Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic-Chapter 1041: The 4th Form
Chapter 1041: Chapter 1041: The 4th Form
The darkness isn’t silent. Besides the temptation of the demon, the sound of Church Ring Sorcerers fighting within the black mist is becoming clearer, representing the church about to break through the demon’s black mist.
"I suppose you don’t need to show that you’re a master of Illusion Technique. My friends are about to break through the angel’s obstruction, and the High Ring Sorcerers of the True God Church are about to crush your defenses. Why not appear before me now, and let’s have a one-on-one duel."
Shard called out loudly in the darkness, pacing in place and constantly shattering the rotting hands reaching out from the dark. Suddenly, a humming sound appeared in front of him, and when he looked up, a gray stone wall embedded with countless wailing souls crashed towards him, but was still shattered by the "Moonlight Slash" swung by the Night Watchman.
"If you don’t care about those phantoms, do you care about those truths?"
Two new figures appeared in the thick black mist; Princess Lecia and Princess Margaret, who should have been sitting in the audience, bewilderingly brought in front of Shard by the demon:
"Lucky you, I didn’t expect your two companions to be here today! Oh, and this soul is..."
A pitch-black hand hovered above the princesses. As they saw the glowing man with a sword standing in the darkness, the malicious voice asked:
"I can’t exploit your desire, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have desires. Drop your sword, or your princesses will meet their untimely demise."
"How dare you?"
The instant surge of anger, like a barrel of gunpowder ignited by a spark, reached the level of wrath. Shard took a deep breath, suppressing the abnormal anger, and tossed the Night Watchman to his left:
"A demon is a demon, no matter how many eras have passed, you never change."
Lecia didn’t expect to see a demon here. She seemed to want to say something to Shard but only opened her mouth without being able to make a sound. Princess Margaret looked bewildered at everything in front of her, then watched Shard gaze at them.
The boundless darkness pressed above the princesses’ heads, and as the Night Watchman disappeared from Shard’s hand, the hovering hand suddenly pressed down towards the princesses.
"Has the demon finally appeared?"
Princess Margaret immediately took out the black fabric band made by Dr. Schneider, simultaneously seeing Lecia throwing a punch upwards. Her fist adorned with the Demon Hunting Seal touched the demon, while the black band emitted a corrosive black light. After a muffled howl, the demon’s giant hand disappeared once more into the black mist.
"Are you a Ring Sorcerer too?"
The princess with pale golden long hair looked at Lecia in surprise, but by then Shard’s voice had already come:
"Your Highnesses, be careful! Moonlight Slash!"
By using Lagre’s Leap, appearing directly between the princesses, Shard swung a moonlight slash towards the top. That moonlight illuminated the high darkness, lighting up countless black hands pressing down:
"Get down!"
He told the princesses, activating the spell "Power of the Red Dragon" to enhance his hands using the Spirit Rune of Power, he pushed upwards, and with a muffled grunt, he clenched his mouth shut to withstand the demon’s giant hand continuously pressing.
Princess Margaret was pulled down by Lecia to crouch, preventing the demon’s hand from touching them. She also saw that the unfamiliar man with the human physique forcibly holding off the demon’s giant hand, and moreover, saw the unusual expression of concern on Lecia Cavendish’s face.
Lecia bit her lip, looking at Shard so close, controlling the impulse to call his name. Margaret Anjou looked at that unfamiliar man’s face; she had a strange feeling that this man who protected her was definitely not the first time he protected her like this.
Without any reason, she suddenly thought of another handsome face:
"But what is the relationship between Princess Lecia Cavendish and him?"
At this moment, Shard was almost unable to hold on; his body was gradually bending, and the intense pain in his arms was signaling that he must let go immediately. No matter how great his strength was, he could never compete with the strength of ancient fiends:
"You all go first..."
But instead of help from the two princesses, what came first was a sunlit gun that pierced through the giant arm. Amid Iluna’s voice, the Night Watchman, wrapped within the "Sunlight Gun," pierced through the demon’s arm, and the radiance of thunder finally illuminated the dreadful and twisted position of the demon’s form in the darkness.
Pitch-black chains flew out from Shard’s sleeve, wrapping the airborne Night Watchman back into his hand.
Both hands holding the longsword, raising the sword aimed forward:
"Sunlight Ray!"
The terrifying golden light cannon pierced through the thick darkness in front of him, forcing the demon hiding in the darkness to dodge, in order to avoid being pierced by this anger-infused attack that held positive energy. But it still grazed the demon’s form at the edge, and curses and demonic language came from all directions.
Though Shard’s attack once again didn’t heavily injure the demon, it punctured the black mist’s edge, lighting up the small terrace on the side of the stage with moonlight; the terrace overlooked Tobesk City, now covered in falling snow.
"Just a few more minutes, the church will be here soon."
