even a second hasn’t passed since Ainsworth’s Blood Puppets appeared and dismantled the abandoned warehouse.

So before they could retaliate or even react, Ainsworth decided to make use of the knowledge he had acquired from all the Demon Kings he assimilated into his Hive Mind.

"Forbidden Magic: Blood Sacrifice - Cage!"

After activating the forbidden magic spell that the Demon King of Blood was infamous for, he used the cage variation of it that excelled in trapping even SSS-rank Beings if the blood quantity and quality supplemented was enough.

When it took effect, half of the Blood Puppets near the assassin team and "Kyla" suddenly burst into blood mists, splattering across the surroundings.

With the surroundings covered by the blood mists, the sacrificed blood immediately formed a cage that trapped everyone inside the dismantled abandoned warehouse.

As if that wasn’t enough, the excess blood transformed into countless blood chains that wrapped around the assassin team and "Kyla", but mostly "Kyla".

The assassin team couldn’t even put up any resistance. As soon as the blood sacrifice had occurred, just the formation of the blood cage alone had sealed their movements inside. The surrounding space was also sealed, so teleportation was out of the question.

Because of that, the blood chains binding them weren’t that many, as it was too redundant to waste them on them. Instead, "Kyla" was bound by countless blood chains with only her head exposed. The rest of her body was tightly restricted by blood chains, not leaving any gap.

Even when "Kyla" successfully subdued, Ainsworth dared not let down his guard as he remained vigilant. However, he knew that he couldn’t keep hiding, as only his main body could use the full prowess of his skills, so he revealed himself.

When "Kyla" saw Ainsworth, she wasn’t surprised and didn’t seem to care about the blood chains restricting and sealing her movement and power.

Even when the white blindfold covered her eyes, Ainsworth could feel "Kyla’s" gaze towards him, which made him frown as he knew that her sister didn’t have eyes.

Ignoring the frown on Ainsworth’s face, "Kyla" smiled, "You have grown, Ains. Father and mother will be proud."

In response, Ainsworth merely scoffed, "Heh, no need to act intimate with me. You aren’t my sister, and only she can call me that."

"I admit, whether it’s the physical body or the soul, they are all identical to my sister. However, you can’t fool me as you aren’t truly her."

Materializing a kitchen knife, Ainsworth pointed it towards her as he threatened using Freedom of Speech, "If you tell me where my sister Kyla is, I’ll let you die a painless and quick death."

Ainsworth even fully unleashed his God-Level Charm talent, no longer suppressing his charm in order to increase the persuasiveness of Freedom of Speech (SSS).

As he had expected, even "Kyla" couldn’t resist his charm and speech, yet he felt something was off.

"Kyla’s" eyes showed admiration of his appearance, yet held no lust, like an older sister admiring her younger brother.

She remained unfazed by his threat as she chuckled, "You truly have grown. Whether it’s your power or even your charm, your little sweetheart Elyndra won’t be able to resist you now."

"However, it’s a pity that things aren’t as they seemed on the surface. You’re not wrong that I’m not Kyla, but you aren’t correct either. I never claimed that I’m your sister, as I’m merely the clone she left behind."

Pausing for a while to let Ainsworth digest what she said, "Kyla" continued, "I only left behind this clone to protect you, but now, it has already served its purpose. It’s even earlier than I calculated."

"You have already become a Demigod, and I don’t even need to guide you, as you have already discovered your Path. However, never remain conceited."

"What you believed to be true might be false, and all those lies might even be greater lies."

Feeling that she had already said enough, "Kyla", who had already served her "purpose", no longer lingered in this world as her body started to crumble.

The breath of Death emanated from her, but instead of causing the death of those things around her, she used it to cause her own death.

Crack lines appeared on her face and body, and the breath of death seeped out from it.

Noticing Kyla’s intentions, Ainsworth didn’t stop her. Or rather, he knew he couldn’t.

He had already estimated that the Death concept used by Kyla was greater than his Freedom’s conceptual authority.

Naturally, he couldn’t override her authority, and it was also the reason why she could even use her Death concept despite being sealed and restricted by the Forbidden Magic: Blood Sacrifice - Cage.

’If I were to use Override: Ultimate Freedom, there’s still a possibility that I can override her Death concept and temporarily supersede her conceptual authority.’

’But, I don’t have to. I already know what she wants to say, and this time, I admit I was indeed wrong. No wonder she reminded me not to remain conceited.’

With his intelligence, he already picked up on the clues Kyla had hidden in her message. Because of that, he had determined that things weren’t really as they seemed.

Having already discovered a lot of things just from her words, Ainsworth looked at Kyla, whose body was nearing death, as he grinned at her, "Sis, thanks for the mango cake!"

Hearing Ainsworth’s words, Kyla was stunned for a while as she hadn’t expected Ainsworth to comprehend what she revealed this fast.

In the end, Kyla smiled and spoke her last words, "Welcome! I won’t forget the cooking lessons you taught me. The next time we meet, I won’t burn the food like I did before."

As soon as she uttered the word "before", her body completely crumbled, dissipating into dust which was carried by the wind.

Before Ainsworth could collect her "remains", the dust carried by the wind died as well, leaving nothing behind.

With the death of his sister Kyla’s clone, Ainsworth became melancholic as he stood in place for a while to digest what had just happened.

After several minutes had passed, he regained his composure as he muttered, "I’ve decided. To alleviate my sadness and improve my mood, I’ll kill Caspian and slaughter his family. That way, I can finally kill that annoying cockroach and at the same time, vent my frustrations through killing."
