Chapter 40: SysDi 40: Willpower, Intellect and Perseverance 2

For some reason, the whoosh that went past Evan’s ear was a little louder than what he’s used to.

He wouldn’t covered his ear if he could. But it was gone before he can cover his ears.

It could just be because of the small space. He’s not sure if that’s the case though.

He looked around him, the familiar darker vision is everywhere he looked. His footsteps were echo-y but his movements were much more fluid.

When he got inside the corridor, all he saw was a darker shade of green. Just... Green.

Evan’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. The ground looks like it is enveloped with grass. The walls were moist with what that looks like moss. There’s some vines hanging from the ceiling connecting through numerous more.

It looks like a little rain forest. Evan is familiar with rain forest from the picture he saw in one of the books he had read.

The only exemption is that it is still a hallway. There are no trees either. Or any plants that show off their branches. All of the things he could see was green, as far as he could see.

He began to walk forwards. The grass beneath his feet crunching a little. They were a little wet, like when he saw grass outside after a cold night before the sunrise.

It was weird too. If there is no sunlight, why are they all green and still alive? Evan remembers the very first thing that Erwin, his dad, had taught him. It was that plants all need sunlight to survive. freewēbnoveℓ.com

So, why and how are they all here and thriving? The only reason could be that they are fake... Right?

It didn’t feel fake though. As Evan walks more, there is no traps, no anything other than more vines and more green.

When he reached the end of the hallway, there is less green here. Some patches of the wall can be seen. There’s no button at the end of the hallway but there is a singular plant in a pot.

Evan looks at it in awe. The leaves were shiny, glistening but still green. There were branches on this and they aren’t thin. This seems to be the only plant in the room that had a different structure and not fully the same color as the rest.

"Detect." Evan says out loud. He didn’t have to say it while in Simulation Zone, but it felt right I still do.

----- ----- -----

Name: Sapling of Life

Age: 4 years, 3 months, 2 weeks, 1 day, 2 hours

Description: The third branch from the main Tree of Life. Its special mana capability ensures life around it always thrives regardless of the lack of necessities. It has healing capacity. Can be used as a material component.

Evan looks at the potted plant. Even if it looks like a regular plant except for the shiny, green leaves, he knows that his detect ability would only show what he could see.

If this is really a sapling of life from the tree, it means that the green he can see in this very room is because of it.

Does it mean he can take it? Evan thinks he should. There’s no way he is leaving this here... What if someone comes and takes it too right?

Iva bounced on his shoulder to catch his attention. "It says it can be used as material component."

Evan turns to the Iva the slime. "Yeah it does. What exactly does that mean?"

"It means you can use it to craft something out from it." Iva explains. "You can use it if you ever do need it."

Evan stares at Iva and then looks back at the plant. "I’m not going to use it as material component. But can I take it out from here?"

Iva hums. "Where are you going to put it?"

Evan shrugs. "In my item inventory? I think I can put it there right?"

"Oh. Yeah, that could work." Iva agrees.

Evan blinks his eyes and the Simulation Zone returned him back before entering the hallway he was just in.

Because his intention was to survive the room and he did, the usage is done. There is no need for him to stay in the Simulation.

He made his way back inside the room, Iva bouncing down from his shoulder to the grassy ground.

Evan made his way instantly towards the end of the hallway. Without the darker vision that the Simulation Zone provides, the sapling of life looks even more beautiful.

Not only that, but Evan can see the little shimmering light around it, as it there is light being reflected in its leaves.

Evan reached his hand out to hold the pot. He lifted it off of the pedestal it is on. Then, he placed it in his item inventory.

Without it, he thought every plant around him would immediately be gone. That wasn’t the case though. The moss and the grass were still alive, well and green. It looks like nothing has happened.

"It would take a while before everything in this hallway wilts." Iva says. "They were given enough mana to survive for a while."

Evan nods his head. "I see... I thought they would just immediately die."

Iva sighs. "No, they wouldn’t. Have you heard of the tree of life?"

"Yes, I heard about that. It’s the first living being in the world that came to be that could produce its own mana." Evan says, recalling the stories that his mom used to tell him before bed.

"Yes. If you have heard of it, then you do know that it is the tree were most of the mana came from before. It does not have any fruits but you can replant a tree by taking parts of the branches and making it a sapling." Iva continues to explain.

So, that is why a sapling can exist. Evan still looked at Iva though. He didn’t know why it was here in the first place. All he remembered about the tree was that nobody knows where it was anymore. For a tree that famous and unmovable, it seems to have disappeared.