Iluna hurried over to tell the princesses, throwing the golden thunder spear from her hands once again. Regardless of whether this strike would be effective, the golden scales hovering above spread radiant light, the black mist slowly receding with her at its center.
"Shard, do you have a way to severely injure it again? It’s regenerating too quickly."
Shard stood in front of the young women, Iluna quietly asked:
"One has to strike its form in an instant, to temporarily stop this thing from regenerating."
Knowing that Shard and the witch had received the "defeat the demon" test from the Prankster Boy, Iluna had looked up the information on this demon in advance.
"A powerful attack in an instant... I can try it, there shouldn’t be any problems."
Shard turned around and nodded, the seventeen-year-old girl smiled and said:
"I knew you’d have a way."
While Shard turned around, Lecia’s gaze met his briefly, and Shard could feel the intense emotions contained within her eyes.
This gaze further ignited his inner fury. Earlier, when the demon threatened Lecia, the intense emotions that surged through him made him feel as if he would explode with wrath, and he once again sensed them.
He didn’t suppress his wrath, instead, he let the emotions completely ignite himself:
"I’ve never agreed with using emotions to control my power, but this time, you’ve gone too far!"
Taking a deep breath, he snapped his fingers lightly.
"Huh? How is it snowing indoors?"
As Princess Margaret looked in surprise at the snowflakes falling around them, a phantom silver moon and even more phantom star traces appeared above the four people’s heads.
Shard, at Four Rings, still couldn’t fully use Maze Lock: Little Match Girl, but calling forth the remnants of Snowfall and Starry Sky was no problem.
The faint moonlight, like a spotlight, cast its glimmer onto Shard. He took a deep breath, recalling the technique he had learned from Mr. Benhart (Chapter 870):
"Moonlight Slash, I’ve developed three forms so far. At First Ring, the palm slashes out an arc light; at Second Ring, it draws a Moonlight Cross in the air and then collides; at Three Rings, both hands overlap to draw a Light Blade... This basic Arcane Technique has almost been developed into all possible forms by me. Now at Four Rings, the final form change of Moonlight Slash, this is the last change of this basic Sorcery. At Inner Ring, I should look for more powerful Arcane Techniques." frёewebηovel.cѳm
He clenched both fists and raised them high to the left and right, bathing in moonlight, arms gathered back, maintaining the crossed fist pose before his chest:
"Moonlight—"
Under that moonlight, the wrathful emotions made the spirit within him unusually active, and the faint moonlight emitting from his body seemed to truly melt him into the glimmer at that moment:
"—Slash!"
Accompanied by the final low shout, with the fury, Shard transformed into a dazzling holy silver arc light rushing forward.
This strike penetrated through all darkness, leaving a coherent and terrifying afterimage in the air. Iluna smiled, she knew Shard would be fine; Lecia bit her lip, with a faint smile on her face, she liked watching Shard display his power; Princess Margaret looked suspiciously at the current scene, now almost certain that it was indeed Shard Hamilton, though unsure of his relation with Princess Lecia.
"Still, he is indeed strong... but probably not as strong as the teacher."
The tall figure hidden in darkness was penetrated by the silver arc light that Shard transformed into. When Shard stopped, gasping for breath, he finally understood why Mr. Benhart said this move consumed a lot, as the giant demon’s figure in the stage of black mist became blurred, even the musicians’ playing became unstable.
It still wanted to reach out and counterattack, because Shard really consumed too much right now.
But it had no chance, Dr. Schneider’s figure crossed the darkness and finally appeared beside Shard. The doctor’s right hand extended, a thick arm made of human pus like a black tree easily blocked the evil fiend’s strike. Then, the pus belonging to Human Pus swept over the giant demon’s whole body, instantly engulfing it.
"You’re quite slow."
Shard supported himself, gasping heavily.
"Oh, you think that thing on the rooftop was easy to deal with?"
The doctor didn’t look well either, half the mask on his face was broken, and the obvious scratch on his chest almost pierced his heart:
"What was that move where you embodied moonlight? It was amazing."
He couldn’t help but praise.
"We’ll talk about it after this matter is over... Did you manage to contain that thing again?"
Shard was asking about the Weeping Angel, but the doctor shook his head:
"It’s not that easy, it’s a Sage-Level Relic. I’ve temporarily trapped it using a mirror to make it look at itself."
Iluna, although not knowing the doctor, seeing Shard talking to him knew he wasn’t an enemy.
Meanwhile, from the giant black pus entangled by the doctor’s right hand, a figure suddenly sprang out, Victor Fanny, in human form, landed on the ground, weakly supporting himself against the wall, standing on the little balcony illuminated by moonlight.
"Tsk, able to escape indeed."
The doctor snorted, his right hand completely consumed the demon’s shell, and with Shard, looked toward the true essence of the demon, which revealed itself like a nested doll, its core seemingly always hidden within layers of outer shells.
