Chapter 92: Artillery Strike

Gong! Go-Go-GonnG! 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Standing on the deck of Central Peak Battleship, Bnapbnap frowned upon hearing the horn sounded by the Whispering Winds Battleship from the front. ’The path forward’s been blocked?’

The end of the Kappeet Channel where it fed into the Dralh Sea seemed to have been blocked. Based on the message sent by the horns, something resembling a hill had appeared in the junction, resulting in flooding of the neighbouring region.

The Kappeet Channel’s mouth stretched a breadth of 210 metres at the mouth, where four hills had appeared, blocking the path forward. Each hill reached a height of 90 metres and occupied the entirety of the mouth’s area.

They had blockaded the place.

Bnapbnap jumped to the edge of his battleship’s deck and peered into the Kappeet channel’s water flow, ’The disruption in the channel’s water flow is still turbulent.’

He observed the affected sediment layer, watched the rate of flow of the channel water, and peered in the direction of the fur hills, ’It has recently been added then.’

Goooongg!

"I see," Bnapbnap nodded in understanding at the horn and eyed the figure of Raurau that had rushed to the deck, "We have enemies ahead."

"Rockatrices, four of them at that." He eyed Raurau, "Can you handle them?"

"Give me a couple minutes," Raurau saluted and whistled aloud. A team of twenty Silver Grade Cooter Clansmen glided across the deck and gathered behind him. A quick summary later, they jumped into the channel water.

Swoosh!

Right as their operation had begun, Bnapbnap felt his skin prickle and hurriedly condensed a shield of water, watching a projectile slam into it and dent the shield. ’That’s a lot of force!’

The projectile reached a metre in length, resembling a spike with jagged teeth running helically across its shaft. It released a pungent stench and caused the contact surface–the floor of the deck–to emit smoke.

The substance secreted by the spike was steadily melting through the deck.

Bnapbnap quickly turned to face the direction the projectile came from and shouted in alarm, "Centingers!"

Without hesitation, arcs of lightning covered his body as he jumped out of the Battleship and rushed towards the Pranic Beast in question.

Expert Silver Grade Pranic Beast–Centinger!

With a Prana capacity of 3288 and a lifespan of 590 years, the Centinger was one of the strongest Silver Grade Pranic Beast races to exist on Sumatra.

With a lower body resembling a frog that was covered by a turtle shell, it had a tail resembling a fish, giving it underwater movement capabilities. Its frog legs allowed it to leap large distances while on land.

And to hunt prey, it grew a neck resembling a centipede with serrated edges for the centipede legs. The head resembled a centipede’s, but was twice the body’s girth. The blades running alongside its neck secreted a toxic substance capable of melting through things, especially effective against bones of the living.

If it ever comes across prey, it would lash its neck and cut them into pieces. A powerful physique in terms of defence, jumping ability, and the reach of its neck made it terrifying to face in close combat. Its true power was something else entirely.

Primary Nature–Bone Melting Artillery!

All the blades growing in the sides of its neck would be launched by a burst of psychokinesis and bombard a targeted area. These blades numbered in the hundreds and became part of its artillery strike.

Every artillery strike consumes 220 units of Prana. This was only in terms of the psychokinesis consumption. Once launched, Prana will be consumed to regenerate the shot blades along the neck.

In essence, the Centinger was a menace.

...

"Boiboi!" Inin shouted and hurriedly plastered himself to the floor, watching dozens of spikes fly past his original position. He wasn’t even able to budge from his spot and could only press himself upon the cloud platform, holding for dear life.

Cough!

A ringing sound blared in his ears as blood spilled out of his mouth. He was partially lodged to the hull as many cracks spread from behind him. He groaned and noticed the faint dent on his chest, which was rapidly mending itself.

The Narlakk had tanked most of the damage. All Torq had to endure was the momentum that had sent him flying into the hull. Even the impact from the collision into the hull was absorbed by the Narlakk.

Even though most of the damage had been absorbed, Torq still ended up spewing blood as the spike began to melt through his clothes, little by little. The fumes it spewed affected him more than the impact, being the main reason for the blood leak.

"Urgh!" He created a water pincer to pull out the spike lodged partway in his clothes and chucked it into the water beyond.

Landing on the cloud platform, he hurriedly plastered himself to the floor and crawled towards Inin, "We need to get inside!"

"Boiboi?" Inin gasped in shock, "You’re alive?"

"Barely!" Torq hurriedly made up a lie, "It cleanly destroyed my arms. So, my body is fine."

He then slowly moved his arm forward, as if showing its state, "Once I cut off the melting part and drank the vial of medicine, it healed pretty well."

’That level of healing speed is above him.’ Inin thought as such for a moment and then chided himself for being foolish, ’I wonder how long I’ve been screaming on the floor. Maybe it was longer than I had assumed. Anyways,’

"Follow me!" He shouted and created a shield protecting his head and chest. He then moved towards the edge of the cloud platform, making Torq crawl in the inner section, avoiding harm. "Make a shield the same as me and put it over mine."

"Okay," Torq hurriedly followed suit and layered his shield atop Inin’s, quickly understanding the other party’s perspective, ’By concentrating our strength, our defences will be stronger than before. As long as we protect our head and heart, we can recover from all damage.’

Hence, the legs could be sacrificed. But still, the fact that Inin moved like a shield for Torq stunned the other party.

’Why?’ The question plagued him, but he followed suit, hearing projectiles crash into the hull of the ship one after another.

"At my signal, jump!" Inin created a stream of water that pulled upon the lever, making a hole to the cabin inside. Torq jumped in without hesitation and slid through the tunnel. He cranked up the Prana supply to the shield outside, ensuring Inin was protected to the best of his capabilities.

"Argh!" Followed by a scream, Inin slid through the tunnel. Only his upper body made it in while the lower half got blown off by a projectile.

"Drink it!" Torq uncorked a vial from his pocket and poured its content into Inin’s mouth. He also used Mystic Mist Art to extract the toxins covering the severed region.

"Your control is still shit." Inin gasped and concentrated for a few seconds to fully spew out the toxins. His body began to slowly regenerate while he panted in exhaustion. "Boiboi, close the slide shut."

"But the others..." Torq hesitated for a moment as he released his Prana detection means through the tunnel to observe the status outside.

"There are no others," Inin sighed, "They were all blown up."
