Chapter 1335: Rain of Aging

“Let’s go.”

Ye Qing shook his head. He was a soft-hearted man who could not bear to see something gruesome. It would be better if he averted his eyes.

“Hmm? It’s... raining...”

Ye Qing was just about to leave when rainwater began pouring from the sky.

Papersmith clicked his tongue. “It’s these people’s lucky day. This rain could not have arrived any sooner.”

This sudden rain was exactly what the victims needed to cure themselves of the Itch Mist. Otherwise, it wasn’t impossible for some of them to scratch themselves to death.

“I don’t think so.” Ye Qing had a different opinion though. “Something’s wrong with this rain.”

He waved his hand and dispelled the rain around him.

“Ah... it feels so good...”

“Haha! I’m saved!”

“It’s so good...”

After the rain fell, the people suffering from contact with the Itch Mist immediately felt much better. The itchiness tormenting them were slowly disappearing as well. It was as if they had gained a new lease of life.

“Senior, look!”

But just a short while later, Yang Bo suddenly cried out in shock. It was unnecessary. Ye Qing could see clearly that everyone basking in the rain had gained a couple of wrinkles and white hair before they knew it. Their backs were also more crooked than before almost as if they had aged years in just the span of a few breaths.

“The Rain of Aging! It’s the Rain of Aging!”

“We need to find a shelter now!”

“Quick!”

It was at this moment the victims finally noticed that something was amiss. Paling, they tried to block the rain with their astral qi only to find that it was completely useless. The rainwater had gone right through their astral qi as if it didn’t exist.

As time passed, the victims gained more and more wrinkles. Their hair was turning white at a visible rate as well.

The smart ones had already rushed into the nearest buildings. Yes, those buildings might be filled with fire and ice. Spikes covered the ground, and nails adorned the walls. There was no doubt that they would suffer a tremendous amount of pain if they went inside. But so what? What did a bit of pain matter compared to death?

“It’s the Rain of Aging, senior, one of the worst natural disasters of Void Stomach City! We should—”

Yang Bo subconsciously wanted to run as well, but he did not manage to finish his sentence before he realized something and stopped talking.

It was because he realized that he couldn’t feel the Rain of Aging falling on his head. When he looked up, he realized that the rain had automatically slid away from them when it was one meter away from their heads. It was almost as if an invisible umbrella was protecting them.

“What...”

Yang Bo was stunned. He hadn’t come to Void Stomach City long enough to witness the Rain of Aging until today, but even hearsay was enough to paint a horrifying picture.

The Rain of Aging, the Bloody Wind, the Hail of Taint, and the Black Snow were known as the Four Great Natural Disasters of Void Stomach City. Countless lives were lost whenever they appeared.

The Bloody Wind was a wind with a bright red color like blood. When the Bloody Wind blew, nothing could stop it, and everything it touched rotted into nothing. Flesh, blood, bones. Nothing was spared from its wrath.

The Hail of Taint was, as its name implied, a hailstorm of taint. Just being in the area would increase a victim’s corruption and mutate their physical body. If they did not escape quickly, they would eventually transform into murderous monsters who only knew slaughter. The mindless slaughter would not end until the Hail of Taint had stopped.

And finally, the Black Snow was a black snowstorm that stole all light and warmth from the world. It froze the world, stole all life, and tattered all things.

When Yang Bo first arrived at Void Stomach City, he happened to encounter the Hail of Taint. The natural disaster had transformed everyone in the city into mindless monsters who only knew to kill, kill more, and kill some more. In just an incense stick, the entire city had been transformed into a city of blood and corpses. The blood flowed like rivers, and corpses clogged up the streets.

The silver lining was that the Hail of Taint only lasted an hour or so. Another hour, and everyone in the city would have died.

Yang Bo had survived only because he was hiding under a pile of bodies.

He had never seen the Rain of Aging before, but he had heard that it was a natural disaster on par with the Bloody Wind, Hail of Taint, and Black Snow. Possessing the power of time, the Rain of Aging infected and aged anyone who made contact with it. Given enough exposure, the victims’ physical bodies would decay, their black hair would turn white, and their rosy complexion would turn into stark white bones.

“A rainfall is like an autumn, an hour is like a lifetime.” That was how the name “Rain of Aging” came to be.

The Rain of Aging eroded anything and everything. Forget astral qi, even the unusual houses of the Void Stomach City could not resist its aging effects for long.

That was why taking shelter inside a house wasn’t a permanent solution either. Assuming that the Rain of Aging lasted longer than expected, it was entirely possible for the roof to fall on top of their heads and kill them. Therefore, taking shelter was just a temporary measure that postponed their deaths just a little further.

Of course, taking shelter might kill them, but not taking shelter would definitely kill them.

This was why the Rain of Aging was so terrifying, and why the only thing the people of Void Stomach City could do was pray that it would rain smaller and end sooner. Other than that, there was literally nothing else they could do.

However, a miracle was happening before the three-eyed man’s eyes. For the first time in his life, he saw a man who not only wasn’t afraid of the Rain of Aging’s erosion, he was blocking it as well. How could he not be astonished?

“No need to panic. It’s just the Rain of Aging.”

It was at this moment Ye Qing’s voice entered Yang Bo’s ears. It sounded like it did not think much of the Rain of Aging that terrified everyone at all.

Then again, Yang Bo realized it wasn’t as illogical as it seemed. Ye Qing was the man who did not fear even the restriction and yin fire blocking the city entrance. Therefore, it didn’t seem too far-fetched that he would be immune to the Rain of Aging as well.

Slowly, the Rain of Aging grew stronger. What was a drizzle had turned into a downpour.

It needed not be said, but the Rain of Aging was stronger like this. Some people failed to duck into a building in time and so aged into a pile of bones in just a matter of seconds. A couple more seconds later, even those bones had dissolved into dust and become washed away by the rainwater. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

“Let me in! There’s still some space inside, isn’t it? Let me in!!!”

“Open the door, you bastard!”

“Open the door, or I’ll kill you!”

“If you won’t let me in, then we can all die together!”

There were only so many houses on both sides of the street, and so much space. It wasn’t long before they were jam-packed with bodies. Not only that, some of the buildings could not resist the erosion and collapsed unto itself, so those taking shelter could only look for another shelter. It wasn’t long before the people inside and outside the building fought a war against each other.

There were even some extremists who, upon realizing that there was nowhere they could go, attacked the houses directly in an attempt to take everyone to the grave with him.

The houses were originally tough and unbreakable. But now, they seemed almost as fragile as tofu. One touch was all it took to topple it over. Naturally, this caused even bigger chaos and fighting.

For a time, the sounds of the storm, swearing, killing, screaming, wailing and more filled the air. It made Void Stomach City seem even more hellish than it already was.

“Look! Those people aren’t afraid of the Rain of Aging!”

“They must know a way to resist it!”

Finally, someone noticed Ye Qing, Papersmith, and Yang Bo.

It was hard not to. After all, everyone was busy murdering each other and fighting over the dwindling number of shelters, and the trio were the only ones who did not move like they were the prettiest dawgs on the entire street.
