Chapter 12 - Another World (III)

A few days after fighting the Goblin Elite, his exploration had progressed considerably. After acquiring some useful skills along the way, he no longer needed to mark his way back home. In addition to these new skills, battling new monsters also improved his level and combat abilities. He cashed in the items he obtained and earned a good amount of money.

And so, here is his current status:

[Name: Shinji Motohama]

[Age: 17]

[Race: Human (100%)]

[Title:]

● [One Who Has Crossed Between Worlds]

● [Gate Master]

● [House Master]

● [Otherworldly Resident]

[Occupation:] [None]

[Level:] 200

[Stats:]

● Magic: 5,300

● Strength: 8,500

● Constitution: 9,700

● Agility: 8,500

● Intelligence: 5,300

● Luck: 9,200

● BP: 50

[Skills:]

He had grown more than expected, experiencing severe pain while sleeping, but he had recently gotten used to it—or rather, the intense pain and noises had disappeared. He assumed his body's transformation was now complete, meaning there was no further restructuring. However, his physical strength was still increasing, so his growth likely hadn't stopped entirely. Well, he didn't really care. As long as it didn't hurt anymore, he was happy.

These are the effects of his new skills:

● [Map]: Displays a map of places he has visited at least once.

● [Evasion]: Makes it easier to avoid enemy attacks.

● [Weakness Detection]: Identifies an opponent's weak points.

● [Stealth]: Allows him to blend with nature, erasing his presence and magical signature.

All of them were incredibly useful skills. Thanks to [Map], exploration had become much easier. [Evasion] helped him predict enemy attacks, while [Weakness Detection] revealed critical points to deal massive damage. [Stealth] was invaluable for hiding while analyzing monsters' stats. He had mastered these skills in a short time.

For someone with no prior combat experience, these skills were a game-changer. Thanks to them, he had been able to fight on the front lines recently. On top of that, the items he obtained from battles were worth a total of 10 million yen, converted through [Money Conversion] and stored in his [Item Box]. He was planning to buy a new PC and indulge in some small luxuries.

Currently, he held the [Absolute Spear] in his hand, but over the past few days, he had fought using other weapons and even barehanded. The reason he stuck with the spear was simple—it suited him best. Though he also frequently used [Omni-Sword].

He wandered through the forest for a while, but no significant monsters appeared. However, he collected some unusual mushrooms and nuts along the way, tossing them into his [Item Box]. Occasionally, he would cash them in, and depending on their effects, he would eat them at home. Since he could choose what to take back, he was also able to bring things to Earth.

In a way, these different worlds were his personal food storage.

By the way, he had tried eating the [High-Grade Pork] he obtained from defeating a bipedal pig-like monster called [Elite Orc], and it was delicious. According to [Appraisal], there was no issue with eating it. So, monster drops also served as both food and financial resources. He was relieved that he no longer needed to go grocery shopping. After all, he didn't want to waste time going out and risk attracting the attention of annoying troublemakers.

Then, while walking through the forest and gathering materials, he heard violent noises.

"What's that?"

Surprised by the loud sounds and impact, he cautiously moved in that direction.

"Huh!?"

What came into view was a monster—far more prominent than the Goblin Elite—covered in blood. Upon closer inspection, chunks of flesh were scattered around it. He quickly used [Appraisal] on the goblin.

[Goblin General]

● [Race:] Goblin

● [Level:] 200

● [Magic:] 1,000

● [Attack:] 9,000

● [Defense:] 3,000

● [Agility:] 500

● [Intelligence:] 500

● [Luck:] 100

● [Weaknesses:] Heart, Head

It seemed to be the leader after the Elite Goblins. A monster he hadn't encountered before.

Overall, its stats were better balanced than his, but its attack power was dangerously high.

He wasn't sure what had caused it to go berserk, but he decided it was best to observe for now. He wanted to fight stronger monsters to gain more combat experience.

So, he decided to quietly leave.

But—

"What!?"

He saw a girl around his age sitting in the direction of the Goblin General.

She wore a dress that looked high-quality. He wasn't sure why she was in the forest, but regardless, she was the first person he had met in this world.

He should have been happy.

But not in this situation.

As the Goblin General raised its sword—

He threw the [Absolute Spear] in his hand.

"Daaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

"Gugyaa!?"

The Goblin General noticed it instantly and blocked it with the sword it had been swinging at incredible speed.

Seizing the opportunity, Shinji sprinted at full speed—

Putting all his weight into his leg—

And leaped toward the Goblin General's sword.

"Doryaa!"

"Guoo!?"

The Goblin General was sent flying by Shinji's full-speed strike. After landing, he quickly approached the girl while retrieving the [Absolute Spear], which returned to his hand.

"Are you okay?"

The moment he called out to her, she looked at him, seemingly surprised, before collapsing as if her strings had been cut.

"Hey, hey, hey!"

Was she dead!? He panicked for a moment, but after checking again, he saw that she was still breathing—she had just fainted. While relieved, he suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of intimidation. He quickly turned his gaze in that direction.

