STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 768: Rare Sight (Anteater)
5th Zone, the Wilderness,
After a thorough search, he failed to find any clues. Jeremy then decided to go deeper. He quickly left the place.
A few minutes later,
He found a green mound. Seeing it, he climbed the mound and started observing the surroundings from the top.
His eyes caught something. He saw people following him from a distance.
He suspected they were members of Darkshade, because they seemed to be coming from the direction of the main city gate.
"Who are these people?" Jeremy asked himself.
He decided to observe them while maintaining a gap, so he left the mound and headed in a random direction.
He had come to the wilderness to confront the Darkshade members, so he didn’t mind wasting time here.
On the other hand, Jeffery’s men had arrived at the previous spot. They were now looking at the gruesome sight.
The mutilated corpses of hybrid beasts were everywhere. They soon found the corpse of the unknown Beast Tamer.
They didn’t know the person, but they understood that the Beast Tamer could have died due to the Beast Tide.
At the same time, a few people followed them from behind; they were sent by Elder Stephen.
They had lost sight of Jeremy Night and were now following the group ahead of them.
Meanwhile, Jeffery and his team members had gotten close to their destination. Jeffery contacted his men, but he was disappointed the next moment.
His men had lost sight of Jeremy Night. Now that the target had moved into the inner area, they were of no use to him.
He told them to go back and that he would take care of the rest. He just needed their current location. He decided to locate the target from there.
On the other hand, the group ended the call and started heading back. They didn’t know that someone was watching their actions.
That person was none other than Jeremy Night. He suspected they could be Darkshade members.
Seeing them go back, he changed his mind. Not only that, he found one more group in the distance.
That group acted even more strangely; they started retreating after seeing the first group.
He understood that something was going on, but he didn’t know what it was. He could have captured one of them to find the answer, but he chose not to.
He watched them leave. Once they were gone from his sight, Jeremy fell into contemplation. He decided to stay here for a while.
If he didn’t see the Darkshade members, he would go to their hideout. He thought their old hideout was still active and that he could find them there.
Post noon,
Jeremy started his journey to the hideout. He was using his eye power to avoid danger. He knew the risk of going there.
Last time, he had come across insect-type beasts. Dangerous insect beasts like those lived in the unexplored regions. Their hideout was located exactly on the border.
On the other hand, Jeffery and his team reached the location, but they didn’t find Jeremy Night on their way.
The inner part of the wilderness stretched across endlessly; it would take days to search the entire land.
Jeffery and the others believed the target had entered the wilderness for a mission and would definitely come back.
So, they decided to search this perimeter. They believed the target would be caught soon, as they had the help of Lifeline beasts. Jeffery’s Tier-6 Lifeline beast would help him out in this mission.
Time passed,
Both teams returned to the city. Jeffery’s men went to their hideout, while the team sent by Stephen returned to the organization to report to him.
That evening,
Jeremy Night moved closer to the hideout. By using his eye power, he avoided trouble. Though he could avoid the dangers on the land, there were troubles hidden beneath the ground.
Boom!
Just as he was approaching the place, the area before him broke apart all of a sudden. The ground cracked, and a huge beast rushed out from the fissure.
Boom!
It was a beast over 5 meters tall. Jeremy was surprised. He raised his head and saw the beast. It was a new one; he hadn’t seen this beast before in the wilderness, but he had read about it in a book. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Anteater," Jeremy uttered.
When he finally recognized the beast, he was shocked. This type of ground beast was rare; it was a Tier-6 Beast.
What’s more, the eyes of the beast were normal, they were not red in color. The beast was acting normally.
It didn’t attack the human Beast Tamer. The Anteater took a few steps forward and gave a final look at the Beast Tamer before disappearing into the ground.
Crack!
The ground cracked again as the Anteater left the area. Jeremy Night stood rooted to the spot until the beast was gone.
He didn’t move for several minutes as he gathered his thoughts. He realized that the beast was not a corrupted beast; it was a regular beast.
Regular beasts’ cubs are used for contracts. If he captured the beast and sold it to the Association, he would gain huge rewards. The price of a regular beast is much higher than that of a corrupted beast.
However, this wild Anteater was not easy to catch since it moved beneath the ground. Jeremy decided to let it go. He had come here to find the Darkshade members.
He resumed his journey toward the hideout and reached the destination a few hours later. His gaze then fell on the building.
The hideout seemed quiet, and no one was standing outside.
Jeremy found a good vantage point to watch from. With his eye power, he could survey the hideout and see anyone coming or going.
He knew what was hidden inside. He knew the criminals conducted illegal trading, so the hideout could still be active.
It was nighttime, and Jeremy decided to stay awake all night. He wanted to catch at least one of them to find out the truth.
