Chapter 359: Chapter 158: Blade’s Direction, The Chief Evil Dwarves

Fran and Viola stopped their conversation when Adrian knocked and came in. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Viola looked amusedly at the wily fellow who eyed her place.

It seemed he must be Fran’s heir, or he wouldn’t have known about her presence.

When Adrian delivered the seeds, he was full of questions, but when he left, he took with him a belly full of gossip.

Who else could be so comfortable in Fran’s study if not a half-elf lady?

But under Fran’s strict order to keep a secret, he couldn’t go discuss it with Hill.

No sooner had Fran spoken than Adrian understood that the lady’s visit had to be kept from Hill, at least for now.

As he walked out of the Magic Tower, he glanced at the Cloud House floating in mid-air and then turned to look in the direction of the Forest of the Elves.

The elves are still keeping an eye on Hill!

So even if she was a blood relative, Fran didn’t want Hill to meet her.

That kid Hill, even though he had toughened up a lot, was still prone to soft-heartedness.

Why let Hill suffer if the half-elf lady turned out to have issues!

Adrian headed for William’s King’s Ship. Fran, in front of the lady, had him relay matters concerning the Forest of the Elves and the City of Golden Flame, and by the way, to mention that the Druids were nearby and they wanted Hill’s sunflower seeds.

The lady just watched with a smile and said not a word.

Watching the atmosphere between the two, Adrian could feel that these two definitely had no affection left between them; at most, they shared the nostalgia of old friends, each with their own ulterior motives.

He just hoped it wouldn’t affect Hill.

Yet this lady, seeking out her long-separated old flame Fran rather than her blood relative Hill, seemed to know what she was doing.

An old flame might be toyed with, but not her own child.

Viola weighed the bag of seeds in her hand, and feeling the quantity was sufficient, bid Fran farewell directly and frankly.

"How did you get the seeds? Do you need to report?" Fran asked nonchalantly.

"I am an animal Druid!" Viola waved her hand cheerfully, "They won’t ask me these things. Nobody can question about animal forms if I don’t speak about them. Relationships among Druids are quite equal, chilly at worst toward those they dislike but without causing trouble."

"Then don’t come back."

"That’s impossible, what if they think I’m capable and keep sending me here for errands? Not many Druids are willing to deal with humans."

"Is it true that no one knows about the relationship between you and me?"

"No one among the Druids knows," Viola suddenly laughed, "Many Druids actually don’t get along well with the Elven Royal Family. The further removed by blood, the more likely one is to awaken as a Druid! Those who know I had a relationship with a human Mage, they’re all in the Forest of the Elves!

And no one knows I had a child. Even though the chance is small, I was worried the child would turn out to be purely human, so of course, I kept it a secret."

Viola finally let slip her feigned innocence, her face taking on a sharp edge: "How foolish would I have to be to tell outsiders my vulnerabilities? In the Forest of the Elves, I only have enemies!"

Fran said nothing. He didn’t know what had happened to Viola after she returned to the Forest of the Elves, even coming to hate her once-revered mother. But as long as no elf knew where Hill’s bloodline came from, it was fine.

He had always known that Viola indeed enjoyed happiness and excitement, loved to joke, and often caused small troubles but wasn’t truly naive and cute; she had just become accustomed to presenting a pure exterior to the world.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been attracted to her in the first place.

A Mage only falls in love with a woman who arouses his curiosity, not to mention this carefree and resilient beauty, passionate as fire in the open, and sharp as a knife in the dark.

Viola said nothing further, certain she would come again anyway; there was still much to do!

Seeing Viola instantly turn into a peregrine falcon and fly off into the sky, Fran finally understood how she had hopped in through his window.

That peregrine had not a trace of magic power, and Fran’s Magic Tower had no barriers against such ordinary animals.

He summoned the Tower Spirit and set up a barrier to keep all animals and even insects outside the Magic Tower. Today it had been Viola, but who knew who else might come another day?

Sitting in his chair, he chuckled, recalling Hill’s Nature Companions.

The mysteries of bloodlines were truly a miracle that one couldn’t help but believe in.

He had no intention of telling William how Viola had entered the camp.

He was sure William already knew; there was no way such a thing could be hidden from the eyes of a deity, even one who hadn’t ignited the Divine Fire.

Fran was right. Adrian, who hadn’t returned for half a day, was now gossiping with William.

"That must be Melanie’s mother, right?" Adrian perked up a bit as he noticed William’s interest in the half-elf lady herself, rather than the news he brought.

It seemed he might not have to swallow the gossip after all—maybe he had found someone to talk to.

"Although she didn’t say, that lady was lounging on the sofa, right in my teacher’s study!" Adrian said, with eyes rolling animatedly.