The Goblin General was glaring at him in fury.

Tightening his grip on the [Absolute Spear], he faced off against the monster. Their weapons were raised, both searching for an opening. However, from his perspective, there seemed to be no gaps in the Goblin General's defense. It was also clear that the creature wasn't offering any openings, and neither of them knew how to initiate an attack.

The Goblin General roared. Finally losing its patience, it stomped the ground with such force that the earth cracked and swung its massive sword in a sweeping arc.

The moment Shinji saw the attack, his instincts screamed that it was impossible to block. Without hesitation, he grabbed the unconscious girl and leaped backward, putting as much distance between them as possible.

After placing her gently on the ground, he immediately charged at the Goblin General again.

"Haaaa!"

"Gaaaa!"

However, the Goblin General effortlessly blocked his attack. Then, reacting instantly, it swung its sword with enough force to erase Shinji from existence.

"Gahh!?"

The sheer power sent him flying. But just before he crashed into the trees, he managed to adjust his posture midair and landed on one of the trunks.

"That was way too close..."

Cold sweat dripped down his body as he felt the overwhelming power of the Goblin General.

Its attack power was absurdly high—if he fought it head-on, he would definitely lose. The only way to win was to land a surprise strike somehow. Fortunately, his stats were superior in every aspect except for attack power. He had to take advantage of that, as well as his weapon.

Without wasting a moment, he used the tree as a foothold and charged back toward the Goblin General.

The monster swung its massive sword the moment Shinji got close, much like a batter aiming for a home run. If he took that hit, he would die for sure.

At the last possible second, just before impact, he threw his [Absolute Spear] into the ground.

"Gaaaaa!?"

The Goblin General's sword sliced through thin air as Shinji abruptly stopped his momentum. Using the spear like a pole vault, he launched himself high into the air.

As he soared past the Goblin General, he pulled out the [Shapeless Bow] from his [Item Box] and fired multiple invisible arrows.

However, sensing the attack, the Goblin General swung its massive sword through the air, deflecting the arrows.

But in that brief moment, Shinji had already landed on another tree. Without missing a beat, he hurled the [Absolute Spear], which had just returned to his hand, straight at the Goblin General.

"Gu-Guguga!?"

Even in an awkward position, the Goblin General managed to block the attack.

But that wasn't the end.

At the exact moment he threw the spear, Shinji launched himself at the Goblin General from the tree, now wielding the [Absolute Sword] in his right hand.

"Gaaaaa!?"

The Goblin General, realizing the danger at the last moment, desperately tried to defend itself.

"Too late..."

A scream of agony erupted from the monster.

With all the momentum from his aerial assault, Shinji slashed clean through the Goblin General's body, cutting it in half. The monster collapsed slowly before disintegrating into particles of light.

After confirming its defeat, he turned his gaze toward the unconscious girl.

"What should I do with her...?"

As he stood there, confused about the situation, a message appeared before his eyes.

[You have leveled up.]

For now, he quickly collected the Goblin General's dropped items before approaching the girl.

She was wearing high-quality clothing—far too elegant for a place like this. It was also the first time he had seen such pure, refined garments.

As he pondered what to do, he suddenly sensed someone approaching.

"─ Ma! ── Lexia-sama!"

He could hear human voices coming closer.

"Lexia-sama... is this girl?"

Thinking about it, he looked around for a moment and realized something.

The scene around him was incredibly gruesome—blood splattered everywhere, chunks of flesh scattered across the ground...

If the people searching for this girl found him standing in the middle of this carnage—

There was no doubt.

This was going to be one hell of a misunderstanding.

"...Should I hide?"

He quickly concealed himself in the nearby bushes and activated his [Stealth] skill.

The moment he did, several sword-wielding soldiers appeared. While all of them wore similar armor, a middle-aged man with a black cape draped over his armor stood speechless as he took in the scene before him.

"T-This is...!"

Yeah... it was definitely the right decision not to meet these people in the middle of this massacre.

The soldiers, who had been searching the area, finally noticed the unconscious girl lying at the base of a nearby tree.

"L-Lexia-sama!"

They rushed toward her, checking her condition. One of the soldiers murmured something, then a faint white light emanated from his right hand as he applied it to the girl's body.

As Shinji watched in excitement—witnessing magic for the first time—the soldiers collectively let out a deep sigh of relief.

"I've used recovery magic—her wounds are healed. It seems she only fainted."

"Haaahh... I'm so relieved that it was just a minor injury..."

After confirming that she was safe, the soldiers carefully lifted her and stood up, remaining alert to their surroundings.

"...I'm curious about what happened here, but lingering too long isn't a good idea. Let's head back for now."

"Yes!"

All of them responded in unison to the middle-aged knight's command before quickly leaving the area.

Once they were out of sight, Shinji let out a deep breath.

"Whew... I wasn't sure what to do at first, but I'm glad it all worked out safely..."

He was still a bit confused, but this had been his first encounter with people from another world...

...Even if he hadn't actually spoken to them.