"Oh my~" William rubbed his hands, it was a pity he only saw a bird!

When he came in, Adrian only paid attention briefly.

But the Druids had been observing all along, and he thought they came for the seed that Hill had just planted.

This sunflower, he had never even heard of it before—probably didn’t exist long ago.

Otherwise, with the God of Time and Space’s ability to collect data, it would be impossible for him not to know about such a miraculous seed.

Although they indeed came for the seed, the visitor was different, and he was very interested.

He was curious about the Half-Elf that the always serious Fran had taken a liking to.

"Beautiful?" William pondered for a moment, "You’ve seen the Elf Princess too!"

"She’s a great beauty! But her style is completely different," Adrian said with a sly smile. "Come to think of it, it’s a bit like the style of the Goddess of the Hunt when she later recovered her true form.

A big beauty with a toned figure, the kind that glimmers with grace. I didn’t dare look closely, but her eyes were very similar to Hill’s.

Like a cat-like woman."

William nodded and laughed along, "I just thought, the person Master Fran once liked must be quite unique."

"Teacher told me not to tell Hill," Adrian asked with confusion, "What trouble could those Druids possibly stir up?"

"They think that the Forest of the Elves is absolutely impregnable by humans, and when I lose patience and return to the starry sky, this land will eventually belong to the Elves. It’s best for Hill not to get involved with these guys. It looks like the lady thinks the same."

"Didn’t they fall out with the Forest of the Elves?"

"I fought a life and death battle with Dionysio! When facing the Elves and Dwarves, didn’t we still cooperate?" William shook his head, "Now there are no pure Moon Elves left, those Druids certainly won’t choose to help humans. In their eyes, not helping the Forest of the Elves is their greatest contribution.

I asked Hill what he thought those Druids were thinking, why they never showed up. He blurted out that if Saral had lost, they would have come out to turn the tide, but since we won, they would watch again."

William stood up, looking towards the distant forest: "Hill’s views on Elves are more realistic. His bloodline inheritance allows him to understand Elves very well.

If he feels that what the Druids call pride is a deep-seated reluctance to cooperate with humans against the Forest of the Elves, then it’s probably true."

However, I am very curious to know what would happen to this group of Druids if humans were to completely conquer the Elves."

Adrian asked in surprise, "Does His Majesty the King think they will help the Forest of the Elves?"

"Humans also won’t stand by and watch their race be annihilated, no matter how much hatred there is," William said in an even tone, "The Druids are still able to stay because they believe we absolutely cannot enter the Forest of the Elves and exterminate all Elves."

He scoffed softly, "To exterminate the Elf race, I am not that cruel. They don’t deserve me abandoning my principles. But, I will make sure they can never leave the Forest of the Elves!"

Adrian finally understood who the real target was in William’s heart.

Adrian remained silent; the Elves indeed acted in a disgusting manner, but the ever-silent Dwarves were the truly terrifying ones.

Compared to the selfish and cold Elves, the greatest threat to this world was actually the Dwarves.

Although it seemed like they interfered less with humans than the Elves, the few things that threatened human survival were all done by the Dwarves.

And the Magical Beasts were willing to cooperate with humans, probably also targeting the Dwarves.

While the Elves hunted many Magical Beasts, they didn’t truly threaten the survival of the Magical Beasts.

Only the Dwarves, who considered Magical Beasts as forging materials, would cause the extinction of countless Magical Beasts once they truly developed.

In fact, it was fortunate that the Elves and Dwarves arrived in this world together.

Their mutual restraint has given humans so much time to develop.

It’s just unknown why they only stick to that little bit of their territory and never want to move.

Even if the world is wary of them, it doesn’t mean they should not dare to move at all, right?

Adrian, filled with doubts, got up and bid farewell to William, as he had to get back to work.

William watched him leave, stretched a big lazy stretch, "Alright, gossip’s over, back to work, heaps of things still to do!"

Hill was building a Cloud Ship for a while when he suddenly remembered something.

The reason the Dwarves incited the local humans to transform into Demons, polluting the land so badly it almost spoiled the Earth veins as well.

Was their target the Goddess of the Earth, perhaps?

The Earth that has been accumulating strength to restore itself as a complete planet, if these lands of Demons increased, how much effort would it take to purify them!

He frowned, why did neither the Sun God nor the Goddess of the Silvermoon say who wounded them?

Do we really have to wait until the planet recovers and the Goddess of the Earth revives to find out?

But Hill could sense something, they simply didn’t want to mention what happened, yet they were not worried about being attacked again.

The attention of the God of Time and Space was not on defense against the outside world either, it seems they all knew what was going on.
